CourtBestbride,  can you tell me when the WC contacted you?  I have not heard a peep from anyone there and I am getting married March 8th.  I have emailed my original contact Shaniece at least 3 times and I have not heard back.  Any advice?  I am getting nervous.  BTW, you must be getting so excited.  Can't wait to hear all your details

Im getting married at GP on May 6th 2013. I was lucky enough to visit there May 2012 to check out everything. The restaurants are awesome and the food is better than i expected for the caribean. We loved the italian and asian restaurants the most. It's true - no reservations. First come, first served. Dress code is not super strict. I think guys are fine wiht sandals on, but no tank tops I believe. So tell your guys to bring a few light dress shirts or golf shirts. Thats different for the Mo Bay buffet room though, they are more flexible I believe.

Does anyone have tips for me, for my flowers? Are you going wiht what is included in yoru package? Or are you hiring a local vendor? or are you upgrading through the resorts florist?  Are you bringing all fake flowers?  Any vendors you can recommend?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!!

Michelle~

ps. The DJ is definitely not $300 for 3 hours. Its much more.

pps. Poseidon is a nice place and has a nice view of the ocean. It's long and narrow. The food at lunch  didn't impress me all that much compared to the places that are more centrally located at the resort. However, I heard that for your wedding you are allowed to pick your wedding menu from ANY of the restaurant menus that are at the resort.  My suggestion - go for italian!

Hi Michelle,

or anyone else wondering about flowers.....

I had real-touch flowers made for myself, MOH and 3 bouts for the guys..  and I ended up using the bouquet that came with the wedding package.

We went with Waves of Love and the colour of the bouquest was beautiful !!!

As soon as the coordinator brought it i forgot all about my stiff and uptight fake bouquet (which the colors were off too)

The bouquet was blue hydrangeas and it was beautiful. It matched the flowers at the ceremony as well... the 2 big bouquets infront of the gazebo.

They transferred the 2 large arrangements to the reception as well... 1 went on the head table (we did sweetheart style) and 1 went on the cake table. They were MASSIVE and so beautiful and absolutely enough.

Unless there is a specific style you want... i wouldnt pay for fake flowers... it was a huge waste of money. The resort bouquets were beaufitul.

You can ask about the hotel photographer, which is True colors. We weren't impressed by them and decided to go with an outside photographer, Merrick Cousley. You still get photos with the hotel photographer with your package. You can google them and decide if you like their work. If you look the feeds from the grand palladium 2012 threads, brides from here also comment on their work. Some liked them, some didn't. Hope that helps :-)

For those brides that already got married, Congrats! I did have a question. I know people may or may not be bringing a sound system for the reception. We are getting a DJ since our guests love to dance. We are doing a private reception at the Poseidon. I was wondering about the sound for the ceremony. We are doing the ceremony at the Gazebo. We just wanted to have the play list from our IPODs. Did anyone else do that?

Hi Lena,

For the ceremony at the gazebo... they initially charged us $500 to rent an ipod dock for the ceremony ONLY. We told them to forget it since we had hired the steel drum band and didnt require the ipod dock.

I'm sure if you have your own they will hook that up and use it... not sure though.

Otherwise... the minister uses a microphone and they still used the sound system for our vows and the entire ceremony (by entire i mean the whole 20 mins lol).

Sound should not be an issue at the gazebo.. i'm pretty sure the whole one side of the resort heard our entire wedding.

Are you staying on the Lady Hamilton side?  We booked one of their honeymoon villas:)

Does anyone know...for the ceremony - for the bridal march, processional, recessional, etc music, do they have someone that plays it or do I need to get one of my guests to do it?  i've chosen the Island Pearl package so it includes speakers/docking station but when I asked the WC who plays the music she didn't respond.  Also, is it just an Ipod station or is it a CD player too?

One more question - Alysia85 you said they tried to charge you $500 for the ipod dock?  I just noticed in your pic it looks like you had the waves of love package...it says that includes one or do they try to trick you when you get there?  for the Island Pearl package, it says "music/ipod hookup & mic/speakers for ceremony".  Should I bring my own docking station?

Let me know what you find out... I am also going with the island pearl package and was planning to use the ipod hookup for the ceremony for the bridal party and myself walking down.  I also am wondering who would do that or if I need to have one of my guest be in charge.  Best of luck with everything.  Let me know how it all goes and how you like the package! :)

Ahh, ok...yes I am getting the steel drum band too, but I'm going to have them play after the ceremony during the cocktail hour.  Originally I had planned on reserving the Poisedon but we only have 25 people, 10 of which are in the wedding party (including myself & fiance) so we thought it would be silly to get a dj or have someone play music for a small amount of people...I bought a short white dress to change into after pictures so that we can go to the disco or supper or wherever later on:)  I can't believe we're leaving tomorrow!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
