Hi everyone! My name is Danielle and I am new-ish! I have been on here since May, but haven't actually posted anything because most of my questions are answered right in the forums. I am getting married on 5 May (4 months and 4 days! Ahh!), and as I have already used this site so much, I thought I would say hello Me and my fiance (Chris) are from Vancouver Island (BC) and currently live outside Whistler. We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, and we are so excited! We chose a DW, because, like so many couples, having family across the country was difficult to choose a spot. We discovered that an all inclusive in Mexico was cheaper than travelling 7 days to Toronto or Kelowna. Plus, this was a compromise from my lovely fiance, who actually wanted to elope vs a big wedding Current projects are favours and decor. Did any of you have any troubles bringing edible favours/OOT bags into Mexico? That was my only fear, but I didn't want to spend the money on non-edible favours because so many get left behind. Thanks everyone for all the insight so far; looking forward to being more visible on this site! Talk soon!

Hi Everyone, This is my first time on a forum site so please bare with me! I have just finished my confirmation for my beach destination wedding at Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana, DR for May 28th 2016. I am just starting, as I have just booked my room, paid the deposit, chosen the beach gazebo and Tropical Convention Center for the wedding/reception at 5pm. I have chosen the Fairy Tale Tropical package and am expecting arounf 40 guests. There are a few things I am still very curious on, like decor thats used there, flowers, name tags, DJ for the reception (costs associated with all these)? Photographer? Make up and hair (they have a salon there but...if anyone has used them or has any feedback on their services that would be greatly appreciated. What kind of items do I need to be brining there as far as the ceremony and reception? Just finding a place with the available date has been so much work in itself, and just like everyone else my time is limited as I go to work FT and am pursuing the Masters in the evening with school. Talk about a stress diet that will keep my thin for the wedding . I am going to try and continue to stay as active and invloved on this site!! Conrats to everyone who is planning their special day as well!

Hello! Recently engaged and planning on a beach wedding in May 2017. We plan to rent a condo on the beach and use a planning company to set up the arbor. We will have less than 10 people in attendance, so no chairs. My dad will likely walk me down the aisle, but from where?! Does everyone watch us walk all the way from the parking lot/condo to the altar? This seems so awkward! Does anyone have ideas on how to make this less awkward? Thank you!!!

I just ordered a frame on etsy for our sand ceremony. I'm just wondering where everyone got their sand for the sand ceremony. The frame doesn't come with sand. I know you can buy some on etsy, but I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I think I would prefer to be able to go to a store to pick the sand out so I can see the colors in person. Any suggestions???

