  1. Here is my ring! It is Ritani and absolutely beautiful! I love love love my ring! My hubby did a great job picking it out!
  2. Thanks ladies! It was incredible! Shanlovesalexi- you will LOVE her! She was so great! I'm sure yours will turn out beautiful!
  3. Aww thanks Matt! You are so sweet! Well if thats the case, I'll take the EXTRA hotness any day! Haha!
  4. Thanks Matt! There are just too many amazing pictures to choose from! You guys definitely did such an incredible job. Not only are our pictures incredible, you ALL were so so so sweet and encouraging! You, Sol, Juan, and Melissa are some of my favorite people. I SWEAR I am going to practice holding my breath and looking more graceful underwater so next time I get to to an underwater shoot I will be looking WAY more photogenic! I don't know how you got the pictures you did though...I must have been one of your toughest clients! Hahaha! Thank you! I love Del Sol too! Haha doesn't sound pervy at all! Thank you very much! I LOVE hearing that! Hey, if you got 'em flaunt 'em! LOL! Oh man, there are SO many pictures that I LOVE I can't even pick just one. It helps to have a whole GANG of talented people to help make you look amazing! Thanks to Del Sol, Sara Tamargo, and Red-i by Chelsea, I was looking fabulous and feeling like a model!
  5. Yes I bought day passes for both of them. I'm torn about Abilene... at the time when I wrote the review my little sister had brought up how she hated her hair the first time around and that really stuck in my head. After my friend touched up my hair I ended up liking mine a lot, but at the same time was exactly what I wanted. My mom was THRILLED!! She loved her hair and was SUPER excited that she had all the volume in her hair. She seriously has the finest hair ever (and hardly any of it), so she was skeptical, but she ended up LOVING hers. My other little sister had a picture and she really liked her hair too. Honestly I think if you are prepared and have pictures you should have no problems with your hair!
  6. Aww thanks! I think you should definitely hire Del Sol...I'm of course a little biased! Haha! But hey, the proof is in the puddin~ they rock it every single time!
  7. Aww thanks Matt! At this point in time I think I was starting to stress because we were late for the ceremony and no one could figure out how to lace up my dress! Somehow Juan was able to get pictures of me NOT freaking out. Now THATS talent! Haha!
  8. I ALSO wore barefoot jewelry at the reception as well as during our TTD made by Redi-i by Chelsea! I also had a some made for my 3 sisters and mom. They LOVED them and not only wore them after the ceremony, but wore them ALL week! They were absolutely gorgeous and we all got several compliments all week by passersby!
  9. I was IN LOVE with my shoes! Pink is my favorite color and it was the main color in our "theme", so it fit in perfectly. I LOVED how it also had some bling in it...I do love to sparkle! I ended up getting these last minute at Nordstrom for around $130 about 3 weeks before we left and they ended up being perfect! They are Steve Madden Partyy-R in Fuschia!
  10. Here is my dress! I posted a crappy cell phone pic of me trying it on in the store earlier in the thread, but now that I got my wedding pictures back from Del Sol I have WAY better pictures to show off my pretty dress! Unfortunately (or fortunately in most cases) I somehow lost quite a bit of weight the last 2 weeks before the wedding because all of a sudden my dress was laced as tight as it could go and I felt like I was swimming in it! Fortunately I am pretty busty, so it fit my chest well enough to hold the dress up, but because there was so much extra room in the tummy, the boning in the corset bowed out a bit and made me look like a had a bigger pooch than I did than when I was heavier and it fit more tightly. SHOOT!
  11. Hey ladies! We just got our TTD pictures back from Del Sol and I am in LOVE!!! Matt and Sol took us too a great secluded spot in Playa del Carmen where we did a bunch of pictures in the trees, beach, and cenote! I had a BLAST! Honestly, even though a TTD is not cheap, I HIGHLY recommend doing one. I can't tell you how much I look at mine and am just amazed at how great we look. When else in your life can you wear your dress again and have a little fun while a super talented photographer is making you look HOT HOT HOT!!! Here are a few of my favorites!!
