So I found out that to have the bar open for extra hours is $15pp per hour. Andrea informed me that we have to pay this price for people over the age or 12 because they will drink juice/pop/virgin drinks as well. I see some other people here are saying they were told 9pp.. some were told 14pp. Which one is it actually? I know my wedding isn't until 2016 but I booked it in October....

I'm not at your resort but my resort had this same rule and it drove me bonkers. How can you make 12-?? Year olds pay the open bar fee when they aren't even legal to drink. I tried to fight this and got nowhere. Although another bride at my resort got a reduced fee. Haha and really an 11 year old isn't going to drink pop and Virgin drinks?? My 9 year olds sucked them back. Vent over lol

@@Teg07 from what I understand, once all payments are done. They just want to make sure you have the minimum number of rooms booked before giving you free stuff (in case someone cancels), then it becomes official, same thing with the free trips that you get. We got every 11th free, so  we should have 3 :). We would know this 3 months before the wedding, so if something goes wrong I'll have to start scrambling around finding someone to do my hair and makeup. I'm risking it because just with our two families we'd only be missing 7 nights to get the perks. I'm sure at least one more person would go! haha

@@Smellsey I got the 14pp quote. I fought it because other people were getting different quotes, especially the one that was 9pp until 12am,  but they're not budging so I gave up. We're just having the 4 hours and then moving to their club, where it's open bar anyways! hahah.

@@TinkerSofi Yes that all makes sense ....I get where they are coming from. Did you get a choice in perks or do they just offer certain ones based on the number of rooms booked? My TA is yet to get back to me about it. Apparently it's her 1st Karisma wedding so she is still learning. Just have to be patient I guess.

I know the Transat portion of the perks with the 11th passenger free ( i only have 1 ).

The make up is super expensive at the resort so I would be curious to check out the stylino trio If the perk doesnt pan out. You could always contact them ahead of time and see how much time in advance they need to book. Just to have your bases covered but in the end I'm sure it will all work out.

Out of curiosity what time is your ceremony and dinner? I'm trying to organize my time line for the day and night.

As far as I understood I think you get the perks when you book with one of their TAs, regardless of how many rooms you have, but I could be wrong. I just checked the website and they changed these perks so I have to see if the hair and makeup still applies to me because that's when we booked. Otherwise I need to start looking somewhere else!

Oh, i forgot to add this haha. Originally we had our ceremony at 5, dinner at 7. Since they changed the time, I'm trying to change it to ceremony at 6, dinner at 8. I asked them if I'd have to pay extra for my reception to be until midnight. If they say no we'll go ahead with the change but if we need to pay then we'll stick to the 5pm timeline :)

Does anyone know if you can squeeze 10 people to the round tables? I know they are generally tables of 8 and I confirmed with my WC about adding a 9th but wondering if there were a couple of children at the table, could we squeeze in 10?

I think you'd be ok if you have a couple of kids. The biggest problem might be that the place settings are the same, whether they're kids or adults, so it might look a little more crammed.

@@TinkerSofi ya that's what I was worried about too. I'll ask my WC and see what she says. If we end up getting more confirmations then it would just make sense to start a new table but the way it is now, everyone fits except that one family and I don't really want to split up a family of 4.

Hi! I'm planning a wedding for 2016, but haven't chosen a resort yet. I was thinking Beach Palace in Cancun, but now I've heard great things about Azul Fives! Does anyone know if the beach is nice/water pretty for a beach wedding? Also, I read on this blog that someone thought reception dinner pricing was increasing to $89, did anyone have that experience? I'm expecting 100-120 guests. Are there any perks such as free cocktail receptions, etc?

Any info is appreciated!!

@@calgarybride2015 @@TinkerSofi I emailed Andrea back asking if mine would be pushed to 14pp. I am assuming she will say no but it is worth a shot. I agree though - I have 2 10 years and I know they will drink pop lol! Plus I have 4 recovering alcoholics that won't be drinking either but I understand that you would have to pay for adults. I think we are going to do the ceremony at 3.. cocktails at 5 and then the dinner at 7-11 and then do one hour of the bar until midnight and then go elsewhere.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
