Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?

Recommended Posts

I bought my BMs dresses. I decided that I would since it will be pretty spendy to be at our wedding. Plus they are my sisters, and I wanted to help them out...especially since 2 of the 3 of them are very young (18) and don't have much money anyways!

I just kept my eye on ideeli.com for dresses that I liked, and ended up getting 3 pink convertable dresses for $69 (reg $198) each! I will also buy them necklaces and hair flowers and leave their shoes up to them.

I bought mine.. however.. there is only one ! Finally, her mother is going to arrange it and put some " bling" on it ... and i'll pay for that as well...I think if you have a bridesmaid or maid of honor.. that helps you in the preparation... they deserve it! ... If you have the money to do so ... go for it!

What I've surmised from this is it seems based on the amount of bridesmaids you have; those with two - seem keen. Those with more - less so. And if they're siblings or children then, of course!

I've decided that I'm not going to (except for the one cash strapped BM). I've six in my bridal party - MOH (sister), four BM (BFs) and a jr BM (FI's daughter). We're covering Jr's (of course) but every one else (with the exception of one BM) can afford it. If I were getting married in Paris, like originally thought, then I would have but it's the most affordable destination. I will be getting them jewelry and another non-wedding keepsake plus the convertible dresses I'm looking at now will be no more than $80.

We've said to the bridesmaid that I will pay $XX amount, if they want to go over that, they need to pay the remaining balance. They seem okay with it. After all, they are getting their food&drink free, plus their makeup and hair, plus a gift etc. What more can they want?

  • 2 weeks later...

I paid for my BM dresses, I am having 5 of them, I told them that would be their gift even though I am thinking about still buying something small like a bracelet to go with the dresses. Most of them keeping asking if I want any money for them, but I tell them they are spending so much already just to come to my wedding that this is the least I can do.

I bought them Victoria's Secret Multi-Way dress so they were not too expensive, plus I had a $75 off coupon if you spent over $250, so that also helped with the cost.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