  12. Thank you so much! It has been an incredible amount of work, but SOOO worth being out of a big company with shadey practices. I definitely do A LOT of brides! I hope the review helps! I'm glad I could be of some help! I HIGHLY recommend hiring either Del Sol or their sister company La Luna. All of our pictures were absolutely incredible and worth every single penny! I can't tell you how often I look at my pictures...I am starting to feel a little narcissistic, but I can't help but feel so proud of our pictures and how good they made me look! LOL! As far as I saw on our bill we were NOT charged a set up fee. If there was one it may have been like $50. Our bill was pretty dang easy and only had our final wedding bill...all of the charges on the bill that I can remember were the BIG stuff like the reception, JSAV, Zuniga, cake, etc. Perhaps we weren't charged because it was such an easy location?? This whole big fee is news to me! Thank you! Yes, I had a VERY difficult time with Marvin. I would say that if you have had better communication with other florists, and you think they could get through and sneak the flowers to you, I would HIGHLY suggest using one of them. I can say that as small of a problem as it was on the big day, the fact that the bouquets did not fit in my centerpieces REALLY bothered me all night! It just looked stupid and sloppy...and that was one of the final requests I had made several times and one that he confirmed a couple days before the wedding. I imagine that maybe he is getting too busy with all of us MP brides and is having a hard time handling the work load...but still, even if he was going to take months to answer me, he could have at least gotten the flower pictures right!! Thanks so much! It's been a crazy year so far, but by far the BEST year yet! Thank you! It was definitely amazing. I had a lot of help from Sara (makeup) and Del Sol! They can make just about anyone look like models! Yes the theft was a bummer. Especially because one of them actually had their SAFE broken into! Their code had been disabled and reset (which only can be done with a special master key), so they had to have someone come and open their safe for them and that is when they discovered their stuff was missing!! My Uncle was mostly upset because apparently MP security was trying to make it sound like it was THEIR fault and that they had done something to leave it open...or that it was staged. Who knows...but he sure didn't appreciate MP's lack of action. Its crazy that BOTH happened the day we were leaving to go down to Playa del Carmen. Makes ya wonder.....
  13. Hi Ladies!!! I'm Baaaaaaack! I know. Long time, no see...or post....but I am back in action! I figure I should give a little update on my life to somewhat explain my absence from the forum, so here it goes: As everyone I'm sure is aware of or will be, the last couple of months before you leave is hectic to say the least! Once down there it was a total whirl wind of meetings, family, friends, dinners, drinks, and last minute details. As soon as I got back from the wedding I started working on opening a new lash/wax lounge, "Lashed with Love" with my friend and colleague as well as working my regular spa 40+ hours a week. After many late nights and long days, we finally got the store opened in March! After that I was working 60+ hours 6 days a week and trying to slowly transition over to Lashed with Love to give my clients a chance to see me before I left (so I could give them a heads up) and to make sure I was giving my manager time to find new hires and leave on good terms. I also wanted to make sure we were stable enough at LwL before I quit my job since I had many bills to pay after my surgeries and the wedding. Not only was I working a lot, but the many different aspects that go into a new business is enough to keep me up late nights constantly working on something work related! Then there is everything else that needs to be done in the time in between that gets pushed to the side...I think my poor dogs might have gone a little nutty due to the lack of fresh air and walks! BUT as of this week I am no longer at my other job and am now full time at our new store! I never thought working 40+ hours would be a breeze, but I'm amazed how much more time even just those extra 20 hours can give me! Yay!! I began slowly building my review on MP and tonight finally finished it!! So now that I am not a slave to work, I am fully able to answer any and all questions! Here is my MP review- http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/moon-palace-golf-spa-resort-all-inclusive/reviews/5928 Thanks for being so patient with me ladies! I hope all your planning is going well and you aren't stressing too much. Just remember it WILL WORK OUT!
  14. I LOVE this picture Matt! Juan did such an incredible job! I loved how he was like "oh man, I just thought of something" and dashed out of the room and came back SO excited about the cool picture he just took that he couldn't wait to show me! He was so funny and sweet! I think this was one my favorite pictures: My dad who NEVER dances! Juan got a GREAT picture of this rare and hardly ever seen moment. I love getting to see pictures like this one~ the joy and happiness people had that made them want to just get up and dance!