I saw a lot of comments about MarWeddings, but I wasn't able to review them in the "Vendor Reviews" tab, so hopefully this will show up for anyone interested! The only reason I was able to enjoy my wedding day so much was because of Gaby and the MarWeddings team. They organized and decorated flawlessly. Gaby was so professional, but also so warm, friendly, and helpful- it took so much pressure off of me and my wedding party. She stepped back to let us enjoy the evening, but gave us a tap on the shoulder during the appropriate times for the wedding introductions, speeches, first dances, etc. (now back to the beginning stages of the planning process). I had reached out to 5 or 6 wedding planners in the Puerto Vallarta area to get an idea of what I wanted, pricing, and figure out if I liked the person I was going to be talking to over the next 9 months. From the minute I talked to Gaby from MarWeddings, I was at ease. I wanted to confirm and get a contract in place asap so no one else could reserve our date, but she assured me the date was reserved and wouldn't send across a contract until she had a full understanding of what I wanted for the big day, and I had an understanding of what Mar Weddings could provide, and we had agreed on a detailed budget that she put together, which included venue (Sandzibar Beachfront Restaurant), DJ, dance floor, lighting, flowers, photographer (Joann Arruda), hotel (our only frustration, but not because of MarWeddings), salon appointments (Paloma Garcia), church (La Cruz de Huanacaxtle), transportation, etc. I don't live in Mexico, and I wasn't able to visit Puerto Vallarta (actually, our wedding was in Nuevo Vallarta) before the big day, but MarWeddings did an AMAZING job of staying in touch, checking in, sending regular updates, and giving advice. I shared a pintrest board of what I was interested in, and she was able to sift through it and figure out how to make everything look great in real life, while respecting our wedding budget. They are the professionals, and I appreciated every piece of advice Gaby gave me (from adding a little bit of color to our tables with blue napkins, to NOT sending out our contact number in Mexico to our 130 guests the week of the wedding for questions). Gaby was able to send samples of various photographers, videographers, and several options of decor and style for the big day. Gaby was able to reserve the date ($ time) and follow up with the church to make sure they received all of our documents. Once we got to Puerto Vallarta, the team received us flawlessly. Gaby set up a nail appointment, dance lesson, food tasting, and church visit with some of the team (Miroslava, Juan, and Guillermo). It was such a fun way to get ready for the wedding, and I was able to give them the wedding favors and some stuff I got for the big day. The team is amazing, and I instantly loved all of them. My husband and I decided we wanted to extend the timing of the wedding to 2am (only 4 days before the wedding), and Gaby and the MarWeddings team were SO flexible and were able to quickly send the price update and accommodate our request. On the day of the wedding everything was PERFECT. After my hair and makeup appointment, we had about an hour to get ready at our hotel, where I was able to relax with the wedding party, have a glass of champagne, and put on my dress. The car to take us to the church was right on time and when we arrived, our guests had started sitting down in the church. After the ceremony, we spent some time with our photographer (Joann Arruda), when we got to the reception everyone was already having a great time- the DJ adjusted the music because our guests were ready to dance (I appreciated the flexibility). The reception was GORGEOUS. I had seen the venue at the food tasting, but the way Mar Weddings decorated was breathtaking. The string lights over the dance floor were amazing, the tables were simple and elegant, and the decorations were better than I imagined. We had a very multi-cultural wedding, and Mar Weddings was able to help balance that at the reception. Honestly, I can't believe how perfectly everything went- she reserved the church for a 3:30pm ceremony, so that we would get to the beach reception around 5:00/5:30 just in time to have a few drinks and enjoy the sunset on the beach. My husband and family agree that getting the wedding planner was the best money we spent on the wedding. Everyone (including myself) was able to enjoy the celebration in such a beautiful location and I really can't thank MarWeddings enough. Sophia Z Please note: I've published similar reviews on a few different websites because when I was searching for a wedding planner online it was difficult to find the information I needed, but this is the most comprehensive review I've published for MarWeddings. Feel free to email me questions at [email protected] (this was our wedding email address)

I never thought planning a wedding would be so overwhelming. I just contacted a travel agent through a list of specialized Royal Wedding Specialist ( We want the Royal Playa Del Carmen). I am not sure if that was the right first step, or if I was supposed to reach out to someone from the hotel first. Are the prices online, pretty close to accurate - Im not sure how to figure all that out. I know I need a photographer out there, so any recommendation would be great! I am also super interested in a videographer. I decided on a destination wedding because I thought it would be more affordable. Is 10k a realisitc amount for a wedding of 20-40 people? any advice, input etc would be great!

Hello, I am new to this site and hoping to get some help making a decision on which resort to book for my wedding in November 2016. I have spent countless hours going over the different options and feel like I am going crazy! My goal is to keep the trip as cost effective for my guests as possible while having a beautiful beach wedding with some good food and dancing.. I am a low maintenance, easy going bride, all I want is to do is pick a couple flowers and show up with a dress and my man As result I have narrowed it down to the following: 1. Riu Yucatan (I LOVE the beach!) 2. Grand Bahia Principe Tulum 3. Riu Playacar If anyone has any experiences with any of these hotels I would love to hear it! I read a lot of reviews on Trip Advisor and it's hard to tell which are unbiased and which are fake.. Thank you! Joanna

Hi Lovely Ladies, I absolutely love looking at wedding welcome bags! I think they're such an awesome idea for welcoming guests to a destination wedding. I'm getting married in June 2016 (yay!) and I've been looking at the cutest totes on baggedandloaded.etsy.com . I'm torn between deciding on a few of the designs (see the images). Which design do you like best? Have any of you thought of using welcome totes? Which do you think is better, paper or canvas? Do you know of any other sites that sell great designs? I'd love to know what you think.
