Hi Brides! We have been looking through so many websites, magazines and brochures to find our perfect location. We think we finally found it, but the resort is brand new. Like not even open yet, brand new. It is set to open December 2015 and we are looking to book May 2016. I am super nervous to book anything and wondering if anyone else out there has gone through the process of booking somewhere so new. http://www.vacancestmr.com/en/hotels-south/CCCIBO/ Appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks!!!

Hi all brides to be! I am very excited that I am going to have a destination wedding. I just love the beach at Cancun after the visit last summer. Ocean water is just unreal...it's the most beautiful beach I've seen so far. As you all know, planning is a long and tedious process and I am already being indecisive on the resorts. I have few resorts in mind and I would like to hear your opinions. Whether you heard, been or had a wedding at those resorts, please provide some insights! I would like to have the ceremony on a terrace, gazebo or lawn (just not on the beach) with estimated guests 25-30. I haven't been to any of these resorts only done research. 1. Iberostar Cancun I know this is a big resorts and has a lot of amenities. The room cost is reasonable. However, the hotel seems older? Also, I NEED WEDDING CONTACT for this hotel. I emailed them for the wedding detail and got no response. Brides, please provide if you have their contact! 2. Beach Palace This is the smallest and most expensive of the 4 resorts. Looks like a lot of people had/are going to have their weddings hold here. The sky terrace just looks amazing. 3. ME Cancun I actually couldn't find a lot of wedding information online for this resort. Is there a reason why people don't have their weddings here? Hotel looks modern and nice. I got wedding information from their sales agent and the wedding package looks reasonable. 4. Fiesta Americana Condesa This looks like a big resort too, very comparable to Iberostar. One thing concerns me is their food...they don't look like they have Asian restaurant onsite? Majority of my group, including me and my fiance are Asian, and it may be a problem if they don't serve Asian food at all . We are planning to do a site visit in June. I would like to narrow down to 2 or 3 and really take a look. Please help!! If you happen to have pictures/info please send to me at [email protected]. Thank you all!

So my fiancè & I have narrowed it down to a handful of Adults Only resorts in Punta Cana to tie the knot! Our top choice at this point is Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort, but I am having a hard time finding recent wedding reviews from the resort! Have any other brides booked or thinking about booking this resort for their wedding? How many guests are you planning to attend? Reviews are so mixed for ALL of the resorts we have looked at! I am trying to take it with a grain of salt, but it is so difficult since our financial situation does not allow us to take a trip prior to! Thanks for any and all advice, tips, reviews and stories in advance! Happy planning brides & congrats to you all!

We just got engaged last week and have already decided we want to do a destination wedding! We're thinking Mexico because it's probably the most affordable for everyone coming. I'm just wondering what the average price is for a wedding in Mexico. And does anyone have any suggestions for great resorts with more affordable wedding packages? Any advice helps here as we're just starting to look. Thanks!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has researched and reported on countries that have tap water that is safe to drink. Below is an infographic that shows countries they deem safe for drinking out of the tap as well as suggestions on how to avoid getting sick while travelling. Please also note, that although some countries show that it is unsafe to drink out of the tap, some resorts in the countries have taken steps to make their tap water safe to drink.

Hello, my name is Lori, and I am getting married in late May, 2017 on Peaks Island, Maine. This is to be a 3-4 day destination wedding (4 days for the bridal party), and I have just started planning the logistics. It will be somewhat coastal-themed, with lanterns, etc. I would love to meet someone who is having another coastal wedding, especially one that is not in a tropical location. Plus, I'm going crazy just looking at pictures of wedding dresses. Happy to be here!

Ladies, Okay.... so I need some consoling... The resorts I've been considering offer locations OTHER than the beach for ceremonies. Yes, you can get married on the beach, but they also let you get married in garden settings, and indoor settings, restaurants and even your room!!! Not sure how feel about a restaurant setting, unless it were raining. (which mostly they use as a rain contingency location) Anyway, some of the garden settings and semi indoor locations (rooms with only 3 walls)are really pretty and have paved floors. Which by the way is why this option is so appealing- it solves my shoe dilemma! So I have to ask... Am I crazy for wanting to get married at a tropical resort but not on the beach, just so I can wear a great pair of shoes? Oh btw.. wearing shoes is not the only reason, it's just the primary reason. I think ( based on the website photos) that the greenery will make a fantastic backdrop for photos.. Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

