Your wedding invitation often sets the theme of your destination wedding celebration, so it's no wonder why so many couples spend extensive time and money picking and choosing their official wedding invites. Here are a few destination wedding invitation ideas/themes to help get you started: -- The Passport Invitation: If you're inviting your guests to an international location, then get the travel vibe started with a unique passport invitation. A passport cover in the colors of your wedding with lots of wedding information on the pages inside are sure to get your guests excited about the adventure that awaits! -- The Boarding Pass Invitation: Sharing your nuptials abroad but still want to keep it simple? How about a boarding pass invite? If you're crafty enough and have the time, it's definitely got some DIY possibilities (just do a search in the forum and you're bound to come up with templates from past BDW brides!). The boarding pass can be simple or intricate -- either way it will get you and your guests pumped up for your destination celebration. -- The Postcard Invitation: It's a simple but sweet way to get your invites out. Think of a postcard -- one side is a gorgeous photo and the other side has your text. Get your info out to guests in an easy way that doesn't involve much hassle or thought. It's also a very cost-friendly option that screams, "let's go on an adventure!" -- The Beach-Themed Invitation: If you're planning to tie the knot with sand in between your toes and the waves crashing in the background, then start the beach escape with a beach-themed invite to your guests. Think seashells in a box or perhaps a bottle filled with sand -- hey, who doesn't love a beach party?! -- The Nature-Inspired Invitation: Think graphics of birds, fish, butterflies, flowers or greenery. Anything that conveys nature and all its beauty! -- The Glam & Glitz Invitation: If you're having more of a chic or fancy celebration, perhaps glitz and glam is the way to go. With metallics all the rage this wedding season, you can't go wrong with gold, silver, copper or rust touches. Or perhaps you want to go completely blinged out with jewels or pearls. These invitations are sure to impress and let your guests know they're in for a glamourous affair. -- The Eco-Friendly Simple Invitation: Think linen or ecru with shades of neutral accents. Are you whisking your guests away to an eco-friendly location and decorating your celebration with lots of light colored hues? If so, this may be the way to go. - - - About me: I am a former BDW Bride AKA as MarieSam and was addicted to this forum as I planned my own wedding in 2009. I'm leaving for my wedding at Secrets Wild Orchid in MoBay in 2 days and have finally finished my bouquet, my FH's boutonniere and my grandmothers corsage. I would have loved to have real flowers but I wanted peonies in different shades of coral for my bouquet and as many of you know the prices are crazy expensive (quotes I received were in the $600 range just for my bouquet!) to me that is just too expensive for flowers I can't bring home through customs to have as a keepsake so I ended up making my own using a mx of real touch and silks. I did have some dusty miller in my bouquet to match the boutonniere and corsage but ended up taking it out at the last minute as the bouquet was starting to look too busy. I purchased the flowers from Michaels and various sellers on Etsy. If anyone is interested in specific flowers from my bouquet send me a message and I'll tell you where I bought them. All though my bouquet didn't turn out how I originally envisioned overall I'm pleased with the final result but worried that they might look fake in the pictures. Would love to get some feedback from you ladies. Do they look too fake? Is there anything you would do differently?

