I think Shannonmarie is correct. I think it has to do with environmental issues. But I did see a realy neat DIY  petal runner on weddingbee.com that was beautiful as a remedy: tulle, glue and tons of petals. Definitely a labor of love, but it's an option.

Wow - labour of love is right!  I wonder if they allow silk petals inside (table decor) since they won't blow away and litter the beach?

I may be wrong on this but I too was pretty pumped on the freeze dried petal idea. However I read on some other boards that you are not supposed to bring them into the county due to them being "live" and most brides have gotten them taken I'm customs, especially with the sniffing dogs. I am still considering trying it though.... Anyone else heard anything about this?

I've heard this too.. I think it's kinda hit or miss. Some people get them through, some don't. I think I'm still considering trying it as well.

I was worried since everyone is talking about Pilar..I haven't heard anyone mention Deisy. I met with her, she is super nice. Just wanted to see if anyone had her plan the wedding.

Was she with you all day of the wedding?

No, she wasn't with me all day. She came to find me around 12 to let me know that we had to change the location of the reception but then I didn't see her again until right before the ceremony. She was setting everything up most of the day. She was there for the ceremony and then during the cocktail hour she was taking pictures of the reception set up and showing me. She was there the whole time through the reception though.

To answer the rose petal question:

I brought a TON of fake petals with me (not freeze dried).  It is very windy and they just blow around (I was on the Pergola) but Deisy sprinked some right before I was ready to walk down the aisle.  They also put some on the Mix Bar set up for the cocktail reception and they used a bunch for the table settings for the actual reception inside.  So yes, they will use them...wherever you want!  :)

I'm glad to see a few new brides on this thread!  I've added you to the bridal roll call.

As for the beer that is served, they serve Corona (original only) and a Mexican beer (I forget which one, but it's not Sol or Dos Equis, which is odd to me)

Hi Ladies!

We are just in the process of confirming our dates for March 2013 and I wanted to get your feedback on which day of the week would be the best. We are looking at either March 26th (Tues) or March 28th (Thurs) and each have pros/cons. We will be arriving Saturday-Saturday so the earlier date would be closer to the middle of the week, but I was thinking since Good Friday is early this year (Fri 29th) we may have people wouldn't have been able to take off a week who'd be able to take Thursday off and just come down for the wedding and the weekend. I don't know anyone who has said that taking the time off would be a big problem but I thought if people were strapped for cash it might make it easier for them to do a 3/4 day holiday and be at our wedding. Thoughts?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