So I am just engaged since August and I would like to start planning. DOes anyone have any advice for me as to best places to have wedding. I'm thinking Mexico, but I have no idea where. I want it to be beautiful with blue waters and a nice resort, but also inexpensive for my guests to travel. People are mostly coming from NY. DOes anyone have any recommendations? I also am a teacher, so would love to get married in Summer, but by next summer would that be too soon? Can I plan it all in less than a yr. Has anyone used destinationweddings.com, or have you used this website? I would get married over a school break maybe, but I think it may be more expensive to travel then. Thanks to anyone who could help! Im also not set on Mexico, just want the pretty water. Lauren

We are from the US and we decided to have our wedding in Cabo at Pueblo Bonito. The experience was beyond AMAZING! Our wedding planner, Denise Acosta, was wonderful! The hotel was clean, beautiful, and created a relaxing paradise for our guests. Everyone who stayed raved about how amazing the place was which was important to us because it was a long trip for many of them. The hotel was so accommodating to our needs and the entire staff went out of their way to make our guests and us feel taken care of and special. The big day truly went without error, which I am told can be quite rare. I am a very detail oriented person and Denise made sure all of the little details of the wedding were in place and that schedule was kept. Our wedding was on the beach- which was gorgeous. We had a cocktail hour at the firepit and a private dinner reception by the pool with dj Arturo Ortiz. He was fabulous and played all our requests as well as great dance music. Everyone had a blast and the event felt very private. People at the resort thanked us the day after the wedding for picking such a great dj because they were able to enjoy his music from the distance- which was funny. The food was absolutely amazing and far exceeds any typical wedding food or resort food. Overall, it was the perfect experience. I am grateful to the hotel for a breathtaking wedding and a great experience! Five stars out of five!

Let The Planning Games Begin
girlinthecity97 posted a blog entry in girlinthecity97's Wedding Planning Adventures
While we had been talking of getting married for a while, things became "official" on Saturday, November 30th. While in my mismatched pj's with my hair tied up in a scarf and no one around, my fiance shocked me by (FINALLY) popping the question and presenting a ring that had been a post-it note doodle (instead of one of the 2 settings I'd picked as "options"). He's pretty conservative and always wants to "see-it" especially when it comes to big purchases. So the fact that he went with my doodle was HUGE! I'm glad he did . Planning Frenzy: Finally feeling "super official" I set out on a planning rampage. Since my fiance is so easy-going and a "pleaser", I felt it only fair to consider a destination wedding since this was something he felt strongly about. Against his feedback, I made a beeline for Barnes & Noble to buy The Knot's Destination Wedding guide and a planner - which I now realize, I really didn't/don't need. Armed with my fancy new planning guide and planner, I sat down and followed the advice of a good happily-married friend: "Pick 3-5 MUST-Haves and forget the rest." My top 3 were "no-brainers" (and thankfully aligned with my fiance's): Location - get pricing for "home" (here in the states) vs. a Destination. For the Destination, I used my own travel experience to help us choose a location that would give us (and our guests) the biggest "bang for buck" while being fairly easy & affordable to get to. All roads led to MEXICO! Food - a resort that had not just decent but GREAT food. We love a great meal and have a family full of "foodies" so this was an absolute MUST! My fiance pointed out that everyone still raves about the food from my sister's weddding 10 years ago & we should strive for the same! FUN - a resort that had activities for guests to do should they not want to book excursions etc... When hashing out the "MUSTs we differ on such as videography, she suggested that I remember to be flexible as well as realistic - which I recently had to apply after getting a pretty pricey videography quote (more on that later). After spending COUNTLESS exhausting hours combing Google and Tripadvisor for reviews of various resorts, I created a spreadsheet (yes a spreadsheet ) to compare the "Top 5" I felt matched the above "Musts." I found myself getting utterly confused and feeling greatly overwhelmed before creating the spreadsheet. Also, an "A-type" by nature, I was afraid I had somehow overlooked a property to consider. So I naturally bugged my fiance with non-stop "hey, what do you think about this place?" questions. Tired of having his sports watching interrupted, he suggested we consider consulting a Travel Agent/Advisor. I tend to be of the "I got THIS" mindset and figured I could calm my fears/concerns with a post on sites like this. I'm proud to admit I was wrong! If you are in the early stages of planning and are unsure where to start, I cannot recommend enlisting the help of a Travel Agent/Advisor (TA) enough! Leave it to the Pros: After checking with DW friends and reading various reviews, I selected 3 pros to conduct a phone interview with. The Knot's DW guide suggested interviewing TAs to assess knowledge, expertise, and fit (among other things). Instead of calling, I emailed each professional as an initial assessment. The TA we selected was the most responsive and addressed every question/point of interest/concern I listed in my inquiry. Upon speaking with her, she confirmed our 1st impression and lived up to the reviews we'd seen on-line. She also provided unsolicited candid feedback re the best time of year for our budget etc... I shared my spreadsheet with her and she did not hesitate to provided candid insight on the properties listed, as well as provide others that we should consider based on what we are looking for. Finding the right TA will really take what I felt was the biggest "weight" off of you - especially if you can't do a scouting trip! The TA will also take care of your guests travel arrangements, help negotiate best rates etc... Some also can advise you on the location contract - helping to avoid room minimum penalties etc... To Scout or Not To Scout: We are opting to scout because a) I'm "A-type" (remember?) and b)the front-runner resort offers a deeply discounted weekend where you can taste the food, see the location etc... Initially, DF (dear fiance) was adamant about NOT doing a scouting trip. After pointing out his practice of not making big purchases/investments without doing thorough research and "seeing-it", he relented. I further pointed out that due to the size, our wedding is a "big ticket" item so why should this be treated differently?! Thanks to our TA, we have 3 locations of interest that we'll be visiting at the end of the month. In the meantime, I've set my sights on my remaining "Musts": Photographer & videographer, which I hope to narrow down to 2-3 before our trip so we can meet them. After getting a quote ( )from my "dream" videographer here in the states, I had to revisit the "Musts" and rank them in order of true priority & practicality. While a video is something I really want, it is something that will realistically be watched once in a blue after the wedding. With that said, I've moved this to a very strong "Nice to Have." I think this post has gone on long enough so I will end here....until next time.... xoxo - me p.s. please excuse my niece's toes. she wanted to help take a pic of my ring.- 11 comments

