ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I took a vacation at the Royal in December and fell in love with the resort. My fiance and I plan on getting married there in November 2011.

I am brand new to the forum and planning so I would appreciate any advice. Do you ladies know how many months in advance we need to book? Am I already too late to book November? How much is the deposit amount?

Thanks! And congrats to everyone!

just check on the Royal's wedding website http://weddings.realresorts.com/planning/ you can go through the calendar, packages and extras. You don't have to submit the info at the end and it gives you an idea of what dates and locations are available along with an estimate of cost for any extras you might want (DJ, flowers, etc.).

hope that helps. deposit was $200 USD when i booked, i'm not sure if it has gone up since.

if you know which date / week you want, i would look and book soon   =)

I agree, I feel like its crunch time now!   Time does FLY!!  The stress is starting to settle in a bit, I just want the planning and DIY projects to be over and just have the day to enjoy.

we've already made it as simple as possible (no cake, limited alcohol, use of same DIY & real touch flowers as DW, no decorations....) but it still feeling overwhelmed. FI had a big freak out over the cost and we got into an argument about it all. it's not like it was my parents who kept pushing, pushing and insisting on a 300 guest AHR. we've just about maxed out the restaurant capacity *WTF* ergh, feels like the same argument from months ago so i won't go into it but it's just frustrating when his parents wanted the AHR but backed out on forking out the cash for it and left us holding the bill.

the norm is guests to the reception will bring a money gift, usually to cover their food cost. so we're hoping there will be enough there that we don't end up with a giant loss.

just can't wait to get that part done so we can go to mexico and start the celebration WE want.

! :'(  I'm sorry your arguing with your FI, I'm sure you dont' need that added stress right now.  300! wow.  I though we had a lot at 143.  But then again, that is only my family and friends.  The FI doesn't really have any family.  Sucks about ur in-laws.  I hope you at least break even

Welcome!  Their is SO much information on this site!! from florists to rehersal dinner places on 5th ave., to questions your WC won't answer fast enough.

My advice book EARLY! We wanted to book our date 2 years in advance and to make a long story short, we were told it was too early and had to wait so we did and we didn't get the origional date we wanted.  :(  All worked out though.  Our deposit was also $200.

Also I'd make a spread sheet and list things you want for your wedding, how much you intend on spending and how many people.  Price out how much each package is and compare it to how much it would be for the "free" package.

Good luck planning! Your date will be here before you know it! !

hey ladies - had a question for the group. out of sheer curiosity, how much are you paying per night for a junior suite (non-ocean view)? I was talking with another bride offline, and she mentioned her rate was $140/night, which seemed to good to be true, considering the lowest prices on the royal website are $320/night.

does booking through a travel agent offer such a significant discount? are you all getting similar rate quotes? I was going to just have everyone book through our wedding coordinator (who offers an additional ~10% off the royal rack rates, even when discounted), but I'll definitely use an agent if the savings are so phenomenal.

thanks for any feedback. : )

Kelly,

I am a Canuck, living on the east coast, and we usually go with package deals from the airlines.  The cheapest I EVER seen was during the flu+hurricane season in 2009, It was like $1400 per person with flight, so remove the plane tix at around $700 per person(assume we fly with Canadian airlines, not with Americans), the room would still cost more than $140 per night.

The only way I can get $140 is...u book at the Gran Porto with a package deal..and then upgrade it at $50 per room per night to the Royal. I 've done it, because I was told that the Royal was full, so I booked the Gran Porto and was offered to upgrade to the Royal upon check in.

Welcome backl!  Can I ask what the "hang-ups" were and who your WC was?  I leave in 7 days so curious what I should prepare myself for. :)

The cheapest I've ever seen the rooms were $300-$330 a night.  Maybe she meant $140 per person?

Hi, Kelly!

I'm  using a TA for my guests, and she got a rate of $314 per night, which includes shared roundtrip airport transfers for 2. I would agree that she might have meant $140 per person, per night. Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