  15. Samantha~ I agree with Matt! We had a Catholic ceremony (which is about an hour) at 4 pm (the sun set around 5:30), so it only gave us about 30 mins of daylight, and were totally rushing after the ceremony to get the group shots, parent/bride & groom shots, bridal party shots, bride & groom shots, etc. We got some great pictures, but I wish we had more time to have some more fun with different poses and settings. Give yourselves plenty of time so you don't think back and wish you would have gotten a picture that you would have wanted but because of time constraints didn't get. I have to say though the sunset shots that Juan Jose got were amazing! Del Sol was the BEST choice we made in regards to planning our wedding. You can't go wrong! Good Luck!
  16. Oh and I forgot the Packing List template as well: I hope the formats are OK for the attachments...I have a Mac, and still haven't quite figured out what exactly I need to do so PC users can open it as well. K&D Packing List.ppt
  17. Thanks ladies! I thought of a few more things to add, so if I can get my sisters to take the pictures and send them to me I will add them asap!
  18. Thanks ladies! It was amazing and you will be SO happy about your decision! I will post a review as soon as I can! For now though here is my planning thread! It seriously took me about ALL day, but I hope it helps. If I missed anything, let me know. I will start working on my Review hopefully this weekend! Thanks girl! WOW! 10 days!!!!! How exciting! You will LOVE it! One suggestion: Walkie Talkies! That was the BIGGEST pain in the ass!!! No one wanted to use their cells because of roaming, and we didn't have a strict event timeline since we wanted people to do what they wanted during the day, AND of course no one spent any time in their rooms so it wasn't like you could catch people there...it made it REALLY hard to find everyone and not lose people if we needed to run and do something wedding related. People aren't kidding when they say this place is HUGE! This all looks FANTASTIC! Great job! I love everything! So cute and creative! Awww Thanks Coco! You know you were a MAJOR player in getting me ready to go both mentally and with projects! Love you girl!
  19. Hey beautiful ladies! I am back from my amazing wedding and now a Mrs! And now it is time to share my planning journey and give a little back to all of you who have helped me in more ways than one. Thank you to every single Mrs. and Mrs.-to-be on here and especially to all my girls on the Moon Palace 2012 Brides thread! I feel like you girls are my family and NO ONE can even begin to relate to the things we DW brides go through like all of us here on BDW. You girls have been with me through all my ups and downs throughout this entire process and I can't thank you enough! I have made some wonderful friends on here, and hope to continue that friendship beyond BDW. You ladies know who you are! I pray that you all have the most amazing planning experience and weddings, and make lasting friendships on here like I have. Without further ado here is my planning journey: The Engagement Dan proposed to me on August 29th, 2009, on our 4 year anniversary in an amazing restaurant called El Gaucho in Seattle, WA. The funny part of the story that only a few know, was that I HATED the way he proposed to me! A while back he had asked me if he ever proposed, if there was something that I would or would not want in a proposal. Being really shy and not liking attention, I told him that the ONLY thing I would NOT want is to be proposed to in a RESTAURANT because I felt like it was not only cliche, but that I would be so embarrassed to be in the spotlight amongst strangers. Well as you can see, that was EXACTLY what I got! Haha! Dan got up after dinner to "go to the bathroom", and hand our camera to our waiter. When he got back he was acting kind of strange and sitting far away from me in the booth. He got up and walked around the front of the table and got down on one knee right next to me. I can't honestly say I remember anything that he said other than "Will you marry me?", because I was freaking out and asking him to "please get up, please get up, just sit next to me already!", as the entire restaurant was staring right at us! I of course said YES and the long journey began! We originally had set the date to be August 28th, 2010 back in our hometown of Missoula, MT. But I had began to have some worries and hesitations about marrying Dan. We had been living together for almost 4 