Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?

Recommended Posts

JordannaMarie, do you mind if I ask what store you found your dresses at?  I'm totally with you in the fact that I don't really want traditional bridesmaid dresses.  I want something they can wear again and again, with a cute beachy look.  And that price tag doesn't hurt either!

In my opinion, if you are making the bridesmaids pay for the dresses, make sure it's something they can wear again!  The dresses I found are so cute and "beachy", and it will look great on all of them... and for 30 bucks, its amazing!  They aren't the "traditonal" bridesmaids dresses, but I like that about them!  That shiny, thick, all-one-color bridesmaids dresses is not at all my style.

I decided not to pay for my bridesmaids dresses.  But I was hoping that they would find dresses that would be nice enough to wear again.  I chose black and they all ended up founding cute dresses at BCBG on sale.  We tried going to bridal stores but I couldn't picture them wearing typical bridesmaids dresses.  I'm glad it all worked out.

I think we have the same sisters....mine are younger and are 21 and 19 in two months and they feel I should buy the passports, flight, hotel, food and the dress because it was my choice to have a destination wedding. I paid for one's dress but I haven't officially asked them to be in the wedding yet because I'm thinking about taking it back. Plus they've been threading me and fighting over who's going to be MOH since I started talking marriage and I don't want to pick one. Are you sisters older or younger?

Also, with asking people to travel all the way to DR for me, it is the least I can do. On the other hand, I think my sisters (my MOH and BM) see this as one of my bridal responsibilities instead of a generous gesture. I'm afraid to give them their dresses when they come in, because I'm afraid of their ungrateful and hurtful responses.

Sisters can be some of the most important and most aggravating people in one's life.

This post has talked me into writing a full MOH vent in another thread... it feels good to get it off my chest.

:) thanks for listening.

I paid for all my BMs dresses, but I waited until our local bridal store was having a trunk sale, so I got 20% off each dress... since then, I have had 2 BMs back out of the wedding, one via text, one via email... One has paid me back for the dress, the other is avoiding me like the plague. angry.gif

Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear that! Do you have a backup? Or maybe sell the dress on a wedding classified (don't just post it here use others also)

Don't have backups... She has the dress and refuses to call me back or send me a check even though she has said she would. She has effectively ruined our friendship by being this way. I can understand not being able to go, but to then act like this?! I just either want a check or the dress back.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