According to wedding resource expert, The Knot, this year's wedding trends are all about personalization. "Weddings are more personalized than ever, with couples putting their own unique touches on classic traditions," says Kellie Gould, editor in chief of The Knot. "Couples are taking entertainment up a notch by hiring contemporary choirs that will sing an a cappella version of their first dance song, and upgrading the signature cocktail to satellite bars featuring specialty drinks with engraved glassware and elaborate garnishes. Guys are even upping their grooming game and stepping into the spotlight more with custom suits and accessories." Here's a list of The Knot's 2016 wedding trends: 1. Two-in-One Dresses & Fashion-Forward Florals: brides are opting for convertible dresses that combine a formal ceremony gown and a fun reception frock in one. Flowers are being infused beyond the bouquet and centerpieces -- flower dress accents and flower crowns are among some favorites. 2. Wedding Concierge Pros: Wedding planning is getting easier because now there's either a pro or an app to hire/use to execute any element of the day. 3. Satellite Bars: personalize the party with your favorite libation, or even serve a tasting of preferred wines. Set up a bar that highlights your preferred drink, like champagne or a specialty gin. 4. Contemporary Choirs & Late-Night Karaoke: Surprise guests by hiring a marching band or gospel choir and have them perform a favorite rock ballad for the walk down the aisle or an a cappella version of the first dance song. And if you're hosting an after-party, karaoke is king. 5. Sweet Endings: The wedding cake is here to stay, but it's no longer the only dessert on the menu. Passed treats, especially of the frozen variety like shaved ice or fruit-infused ice pops with the couple's names on the stick, are trending along with installations like doughnut walls. 6. Wow-Worthy Websites: Couples are hiring design gurus to create a completely custom site with a unique URL, bespoke details and personalized illustrations. 7. Total Personalization: The new wedding tells a couple's story, meaning a complete customization of details. From serving the couple's favorite dish from a local restaurant or having an ordained family member officiate the ceremony, elements will reflect their favorite tastes and interests, making their wedding day uniquely their own. Couples are even choosing original themes that represent the two of them. 8. 3-D Printing: Paper will always have a place in weddings, but couples are creating memorable 3-D save-the-dates that set the vibe for a modern celebration, and even making a 3-D printed cake topper that looks just like the bride and groom. 9. Food-Inspired Floral Elements: Artichokes and Kale vs. Roses: Bouquets and centerpieces are getting a style boost thanks to untraditional floral elements, like fruit and vegetables. 10. Stylish Grooms: Guys are now looking for a second look, opting for a unique reception look too. Custom suits with embroidered monograms, velvet loafers and personalized cuff links give guys more style options than ever before in 2016. 11. Locally Sourced Food: The new wedding menu will mimic the offerings at your local farm-to-table restaurant. Forget standard chicken or beef and say hello to "free-range Happy Days Farm hen." Good food, both in taste and provenance, is playing a greater role in dinner fare. 12. Metallic Palettes: It's all about shimmer and shine this year. Don't be afraid to mix silver and rose gold or gunmetal and gold—metallics play well together. The addition of luster elevates any look, giving a couple's wedding style an extra-special feel.

Wedding details -- you either love em or hate em. In my case, they consumed tons of my wedding planning because I wanted every detail big or small to perfectly mesh together. And I wanted my details to be unique. When it came to a lot of our floral details, we opted for artificial ones because it was more economically feasible for us and well, I wanted to make sure our flowers were exactly how I envisioned them. One of my favorite finds was our groomsmen boutineers! We had these specially made through an Etsy creative and till this day, I still love them! Handcrafted boutineers via Etsy is a great way to add style and a touch of uniqueness to your wedding party without breaking the bank. Click here to view some incredibly cute wedding boutineer options in various styles, sizes and colors to fit your taste! * Wedding Finds is a BDW feature that will highlight special little finds or ideas that may help you along during your wedding planning journey. Hello Ladies! My fiance and I have our wedding planned for April 2016 at the Grand Sunset Princess in the Mayan Riviera. We have the beach wedding organized along with the "Chill Out Party" for a more private post celebration. The package they sent me includes some floral arrangements for me to choose from but I am so unsure of what to expect on the day of the wedding! I want a white bouquet that looks classy. I would love all the advice that I can get! Thank you!!

As a wedding photographer, I absolutely love documenting all the day's special little details -- things that the bride and groom have carefully included as part of their entire wedding experience. One of my favorite parts of the day happens early on, when I get photograph all the bride's beautiful details, namely The Dress -- yes, The Wedding Dress. One of the things I always remind my brides as they prep for the Big Day is to make sure they have a pretty hanger to use for us to hang their dress on, something that compliments their dress. I especially love the personalized wire hangers that have become popular bridal gifts in recent years. These not only add some extra flair to Wedding dress photos, they are the perfect memento for the bride! Click here to view a variety of Wedding Dress hangers offered by Etsy creatives. There are tons of choices perfect for every name, style and budget! * Wedding Finds is a BDW feature that will highlight special little finds or ideas that may help you along during your wedding planning journey. Hi, Just came across a new site www.myweddingstory.co and I'm wondering if anyone has used it yet. I'm looking for a place to share my videos, pics, audio, etc. from my wedding. I've already created a "How We Met" storyline with cute quiz questions, etc. Now I'm trying to decide if it's worth the money to use it for my other ideas. Thoughts? Thanks!

Flowers are such a delicate and beautiful touch to any celebration. For some brides, floral decor eats up a huge chunk of their Wedding Day budget, but for others flowers are a small piece to the overall decor design. A wedding bouquet is a wonderful compliment to your wedding look and celebration, but it's important to remember that your bouquet doesn't necessarily need to break the bank to be beautiful. If sky's the limit when it comes to your flowers, then go for it! But if you've set aside a tight budget for flowers, just know you do have options and simplicity is the key. Hi everyone!! Need some help. Ordered chair sashes thinking they were the right color but they were not!! So now I need help finding the right color. The color of my bridesmaids / wedding color is a little different and hard to find matching colors for. It's called sea glass.. And it's not turquoise, not Aqua, not mint green... It's in between a bluish green color but I think it's more blue... I will attach the color what it's like. If anyone has any suggestions of where to find chair sashes that might be a close match I would appreciate it!!! All the colors I see are pretty much those turquoise, aqua colors which are too bright. I really would like to find a close match but it doesn't have to be exact!the candle/ swatch is the color of the BM dress and the 2nd picture is a color I like but can't find!! Thanks!!!