So I'm wondering if featured vendors are able to delete bad reviews from this website, best destination wedding?! A vendor (not name dropping) I intend to book for services, for a LARGE amount of money had nothing but great reviews on here.. Then under new post section here, a recent terrible review of them came up. So before I did the anything irrational, I copied the link and emailed the vendor, asking them what was up in a kind but direct nature, We talked it over he assured me that the same thing would not happen to me etc. But I log on this forum hours later and now the review is gone, its been deleted. This I confirmed. So whats up with that? Can vendors pay to use this site for advertising and then have control to delete negative reviews? That's crazy! ... If true. I know some places websites like Angies List under certain agreements let companies delete negative reviews from their profile..

By Yazmin De La Mora Dear Brides, We have been living in the area for more than 13 years already and 7 years working for different hotels as a Groups & Conventions Manager or as a Weddings Sales Manager. There are some Professional Wedding Planners in the area that offer the site inspections service. Since they live and know all the possible Hotels, Beach Clubs, Villas and Private Locations to hold a wedding in the area, they will help you to find the right location for you, depending on your taste, style, budget, month of the wedding and number of guests attending. A planned site inspection made from a Professional will save you time, money, stress and car issues than if you do it by yourself. We can assure than in a most of cases and based on your needs, in one single day, in no more than 6 hours we can find the ideal location for your wedding. Based on our experience, here are our suggestions before doing a Site Inspection in Mexico: 1. Before visiting Mexico, do your timeline. Prepare, plan and schedule all the Hotels or Locations you are interested to see. If you hire a Professional Wedding Planner, they will do it for you. 2. Define the locations you are interested to visit. Decide if they are Private Locations, Hotels, Beach Clubs or all of them. 3. Do a reservation. For most of Hotels you need to do a reservation. For most of Beach clubs it is not necessary to do a reservation. For all Private Locations you need to do a reservation. Why? If you do a reservation you can get a proper service from them and they have the time to be with you at least two hours and will have to answer all of your questions., offering you all the complete information such availability, room rates for the month you are requesting and the specific locations that are good enough for your wedding party, based on the number of people attending. If you do not do a reservation, you have a risk of not being able to visit the resort or to do a site inspection with a bell boy or someone that is not in the wedding business, so you will not get the proper answers and once you get back home it might take several days or even weeks to get that info. 4. Rent a car. Our suggestion will be to rent a car at the airport, 5. Get the right Map Visiting Hotels is always more easy to find since most of them are along the main highway and private locations are often in neighborhoods that are more difficult to find. The car rental company will offer a map. Make sure that you get the right map, there are 2 maps one for Cancun and another for the Mayan Riviera. 6. How it works Hotels a. Request in each different hotel, with the reservations or wedding department a special room rate for a site inspection, and a late check out. b. By staying at their hotel you will get all their attentions, possible up grades, site inspection and possible menu tasting. Beach Clubs a. With a reservation you can even arrange to have a menu tasting. Villas or Private Locations a. Print the map from the location and ask the property for specific directions, b. Plan your timeline and schedules with enough time in case you get lost, have car issues, so you can get on time in each location. Note: Do not forget to wear comfortable clothes, shoes and a cap, bring enough water, snacks, sun block, bug repellant and your camera! Here is a video from a site inspection that might help you. Happy planning!