years, and we struggled on a daily basis with the little things (like level of cleanliness, chores, etc). It was obvious that Dan had gotten very comfortable with me being the maid and his caretaker, but I couldn't stand the thought of being his "mommy" for the rest of my life. I postponed the wedding 4 months before we were to be married, and demanded a MAJOR change if we were to stay together. After many months of counseling and big changes in Dan's maturity and level of responsibility for us and our life together, I felt comfortable talking about marriage again. Dan proposed a 2nd time, but this time in our home with our 2 dogs as help. It was the BEST and everything I wanted from a proposal. The Resort Moon Palace Spa & Golf All-Inclusive Resort It took MONTHS, but we finally narrowed our choices down to the Rivera Maya area, and to the resorts that had an option for a Catholic ceremony. After going back and forth comparing MP and the Casa Magna Marriott package options, reading reviews on BDW, and going through countless pictures on the Del Sol Wiki, we finally decided that MP had the all around best options for us and our guests. I had read many reviews on MP's issue of lack of communication leading up to the wedding, just about everyone said that when their big day was at hand, their coordinators came through and made sure that everything was exactly how they envisioned it. Photography Del Sol Photography Wedding Day: Juan Jose & Melissa TTD: Matt & Sol It was the picture above that made me realize I HAD to have Del Sol shoot our wedding, and if possible our TTD! I couldn't stop looking through the thousands of pictures that were posted on the Del Sol Wiki. Every picture I saw made me more and more excited for our wedding and gave me countless ideas for planning my ceremony and reception. The cenote TTD pictures took my breath away! I couldn't imagine a more magical and exciting way to celebrate our marriage than to forever memorialize one of the BEST times in our life than by Matt and Sol's unique and artistic vision. I will write a longer review on here once I get my own photos, but all in all I had the most AMAZING experience with the all my photographers that made every penny spent FAR beyond worth it. I feel like I have made foever friends with Juan, Melissa, Sol, and most of all Matt. I am so grateful that I got to work with the sweetest people in the world. I LOVE everything about Del Sol and would hire them again in a second! I'm hoping once I get to my goal weight to go back down to Playa del Carmen and have an Underwater Boudoir session with the lovely Sol. It is my motivation to stay on track and get sexy! The Theme Since our date was set for Valentines Day 2012, I wanted a romantic feel to our wedding. I went with shades of pink (since its my favorite color, and a very traditional V-day color), green, and ivory to give that "antique/vintage" feel I was looking for. Attire Brides by Demetrios Sensualle STYLE GR162 Ivory Studio Suits Slim Fit Suits $99 + Vest $45 Heritage Mid-Gray (Terry Rayon) Out of the 4 suits, 2 were PERFECT. The only problem with the other 2 suits were due to error on our end. Dan's suit was REALLY tight, but it was his fault because he was overly ambitious with his weight loss goals (which NEVER happened), and didn't lose enough weight to fit the size he planned on being by our wedding. He ended up having a MAJOR muffin top, and was bursting out of his vest and jacket. I had him button his jacket to hide the strained buttons, but noticed in pictures that with his jacket buttoned, it was so tight that it pulled the vent in the back and exposed his shirt and backside! The 2nd was his youngest brother's suit (farthest on the left). The place he went to to have his measurements taken completely screwed up the measurements. I was told later that the girl measuring him was a complete B!