We did a welcome dinner with all 55 of our guests at Calabash.  We also did another welcome dinner for 23 of us at the hibachi grill.  The hibachi is fun - I just don't know if they would accomodate such a large group. You might as well ask and if not, the Mexican could be fun.

I had the same size group and I was told no for the hibachi.. They do not give the suites that many reservations. We had a group of 12 in there and I"m not even sure 70 would fit unless they cooked at all different times? We did our welcome dinner at the Mediterranean and it was great! We also did a group dinner for 35 at the steakhouse

Thanks so much!!!!! So helpful. :) Also was looking to source little blue mountain coffee bags (or something similar) as favors and sparklers. Did anyone find either of these in jamaica?

Two Questions;

1. Welcome Dinner - Does this cost additional?  Or, is this simply a group dinner reservation that you set up through the resort upon your arrival? Our family members only arrive 1 day prior to everyone else and I thought it'd be a nice idea to have dinner together that same night.  That being said, I'm not sure if a group dinner costs $$ to arrange?

2. Golf - Does anyone have an idea of the going rates and or nearby courses?  Eventually, my fiancée will be looking to set up a golf game... but the rates that we've found to date are higher than we had anticipated.

For the group dinner, it depends on your headcount.  Anything larger than 25 they say would have to be a set menu and below that you are able to order from the menu, but either way they are not private and do not cost anything extra.  (if you want a private event, there would be an extra charge I'm sure).  We did one group dinner at the steakhouse for 28 (it was the night before the rest of our 25 guests came) but we sat at 2 large tables so I didn't have to get the food choices.

My husband is a avid golfer (he golfs 3-4 times a week) so he and 10 guys went to play the morning of our wedding.  They played at the Hilton, it was called Cinnamon Hill.  It was around $200 a guy to play but included the round, clubs, shoes, and a caddy.  He said it was 100% worth it!  It's just down the road from Iberostar and the shuttle for the hotel took them there.  There were all levels of golfers with him and they all enjoyed it!

Thanks!  This is great news!  We have a much smaller party on arrival night... so hopefully it won't be a problem for them to accommodate.  Is this still something that is taken care of once you arrive... or can the WC reserve the space for us?

That's such a great question. I seen all these bride having welcome dinners and rehersal dinners and i too was wondering if there was an additional cost to those? Since you are flying out of Ottawa as well i love to hear your feedback when you have your special day :)

There is a section of the final details sheet that asks what you would like to do for your Rehearsal Dinner. It stated there was no extra cost, but it would count against the allotted ala carte restaurants for your guests (I have heard they sometimes don't count that though). The form I had stated it was limited to 40 people, and groups over 25 people had to choose from a set menu. I got the form in 2012 for my April wedding, so they may have updated it since then.

Yes, for sure!  We are booked with ACV via T.O.  We are a confirmed group of 32 - bigger than what we had initially anticipated, lol

Given that we're about 4 months out, I'm pretty sure that I'll be asking alot of questions in the coming months. This forum has been my go to...so helpful to date!!