We here at BDW love a good beach wedding, and it’s certainly what most people think of when they picture a destination wedding, but there’s something to be said about a gorgeous winter setting. Right now is the perfect time of year for a winter wedding getaway and we thought we’d share our picks for the top 5 winter wedding destinations. If your dream wedding involves more snow than sand, follow along for some ideas on where to go! Plus, enter our Pin-it-to-Win-it Winter Weddings Pinterest giveaway!! 1. Jukkasjarvi, Sweden (Ice Hotel) Feeling adventurous? Why not take your winter wedding vision to the extreme by visiting the Ice Hotel in Sweden? The Ice Hotel opened in 1990 and is the world’s first ice hotel, though many others have popped up since in places like Alaska and Canada. The Ice Church is only available from December 23rd through the end of April and can accommodate 35-45 people. After the wedding, you and your guests can stay in one of the many rooms made entirely of ice. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the Northern Lights. Ice Hotel is said to be one of the best places in the world to see this natural phenomenon! What you need to know: Best time of year to go: between December and April Guest capacity: max 45 people Average cost of wedding: Official website didn’t say—contact the Wedding Coordinator for inquiries. Bonus: Same sex weddings have been legal here since 2009! 2. Lake Tahoe, California or Nevada This location is a common vacation spot for many West Coast snow/ski fans and would be a beautiful spot for a wedding. Though there are a ton of perfectly lovely settings in Tahoe for a winter wonderland wedding, we can’t really think of anything more quaint and picturesque than a sleigh ride wedding. We stumbled across this amazing lakefront wedding venue, where weddings take place on a snow covered spot with lake views. Bride, groom and wedding party are taken to the location via a romantic sleigh ride! What you need to know: Best time of year to go: Weddings can be performed at the sleigh ride lakefront venue in winter only, when there is enough snow for a sleigh. Other venues offer more flexibility but in general if you want those great snowy pictures, the best time to travel is from December to February. Guest capacity: Sleigh ride wedding has a max of 20 people, check with other venues for their restrictions. Average cost of wedding: The sleigh ride wedding package is only $1000, but doesn’t include a reception or anything other than the actual ceremony. 3. Alaskan Cruise Cruise weddings have gained popularity in recent years, and with good reason. Take all the fun of an all-inclusive resort, add water and what is essentially a floating city and throw in stops at a few ports for the ultimate vacation or wedding experience. Alaskan cruises are especially stunning and typically offer views of marine life, waterfalls, glaciers, national parks and more. What you need to know: Best time of year to go: OK so Alaskan cruises aren’t offered during the traditional winter season, but due to the colder climate and glacial setting, we’re still including this as a winter wedding option since it fits the vision. The Alaskan cruise season is from mid-May to mid-September. Guest capacity: Most cruises hold thousands of guests. Since the chances are good your collection of friends and family isn’t quite that large, it’s safe to say the sky is the limit when it comes to a cruise wedding guest list! Average cost of wedding: We saw several wedding package options in the $1195-$3995 range, and for a bit more money Princess Cruise Lines offers a Glacier wedding for $4700. We saw 7-day cruise packages for as low as $595/person, and remember that there are frequently great cruise deals and incentives for even more savings! Bonus: Many Alaskan cruises stop in Sitka, which any rom com movie buffs will remember as the setting for the Sandra Bullock/Ryan Reynolds movie 4. Niagara Falls, NY Image courtesy of accessniagara.com Typically thought of as a honeymoon spot (it’s been known as the honeymoon capital of the world), Niagara Falls is also a fantastic location for a picturesque wedding. Weddings here can take place in a variety of locations—adjacent to the falls themselves, lakeside or riverside. Niagara USA has specific venue ideas for each of these locations, as well as information on vendors to complete your winter wedding day vision. What you need to know: Best time of year to go: Niagara Falls is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year, but for that ideal winter wedding look, consider traveling December through February when snowfall is most likely. Guest capacity: Varies by venue location. Average cost of wedding: Varies by venue location. Fun fact: Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the U.S. (established in 1885) and it was designed by architect Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed NYC’s Central Park. Fun fact #2: On the TV series 'The Office,' Pam and Jim were married by the captain of the Maid of the Mist IV ferry in Niagara Falls. That's them in the above picture! 