%@$ and told him he was dumb for trusting a company out of the country and ordering online...that he'd be better off if he got a suit from them. Its now believed that she screwed up his measurements on purpose. Fortunately Dan's mother found a pair of slacks that matched perfectly and was able to do something to let the vest out. Unfortunately his jacket was beyond repair, so we had to scrap the jacket look for ALL the Groomsmen. I was a little upset, but with only 2 weeks left, I had to just let it go. I think all in all they looked really good! Express Shirts 1MX Fitted White (SUPER discounted with coupon~Approx $100 for 4 shirts) Ties $50 ea (both Groom & Groomsmen) Bridesmaids: Suzi Chin Bought on Ideeli for $60 each Save the Dates You can read my DIY STD thread here! Invitations Allurements by Rebecca I had attempted to create my own boarding pass invites, but after days of agonizing over just the design, I decided to go to Allurements by Rebecca for my invitations as she had already done a fantastic job on our Monograms. I decided to go with the Passport invites as they were a little more cost effective and have a Boarding Pass RSVP so I could have both styles! She did such a great job and put up with my indecisiveness and countless changes of mind. Even though we spent (WAY) more than we had originally planned and wanted by having the invites made instead of DIY, it was TOTALLY worth every penny as it saved me SO much time and stress. Plus everyone LOVED them and couldn't stop talking about how they were the "coolest" wedding invites they have ever gotten! I ordered 50 Invites that were more "detailed" with more pages, and 20 Invites that were more simple (for the people we knew wouldn't come but thought should get an invite), Boarding Pass RSVP Postcard, and Colored Envelopes with a design on the front, and our a address printed on the back, and full assembly. I loved them! $68.11 Total Etsy YourHappilyEverAfter "I Do" shoe decals in Silver for me, and "Team Bride" for my Bridesmaids. $32.45 Total Red-i by Chelsea Barefoot Jewelry- gifts for my Bridesmaids, my mom, and myself! Hair Flower Custom Necklace- specially made for my TTD with Del Sol! I met the FABULOUS Miss Chelsea here on BDW. After seeing all the amazing barefoot jewels, I knew I HAD to have some for myself and my girls. After seeing all her other work, I couldn't just stop there! I also ended up getting a custom made hair flower and necklace as well. I showed my mom the girls' barefoot jewels, and she thought they were the COOLEST thing and wanted to try them all on. After seeing how excited she was I decided I would get her a pair as well. I surprised her when she arrived with these beautiful jewels and she freaked! She wore them pretty much the whole week! Chelsea was so great and fun to work with! She totally understands the needs of brides, and worked SO SO SO hard to make the design process as easy and fun as possible. She was VERY prompt at emailing me back and was so sweet with me and my crazy nit-picking. She kept telling me it was OK to know what I wanted and that all she wanted was to give me the most beautiful piece of jewelry I could possibly envision. SHE DELIVERED! I was so thrilled with everything she made me! I will most definitely be going back to her for all my jewelry needs! I think she is my new addiction! Thank you Chelsea for making me sparkle and feel like a princess on my wedding day! I think that is all for now! I will update and post more if anything else comes to mind. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. I hope this helps all you future brides out there! And thanks again to all the past and present brides on here who made getting ideas and planning my wedding MUCH easier by your contributions on BDW. Love to all and happy planning! Mrs. Smith P.S. 20. Hi all my BEAUTIFUL ladies! I'm BACK and now a MRS! I'm sorry it has been EONS since I have been on here! The last 5 months or so have been a crazy complete whirlwind of wedding planning, holidays, business trips, family drama, and my surgeries of course. I feel so awful that I abandoned you all! I hope you are all doing well and are enjoying your planning. I can say I am more than relieved for all the planning to be OVER! Whew! For someone who is not all that creative and who likes things very organized and done well ahead of time, and who has a hard time making decisions and sticking to them, this was quite a challenge for me. I really got so much help from all you ladies. I can't tell you how your support and love got me through a lot of hard times. I love you ALL! I am putting together my planning thread and my MP review, so stay tuned!!! If any of you have any questions or need some help, feel free to email me on my personal email: [email protected] I check my email more often than I check my messages here, so I will be able to get back to you more quickly! Love and best wishes from a very appreciative Mrs. Smith!
  21. This is incredible! I don't know HOW you guys do it...you never fail to completely impress me with EVERY photo I see. They just keep getting better! You are without a doubt the BEST there is. So excited!
