Excellence Playa Mujeres Brides Post Here!

Lauren, what time of year is your wedding?  It's seems a very ambitious to have your reception during the hottest part of the day with people drinking and dancing in the sun.  Far be it from me to tell you what to do, but even in the winter months, that sounds hot!  Then again, you have the entire afternoon and evening to party with no stress!  I also think the event terrace benefits a lot by being lit up beautifully at night.  I have some shots of it during the day which I can send to you if you are interested.  Perhaps you might consider taking your reception to one of the indoor restaurants?

No, I didnt find the wind too much of a problem.  As Matt pointed out in his post, I think the benefits to the beach far outweigh the disadvantages. Part of getting married outside is that nature is part of it and as long as there isn't a monsoon coming, you should be fine.

We will pretty much advise all of our clients (unless for religious or cultural reasons) to avoid MID DAY weddings.   Primary reason is its hot, really really hot, and secondarily its just the worst time of day for lighting people, harsh direct down highlights and shadows make for tough photo conditions.    Plus, we charge per hour and bill hours consecutively so I'm not sure it would work out for most budgets NOR us because we will have to be in the hotel from 10am until 8 or 9pm shooting, we live 1.5 hours away driving to PDC....  :(  That makes about a 12 or 13 hr day)

Got a little about our thoughts on planning the perfect ceremony start time: http://delsolphotography.com/blog/index.php/seasonalguide.flo

For sure, contact us if you would like our best advice... we know how to "see light" beyond belief and advise all of our clients who invest in our services about what would make their photo day look amazing based on a timeline.  info @ delsolphotography.com is our email (obviously with no spaces.)

I completely agree about spending the money for the pictures. I love pictures, they take you right back to the moment and what a moment you had! Just beautiful! I must call DelSol and book them asap!

My future husband wanted our wedding to be as early as possible, so I chose the 11am timeslot ... I am truly hoping that the reception will be as beautiful since we will night have the night sky to drape us on the terrace. All I can picture is being extremely hot!

Did you find the wind bothersome at all during the ceremony on the beach? That was another of my fears.

Thank you all for the excellent advice! Now I have some concrete data to bring back to my fiance to support my quest to move the time of our wedding later in the day.

I just got word back that DelSol is not available on my wedding day of November 4. Major bummer, but they did recommend Elizabeth Medina. Her website shows some beautiful wedding photographs as well. Anyone out there used her services? Maybe you know her Matt?

Hey ladies - I have a stupid question. I am in the process of having my invites done but am struggling with the city. I know its not Riviera Maya, Mexico or Cancun, Mexico.

What did everyone else use? Playa Mujeres, Mexico? (even though its really not on a map)  huh.gif

@Lauren that stinks they are not available on your day :(  I am sure who they recommended is just as good.

Not a stupid question! I struggled with that myself. I ended up going with Playa Mujeres, Mexico... I'm curious as to what the other brides answer on this one.

Hi Trisha,

I, too, am getting married at EPM on August 19th!!! How funny is that?!?!

What time is your ceremony? Is it at the beach or under the gazebo? I am starting to feel anxious because there are still a ton of details that I have yet to confirm. Yamina has been great about responding to my questions via email, but sometimes it takes 2-3 days for her to respond.

Congrats to all the newly engaged brides!

I am leaving in TWO days to go down and see the EPM with my maid of honor. I even get to meet Yamina in person on Monday. I am really excited to get to see the property!!! I hope it is everything I hope for!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