5. Park City, Utah Park City, Utah is a favorite destination among Hollywood’s elite, thanks in part to the annual Sundance Film Festival that takes place there and also due to the fact that there is no shortage of luxury hotels. The Montage, St. Regis and Waldorf Astoria are just a handful of the 5-star hotels that have a branch in Park City, and while they all offer wedding packages, one of our favorite options we found is Park City Mountain Resorts. They feature a selection of settings for both ceremony and reception; including a meadow, terrace or lodge. What you need to know: Best time of year to go: The ski/snow season is from November to April, but snowfall is heaviest December through January. Guest capacity: Varies by venue location, contact wedding coordinator for info. Average cost of wedding: Varies by venue location, contact wedding coordinator for info. Tip: The Sundance Film Festival http://www.sundance.org/festival/ takes place in Park City at the end of January each year, so you may want to avoid those weeks and miss the crowds. Bonus: The wedding party and all guests are taken to the top of a mountain via a chairlift, and then get to the reception site by taking the Alpine Slide to the mountain base. How fun does this look?! We know there are a lot of great options for winter weddings, but since we were only highlighting 5 we tried to pick a variety of locations and types of weddings. Leave a comment below if we left off one of your favorites! Need more “pinspiration?” head over to BDW's winter wedding Pinterest board for more pics and ideas! If you’re tying the knot, or helping a loved one plan a wedding, hosting the nuptials in your own back yard is a great option. Garden weddings have a lot of things going for them: privacy, flexibility (you have full choice of dates and no time restrictions), and they’re inherently beautiful thanks to the natural setting. Getting married at home also saves a lot on a venue rental. And just as there are many types of gardens, there are many types of garden weddings. Dress up your garden, dress it down, or simply leave it as is for a picturesque natural backdrop. After all, they are naturally romantic, with lush surroundings and fresh plants and flowers bursting with life. Large or small, formal or informal, you can set up your garden to host any kind of wedding. Just don’t forget to take the following things into consideration. Tidy things up Just like great makeup begins with a good foundation, you’ll need to prep your garden well in advance. Take a look at the lawns; do you need to fix up any bare patches? Prune back overgrown trees, shrubs, or other areas? Rake up fallen leaves and loose clippings? Plant extra flowers? Take note of any damp, swampy areas and consider whether you should provide guests with an advisory note about suitable footwear. If your patio or driveway is due for some maintenance, now’s the time to get it done, so grab those garden tools and get going (or set some of the younger members of the family onto the task). Remember to also consider accessibility for any elderly or disabled guests. Decide on the theme Having a central theme allows you to create a consistent look. A garden wedding should make the most of nature, using complementary color schemes and making the most of the surroundings. Decorations Try using fresh cut seasonal flowers for centrepieces – you won’t need to look any further than your own flower beds. Daisies, dahlias, peonies, roses and hydrangeas are all commonly grown in household gardens and are also popular wedding blooms. You can also place bunches of fresh flowers all around your garden on the day to add color and enhance the special, festive atmosphere. Don’t go overboard, though – your garden’s natural beauty should be allowed to shine through. And why not use fresh herbs from your garden in the meals and drinks on the day? Mint can be used to infuse cocktails, for example. Have a back up plan Outdoors events always require a weather plan. What if it rains? A Plan B could include a marquee or tent for shelter. It also pays to provide some light blankets or other warm wraps for people to cover up in case it gets too chilly, particularly towards the end of the night. Food If you’re self catering, consider whether the in-house kitchen is large enough to provide for the number of guests. If you’re hiring a caterer, discuss how much space they will need for preparation. Choose your menu carefully, as you want to avoid items melting or drooping in the heat. And plan to keep your guests well hydrated – beverages should be available from the start and throughout the event. Music Will you be having a live band at the wedding? You’ll need dry and solid ground for the musicians to play on. If you don’t have a patio, look into erecting some kind of temporary platform for the band to set up their equipment on safely. Logistics Don’t overcrowd the space – invite only as many people as your garden can comfortably hold. Don’t forget to account for catering staff, photographer, musicians and any other vendors. Plan to provide easy indoor-outdoor flow with access to all garden areas so guests can mix and mingle easily. Make sure there will be enough seating, including some in the shade (you may also want to provide sunblock and insect repellent for guests’ use). Lighting is vital if your garden wedding will extend into the evening. Outdoor weddings lend themselves to tasteful, understated elegance. Candles and paper lanterns, or strings of colored lights are a great way of illuminating your garden. Determine if you’ll need any extension cords, how many outlets you’ll need, or consider installing solar lighting around the garden. As for power, it may pay to obtain a backup generator in case you need an emergency electricity supply. Parking is another matter to consider. You might want to inform your neighbors ahead of time if people will be parking in the street. Finally, you’ll need to provide bathroom facilities. If you’re making your indoor washrooms available, ensure they are well stocked with toilet paper and soap. Alternatively, you can rent portable toilets.

