Parents did NOT love my dress!

Hi ladies,

I went with my parents this weekend to look at dresses. I had a top 4. Upon trying them on I was able to eliminate 2 of them bc they would be to hot in the Carribean and they just didn't wow me anymore. I already knew which dress I wanted actually bc it was the one I light up with immediately. I didn't want to say anything to my parents,s o I wouldn't sway their opinion. They right away said they didnt like my favorite! =( I then suggested they see both dresses with the veil and see if it made a difference also with it being clipped tighter b/c it fit me a bit loose. They finally saw me in both and said they liked them both but still liked the other dress better.

Has this happened to anyone? And if so what did you do? Did youstill buy your favorite or go with the one everyone else liked?

You have to remember at these dress shops there are so many that are gorgeous! Everyone has different taste and its hard to say which one people would like best. On your wedding day you will look beautiful and they will never remember the one they liked better. Pick the one you feel best in!

Take photos of yourself in both dresses. Post em' here. We'll tell ya what we think!

Really though, I find a photograph is a great deciding factor. It's like hearing yourself on the answering machine. Yes, that IS what you really sound like and Yes, that IS what you really look like! Some dresses look great in person, but do not photograph well and some ermmm....look great in the store and that's about it.

If you still like your initial favorite after seeing the photos, go with it.

You have to choose the dress that is best for you. Don't choose one based on what everyone else likes if it's not the one that makes you light up. If you have that special feeling and it makes you feel like a bride then it's the dress for you and on your big day they will think you look perfect!

My mom thinks my dress is pretty, but I KNOW it is not the one she would've picked for me. She would love to see me in a big, princessy ballgown, and mine is the complete opposite - mermaid style, no lace, no beading. Sooooo simple. But she knew I wanted it and didn't question it at all. She does want me to have a veil with lace or something on it, just so she can have her bling in there! Haha! I am also thinking of getting a big, ball gown for my TTD.

I went shopping with my sister and mother to soooo many stores and drove them nuts! I chose my dress when I was with my mother's friend- a big glittery ball gown! I showed my mom but I did not even tell my sister I got it b/c I knew that she would not like it, and I had told her I was going to get this slinky mermaid one that we had seen at another boutique! She got so mad at me and called me shady and was so hurt. I still feel bad I just didn't want to tell her b/c I didn't want her to not like it!

I know what you mean, you want everyone to love it and that is why I am having second thoughts! I really don't know what to do, I think you are screwed either way... lol! I love my dress but now when I am flipping through the magazines I always wonder if I should have gotten something else.... I agree with the photos though, the stores that let you do it anyway... seeing yourself in a picture really eliminates so many choices!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
