2013 Grand Palladium Jamaica Brides

Recommended Posts

I thought I would start a thread for all of us 2013 GPJ brides to see what your experiences with planning have been and see if there are any questions.   I just put in a deposit today so I am very excited!  My details are as follow:

Date: April 20, 2013

Time: 04:00pm

Location: Beach

Package: Waves of Love

Reception: Private reception at the Blue Lagoon

I don't have many more details than that yet, especially since it is over a year away, but I will keep you all posted!   Btw, we chose GPJ/GPLH resorts because it appears to have a lot of amenities to keep our guests occupied (e.g., a beach, large pool, bars, restaurants, night clubs, putting green, etc.) and the 2012 room prices are reasonable (2013 prices aren't out but group rates for April 2012 are $126/pp/pn/do).

Best of luck to everyone,

Courtney

Update:  Sorry all!  I changed resorts.  It was a last minute toss up!  I have changed to Iberostar Rose Hall Suites.

well Congratulations!!! :) both resorts look Great, it's funny because I just called GP a few weeks ago for April 2013, and your date and time slot was the only booked so far! funny to see you on here!

So I still have not booked my date exact date yet, it will be in April also we are still on the fence between Riu/Iberostar/GPLH

Can I ask why you decided to make the switch?

I changed when I read some pretty bad reviews. But, then again, there are some amazing reviews.  I think the thing that finally made us switch was the beach.  I believe GP has a man-made beach (a lot of people say this is the biggest negative there) whereas Iberostar looks to have a beautiful beach.  My fiance is huge about beaches.  I also had a colleague who stayed at Iberostar and absolutely loved it!  O and our TA, who is a family friend (in other words, she knows us well), said she would never book us at GP.

One thing to consider though is the price of rooms.  I believe GP is much cheaper.  I got quoted for 4/20/2013 $671/pp/do for five nights whereas at Iberostar I got a quote for 4/6/2013 of $943/pp/do for four nights (just hotel room).  Please keep in mind that the first weekend of April is more expensive, but still.  My FI and I are trying to find another weekend where it will be cheaper.

Finally, I didn't look at RIU because one of my colleague's friends got married there and according to her, the group did not have a good time.  However, everyone's experience is different!

Hey there!

I'm getting married at GP.JA next year and I was able to get great pricing... $1536 per person, all in for a week - based on double occupancy.

Date: May 6, 2013

Time: 4pm

Location: Attrium, I think !

Package: Pure Paradise

Reception: 6pm - Private reception at the Blue Lagoon

So far it's been a breeze. Deposit is in. Picked our restaurant out. Our colours. Our flowers will be done in Toronto and flown over (fake flowers are much cheaper than the resorts silly fresh flower fees). I have many ideas for welcome baskets. Just picking my photographer now. Going to work on a DJ next.... Heard the resort has a good hairstylist and I may do my own makeup. Not sure yet!

Would love some ideas for a photographer or a DJ if anyone has them !!

We're all booked for Saturday 6th April 2013 at 2pm on the beach.  I would've rathered 4pm but it was already booked.

My sister-in-law to be attended a wedding here a few years ago and was really impressed with this hotel and it facilities.

A lot of details to iron out, we def haven't looked at booking our restaurant etc so may be looking into that very soon.  I'd be interested to find out who your contact has been at the hotel.

I'm also going to be ordering real flowers from Canada. It is great value for money and the exchange rate def works in our favour.

We're already under a year and I get the feeling the time will fly by.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