Wedding site planning refers to the organizational stage of the wedding process. It involves the organization of all vendors who might be or will be involved in the wedding day. This is done by arranging the compositional elements for the event such location, catering, design, decor, flowers, musicians and all vendors in a comfortable place where the couple will listen, analyze and define their best options according to their tastes and needs. We are happy to show you a slideshow of our last wedding site planning in our offices. Happy planning to all of you!

Hi all! We need some advice and the cumulative wisdom on this forum seems to be enormous, so I'm hoping you can help. We've had a couple of independant wedding coordinators tell us that we should wait for them to get us numbers from various RIviera Maya venues (after we sign a contract with the WC, of course) and not ask for pricing from the venues directly. I guess the theory is that if the wedding venue gives us one price directly - the MSRP so to speak - then it's harder for the WC to get better pricing for us... or something. I'm having a hard time understanding that. I can't see how a venue would be less likely to give a better price to a WC just because they already quoted a higher price directly to the client before the WC was contracted. That's what negotiating is all about. On the other hand, if we, as the client, know what the venue would charge us directly, it would be harder for the WC to put a percentage for themselves on top of that price. In other words, us not getting a price from the venue ourselves gives the WC more power to charge us whatever they think they can get away with. Knowledge is power and all. My question: is there any realistic scenario in which it benefits us, as the client, to NOT ask for pricing from the venues we're interested in before we finalize a contract with a WC? Thanks, all!

Does anyone have a Guest List .xls spreadsheet or temaplate specific to a Destination Wedding? Please email me a copy to angela.jackson@@Urs.com if willing to share. The majority of templates and google doc's I have found are geared towards a traditional wedding with no tracking of deposits, flights, rooms, etc... I can build a new one or make edits to exsisting one if need be. Much Appreciated....

Which one do you think will be a great choice? Cruise ship wedding or some banquet halls? My daughter's marriage has been fixed next year. Hope everything would go well We are currently going through the wedding-planning process! And venue is the first thing we are looking for. What do you think about a romantic cruise ship? My hubby suggests to hold the wedding in a cruise ship and reception in some beautiful wedding banquet hall in Toronto. I too think it's a great idea. What's your opinion? Will it be okay to hold the ceremony and reception in two different locations?

Congrats brides! I just replied to a thread with the below but I also wanted to post this as a new thread in case it can help someone else. I know picking the location to have our dream destination wedding was incredibly hard because we also had a budget. We went all out with a 5* resort that our guests are still talking about. Everything was perfect. We did the actual wedding offsite at a restaurant next door - WAY more personal than the converter belt of resort brides 3 times a day with tourists gawking at them. We gave our guests the cutest beach bags filled with goodies and we had photo/video for the whole thing. Best part was that our guests loved the location so much that many chose it for their next vacation...that is the best compliment. Between my husband and I we have traveled to all the usual spots of Mexico (all over), Cuba (all over), Florida (all over), Bahamas (Gran Bahama, Nassau), Barbados, Bermuda, and Dominican and this is seriously the best place where the people treat you well, the food is incredible and plentiful, the entertainment is great, the beaches are gorgeous and the price is right.... Details: Location: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Resort: Luxury Gran Bahia Principe Esmeralda (superior service with butler included) Ceremony/Reception Venue: Kukua Restaurant Photographer/video: Blue Lagoon Studio Honeymoon: Secrets Royal Beach (30 minutes away) Guests giftbags: magicfeather.ca - they are presented to your guests at the airport upon arrival! We were there total 12 days with the wedding week and 5 day honeymoon and it cost us $12000 for everything. Hope this helps you! GOOD LUCK and enjoy the planning!!!