"Make sure your flowers are nice MarieSam," my dear mom would constantly say to me as I was planning my destination wedding. Because my mom is pretty much the mother of all greenthumbs, I knew telling her I had planned to use a real-touch bouquet would send her into a tailspin. But despite my mom's disapproval at the thought of me using an artificial bouquet, I did it anyways because it was affordable and would be a beautiful keepsake that would last beyond the Wedding Day. So yes, I rocked my bouquet down the aisle and on my Wedding Day my mom even mentioned how pretty my flowers were and how realistic they looked. *Note to self: mother doesn't always know best A wedding bouquet is a beautiful compliment to your wedding look and celebration, but if there's anything I've learned from being a bride, it's that your bouquet doesn't need to break the bank. If you've got money to burn, then by all means, go all out and create a bouquet that would send my mom to the moon But if you're on a tight budget, just remember that simplicity can be a beautiful thing too! Here are a few bouquet photos (taken by yours truly) to give you a little inspiration (this is just Part 1, stay tuned for Part 2) ... - - - About me: I am a former BDW Bride AKA as MarieSam and was addicted to this forum as I planned my own wedding in 2009. Words are powerful and for every relationship there is a great quote particularly fitting for that couple. Here are a few beautiful quotes about love to help inspire your Wedding celebration and perhaps even your Wedding vows. "In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world, there is no love for you like mine." -- Maya Angelou "Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same." -- Emily Brontë "I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out." -- Roy Croft "Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable." -- Bruce Lee "You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." -- Dr. Seuss "Your love comforts me like sunshine after the rain." -- William Shakespeare "So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me ... every day." -- Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook "If I had a flower for every time I thought of you ... I could walk through my garden forever." -- Alfred Tennyson - - - About me: I am a former BDW Bride AKA as MarieSam and was addicted to this forum as I planned my own wedding in 2009. I think one of the most fun aspects of planning your wedding is adding little personalized touches that make your celebration special and unique. For crafty brides this means going the do-it-yourself route also fondly known as being a DIY bride. Unfortunately, not everyone has got Martha Stewart skills running through their veins, but Etsy -- the mothership of all things DIY -- pretty much solves that problem Signage is a unique way to customize your wedding in simple yet fun way. Be it signs at the ceremony, or a fun sign at the reception -- handpainted or printed signs can add a colorful and festive touch to any celebration. And whether you chose to do it yourself or attain the services of a creative person on Etsy -- it can be a easy and affordable way to give your Wedding Day a little personal flair, and it's usually always epic photo material! 7 Websites to Help You Plan the Wedding of Your Dreams
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Planning
My reliance on the internet when it comes to handling every day life is astounding, but while planning my destination wedding it was even more apparent just how much I needed the internet to help guide me through the wedding planning process. Although every bride's journey and experience is different, I thought I should share a few of my favorite sites when it comes to planning The Wedding Day! -- Best Destination Wedding Forum: Well obviously this is number one. I don't really remember how I came upon this jewel of a site, but what I do know is that once I became a member, I was hooked. I logged into the BDW forum daily -- actually several times a day -- and collectively with all the great tips from other fellow brides, grooms and and vendors, I was able to craft what I consider my dream wedding. Fortunately, since then, BDW has grown and expanded to offer brides other insightful sections, such as: Wedding Tips, Resort Reviews and Vendor Reviews. I cannot stress enough how lucky you are to have found this site as you begin your journey as a destination wedding bride! -- Loverly: Inspiration and tips galore. I love this website because it offers so much, including wedding planning tools, free wedding websites and plenty of advice and tips. -- Style Me Pretty: What can I say? This website is just full of beautiful pictures that will leave you daydreaming about your I Do's. Chockful of visual inspiration, once you log on, you'll likely find yourself scrolling non-stop because everything is just so ... pretty -- Ruffled: It's pretty much the mother of all wedding blogs filled with real-life wedding inspiration and lots of stylish/trendy ideas. You can peruse through the DIY Projects section for tons of inspiration or even post a few weddings items for sale. This site has everything when it comes to weddings! -- Wedding Wire: It's a great resource for planning everything for your Wedding Day, but it's most known for it's massive venue/vendor guide.
