Wedding dress alteration advice...

Recommended Posts

Glenda, that dress is gorgeous !!!

I would take the dress in immediately to let the waist out.

Forget about the bustle if it is only for the church.

If it's tight in the bust take off your bra. It made a huge difference when I was gown shopping!

I can;t wait to see you in the dress!!!

One other trick. To help the dress fit, you may need to hold your boobs up and out of the dress while someone else zips you in. Then, you stuff them back in the dress. That way the dress zips and you have life without wearing a bra!

Thanks ladies. We don't have a photog so there won't be any pics other than the random people snapping with their digitals.

I refuse, REFUSE to wear this dress to my FMIL's shinding. I want to get that dress off as soon as possible! If I can get away with it I will wear white juicy sweatpants and a white sweatshirt type thing. LOL. Hello its a backyard!

If not I will find some plain white dress to wear, I refuse to wear a full dress to the backyard.

I have to get the dress pressed so maybe I will ask the cleaners if they can do the wrist thing that Maura was talking about.

I tried it on with a bra (my everyday bra) so I will try it on without one, b/c I really don't think I need one. However, I have AF (just got it today) so I have a feeling I'm bloated and it won't give me an accurate portrayl of how it fits! Uggh!

Ok seeing as you're only wearing it to the church - I agree that you shouldn't get a bustle.

And since dumb AF showed up, def give yourself a couple days to get back to your "normal body" before you make any decisions. NOTHING fits me the same when I first get AF. It's sooooo irritating.

I would agree with the idea that you should have a wristlet done.

I had to have the bust let out of a BM dress, and in my experience, the dress was triple stitched in the inside, meaning that there were two layers that could be let out, a simple steaming fixed up the seams, and created a far more comfortable situation!

Glenda,

i just read through all of this...

I say No alterations and bustle

Yes to wrist loop.

and Yes to White Juicy sweatsuit to backyard - why don't you take that over somewhere and get "Mrs.xxxx" ebroidered on it?

that would be cute then you wear it on the plane to your Honeymoon too.

i mean really, when else are you going to do that?

Definitely agree...no alterations and no bustle. I think the dress is soooo pretty! I love the cut of the front. You've been kicking butt with your workout and diet, so I'm sure you'll have more than enough room to zip that puppy up! Congrats on finding something! You had me real worried :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