  22. Hi Ladies! I'm Baaaaaaack! After weeks of being absent from pretty much all activity I am back and hopefully in action. I'm starting to feel the pressure as our 90 days is coming up FAST and I have been out of commission for far far too long. I logged on to BDW and saw I had an incredible 250+ posts to read! DANG ladies! You guys have been busy busy bees! I really enjoyed reading all your updates and posts. I would love to comment on all of them but I'm sure it wouldn't be nice to take up SEVERAL pages with my comments!!! Keep up the amazing work ladies! I hope to get more stuff done and posted soon! So I suppose a little updating is needed: My baby girl Bianca seems to be doing better...tests are still somewhat inconclusive (we are supposed to give a urine sample every week or so), but she seems to be back to normal in other areas. She is eating and drinking normally, no accidents, seems happy, wants to play...etc. The only thing we know is that her red blood cell count was slightly elevated which could mean EARLY stages of kidney failure. I pray so hard every day that is not the case. Almost 2 weeks ago I had a little elective surgery done! Unfortunately it was terrible timing financially, but with the wedding coming up it seemed like there was no better time to do it. Lets just say I was "blessed" with ample breast tissue at a young age. The not so great part was that I did not develop normally. Ever since I was a teenager I wanted to do a breast lift since I knew compared to most other girls I looked like I had the chest of a 50 year old! I also gained weight (about 35 lbs to be exact) once I left my hometown. I have been working my butt off for the last year and a half and have been able to lose what I had gained (although I was already a tad on the chubby side before the gain and even with 35 lbs down I have probably another 15 lbs to lose). With the weight loss my sagging and unevenness had become even more exaggerated. Soooooo I decided to fly ALL the way to Salt Lake to a fabulous Dr. York Yates and get a breast lift! For the first time in my life I am feeling secure and confident in myself and almost feel like doing a bit of this !! TeeHee!! Ok maybe not, but I know I will feel much better in a bathing suit and in my dress having NORMAL looking Ta Tas!! The unfortunate part is I have to go back early December for round 2 as I had some majorly messed up boobies and it needed to be done in 2 seperate procedures. YUCK! After that though I will be lookin DANG good! Anyways---needless to say I have been pretty much stuck in bed all doped up on pain meds and not functioning much at all. But I am back to work tomorrow (praying I can do it as I am an Esthetician and use my upper body a lot), and I hope to be back to wedding planning asap! Again, all you amazing ladies have been such an inspiration, and I'm glad to have you at my side through all the Ups and Downs of wedding planning. I love you guys!!!!! AHHHHHH We have less people attending then what we anticaped, we are at 24 guests including us and expecting maybe 6 more. I am horrible at making decisions and really need some input the fiance is not a good decision maker either! We feel a semi-private dinner is not what we want mainly because we still want it to feel like a reception. So when trying to pick a location for the private reception we want somewhere that is not huge so that way we do not feel so spread out. (make sense? lol) Any suggestions ladies!!! I know how you feel! We are about 3 months out as well and it is like PULLING teeth to get people to just freakin RSVP!!! We only have 12 people booked and don't even know really how many others will book. The thing that get me worked up into a worried mess is that we have until NOV 11TH for people to have at least 50% of their rooms paid....so 4 DAYS!!! UGHHHHHH!! And those who have booked most are only coming for 3 days...REALLY 3 days?!?! Wow ok well I guess thats their business...but as it stands right now we only have 33 nights booked!! Geesh! OK enough venting-----so I am in the same position as you in a way. Part of me wants to just do the semi private reception to save MUCHO $$ but at the same time I want it to feel like a REAL reception with dancing, cake, toasts-the WORKS! At this point we have the Tucan Terrace booked as its fairly small and still close to the water. Do you have the list of reception sites? I know they list how many people each one accommodates. You could maybe pick one that fits a smaller amount? Quote: Originally Posted by ChipmunkRN I'm so excited!! My custom hanger came today for my dress, I LOVE IT!!! They also took our crappy laptop and all of our change. They didn't take coach purses or gucci purse but all the change out of those purses? Not sure how they found all my jewelry, but they did! Lesson learned. Anything worth that much, put in a safe or safety deposit box. The kicker is....our homeowner insurance probably won't cover it either!!!! I want to beat the MOFOs up that did this!!!! I am SO sorry to hear this. I can only imagine. I had my purse broken into at work (by people who did not work there) and felt totally violated as well. I couldn't believe that these people had their hands ALL over my stuff and took everything in it! I can't believe there are people out there that do that. We have also had MASS car break ins at my apartment complex lately and I worry about that as well. I pray in the end you can recover some of the precious heirlooms and other property. WHAT JERKS!
