For those of you that ordered from Davids Bridal...

Recommended Posts

I just found my perfect dress @ Davids (style V9458- sorry i couldnt post it) but I have a bit of a dilemma.....

I am super short- 5'1ish....and I do not want to have the train on the dress (and i dont want to bustle it either).

I can order the dress in petite but it will come with the train......so i will have to get that taken off...annnd even though they take 4 inches off everywhere in the dress, i may even still need to get the dress shortened more because i am planning on going barefoot...

OR

I can order the dress regular WITHOUT the train.....so i would just have to get it shortened, but then with my being shorter than everyone else, the dress because its regular all around may look out of proportion...

i tried the dress on in regular and i personally LOVED how it fit, and how it looked...but the saleslady said that its suppose to fit lower and she said it would look better proportioned with my size if i got the petite..

my wedding is april 21st 2009......they said that i can order the dress in petite with a train and it will come in 3 months........has anyone gotten their dress from david bridal this quicklyhuh.gif

she also said that if it didnt fit right and i wanted to go to the regular i can order it again regular without the train...but then it would be another 3 months, IF it actually does come in on time.....

What would you ladies do?! Go with the petite? Go with the regular? I am showing my mom who lives out of town the dress in a couple of weeks (thats the earliest we could get together and have an appt.) so i will be ordering it mid July....i would be ok if i HAD to order the dress a second time around, but thats only IF the dress actually does come in the 3 months they said it would...

Help!

I got my dress from David's Bridal. I didn't order it though. I just went in for my first fitting and the lady told me it is much easier to take a dress in then to let it out. The seams look better that way. I would go try it on again and see if you can talk to the alterations lady and see what she thinks. They are actually pretty good with it. They can remove the train if you want. It is expensive though keep that in mind. I just paid three hundred dollars to get mine shortened and to put a french bustle in it.

I am petite, same height as you, and I got a regular size dress from DB and had it altered. I wanted the train though, but I did have the material cut out and just kept the lace for the train. I bought mine at the store off the rack, so I got mine really cheap. I think they can get them so quickly because they sell them off the rack a lot, so I would believe they can do it that fast. Which dress is it? Can you show us the link. I say go with petite and get the train cut off later, its not a big deal to do that really. This way you know it will be what you want and it might not need to be hemmed at all.

My dress is from DB too! I got mine right off the rack and it was the first store I went in for a dress.( got engaged Dec 8 and found my dress Jan 12.. hehehehe) I loved it. However it didn't come in petite and since I am only 5'2... they have some work to do with shortening it ... but they told me not to worry about it. If they had come in petite I would have gotten it that way ... my "girls" don't fill it out and 5" off the bottom because I too am going bearfoot.

Go with the petite and have them cut off the train...

I also got mine from David's and it came in less then 3 months. I agree order the petite. I too am having my train hacked off!! I think the petite is made to fit the smaller frame better.

I just ordered mine last week from Davids and they told me it will be in by August. My friend got hers from there around 6 months ago and they told her it would take 3 months and they called her within less then 2 months. I think they tell people 3 months to play it safe but they usually get them in sooner then that. Anyways...I would probably order the petite and if you didnt like the fit you would still have time to order the regular.

I was at DB this afternoon and they told me that if I placed the order today, the earliest it would be ready is September (didn't specify which part of September), so that's about two months.

I ordered my dress from David's and they told me it would be in in three months... it came in 3 WEEKS! I actually called them back to make sure it was MY dress it came in so fast. So, from my experience I would think you would have enough time to make a change if need be.

I bought my dress from DB and took it home. After I got home I realized that it was available in a petite size. I'm 5'2 so I'm guessing that the petite size should be just about perfect. They told me the dress would be ready by the end of September (ordered at the end of May). They just called me on the weekend and the dress IS IN!!!!!

I'll let you know how it fits when I pick it up woot.gif

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
