  1. Hi Ladies, Are there any resorts in Jamaica that offer great group amenities for large groups? The only reason we chose Palace resorts was for the group perks (unlimited private events, free nights etc). Are there any family friendly resorts with great group perks. I love Riu but I was told they charge you for chair rentals, private events, and per person for a dinner.
  2. Have you heard the news? In 2015 Palace Resorts will be opening their first resort in Jamaica... Moon Palace. I am half tempted to wait on my room block to see what this resort is like. We are planning to honeymoon in the West Indies so this would be perfect. Any thoughts?
  3. Hello Ladies, I have been searching high and low to find a list of Playacar Palace preferred vendors and their costs. I believe the other Palace resorts have the same lists. However, I am having trouble finding the price lists and I am not getting the pricing from the resort. I will be visiting Playa in a few weeks and I would like to have everything with me when I go and also have a list of outside vendors so that I can meet with whoever we may need. We are planning a 6pm beach ceremony and will have about 70 guests. I am trying to find out if there are additional costs for each guest over 30. I have seen mixed reviews about PSAV and JSAV as preferred vendors and have not heard from the resort. I would like to know who is preferred and if they have a price list. Who is the photographer?? What are the packages? Zuniga or any approved decorators price list Price for beach set up with food? What is the latest we can use the ballroom? Also if there are any questions that I should ask for my site visit please let me know so I can include them in my binder. I was thinking of having a ballroom reception. I was also thinking of a welcome party at the beach deck or the pool area. Any tips I should be aware of? Thank you
  4. I have my eyes on a few dresses, but my wedding date is 2 years out. I feel strange to start trying on dresses and asking people to come with me. I was thinking I'll start dress shopping in June since it's a year out. But, I would love to see what fits me before I drag my family hours away from their homes to look at dresses with me. I thought of going alone to see what I like. Then bring them with me to make my final decision.
  5. I chose Palace. Hard rock and Karisma were runner ups. I chose Mexico because of Palace, I wasn't able to find anyone to beat what Palace offers in any other country. I love Riu resorts, but for a wedding it can become tooo expensive. I noticed a lot of resorts start charging like $50 per person for dinner, chair rentals, drinks, etc.
  6. my budget is $1500 and i dont really want to spend that much either
  7. Maybe try Express, HM, JCPENNEY. I was thinking of having my ties made
  8. Lulus.com (a favorite) and asos.com have some really good options in navy, it's one of my favorite stores. You can also try light in a box, black friday dresses, and sammys dress (just be sure to check with the shipping times). Lulu's and asos takes about 3 days. Oh and Modcloth.com has some cute stuff as well
  9. I'm sorry, I didn't read your whole post. But, I will say... DO NOT care what other people say or think. Those that will be there, will be there. My fiance and I LOVE Playa del Carmen, my first time going I was nervous. We first went in December, are going back in September, and when we have our wedding it will be our third trip. I felt safer in Playa del Carmen than I do in Philadelphia. The people are amazing and the experience is AMAZING. I recommend you take a trip to the area first, if you can and maybe find a groupon deal for a cheap trip. My fiance have gone back and forth about our decision, but we say this... When we were in Mexico in December all we could think of was how awesome it would be to share this experience with family and friends and what better way than a destination wedding. We said that this is what we would ultimately want and I cant picture myself walking down any other aisle than that on a beach. Also, no one is shelling out money to pay for our wedding so why should we go broke for something that we dont ultimately want. It is YOUR DAY. My one friend wanted a DW and settled for Ocean City, MD and she told me she deeply regrets listening to her family. At the end of the day, do what you guys want. Don't start your marriage bowing down to the wishes of others. I suggest you say something like "This is what we decided would make us the happiest to celebrate our marriage, we welcome all who can attend to enjoy a vacation with us and those that cant, we understand that everyone wont be able to attend but this is our wish and as my__________ I would hope that you would like to see me happy and wish me the best on my wedding day"
  10. We are getting married on a Friday and are arriving on a Tuesday. Our date is 6/17/16 I wanted to do the day before but my fiance said it's too many sixes. Plus, if people are like me they'll like the 6/16/16 pattern and Thursday will be booked
  11. I dont know what your budget is, but I booked my wedding at Playacar Palace. Palace resorts came highly recommended and the group perks are AMAZING. I have stayed at mostly Riu resorts and while I do love Riu, I wanted my wedding to be different than where my friends and I typically vacation. Palace is not cheap, it is about average, but, all the stuff you get for your wedding plus the group incentives are, must I say again AMAZING. I got engaged the end of May as well and our date is June 2016. We are leaving from NY and are estimating the trip to cost about 12-1300 a person for 4 nights. With Palace resorts you are able to get up to 7 free nights, room upgrades, unlimited private functions. I have looked at other resorts and other countries, but no one was able to top Palace. I was finding that other resorts still charged a per person rate for a reception dinner, chair and table rental fee, private event fee, drink fee, and the costs were seeming to be close to having a wedding at home. Good Luck I am still shopping around for travel agents. Can you PM me with who you are using. I am from NY as well I completely agree. I love Riu, it's affordable and beautiful, but many of my friends always vacation there so it's not special. Plus the actual wedding costs are quite high for what they offer. Now Jade is beautiful, I considered them and the travel quotes I received are AWESOME. BUT!!! the prices to have my actual wedding were ridiculously expensive... come on, $3-5 a person for cake, $50 a person for a dinner... At an all inclusive, talk about highway robbery. I have also seen brides host their wedding at off site locations other than their resort. I am not sure how this works and am completely satisfied with the resort I chose to not consider other options. But, in December we went to a club on the beach called Coco Maya, on their website they have pictures of a wedding set up and it is quite nice. I am sure you can find a ton of information on this website. I feel a little crazy planning so far in advance, but at least these things will be taken care of and I will have more time.
  12. I am also considering blush. I just love it. I do like ivory as well, but I think the blush is soo pretty and different. If my dress was ivory, I would have my bms in either blush, mint, grey, or a tan/ivory. However, if I go with a blush dress, my bms will be in grey, tan/ivory. But, I think I like grey. I want my bms to be able to wear their dresses again and I don't want there to be too much pink. I am going for a rustic look, so I think a blush with an ivory lace would be perfect. Theres a maggie sottero that I love. I am also planning to have the free ivory bouquet from the resort so I do not want ivory flowers with an ivory dress. My bridesmaid bouquets will be baby's breath with probably blush and mint ribbons tied on. Only thing, if there dresses are grey gm will have to wear grey suits. I am going to persuade my fiance that the gm should wear grey converses or toms. I can also get some fabric and have matching ties and sashes made for the bms and gm.
  13. How far in advance did you do your room block? I'm worried that the resort will sell out
  14. Moon palace sounds great, but in my opinion it's good of you're looking to stay on the resort
  15. Yes it is a smaller resort. But, Playacar Palace is in a gated community called Playacar and it has plenty of shops and is very safe to walk around or bike around at night. Playacar is in playa del carmen and is less than 5 minutes from 5th Avenue and local bars and clubs. It depends on your guests and you. We are in our late 20s so Playacar Palace will give us the relaxation with plenty of access to activities. My fiance and i are also planning for a day trip to moon palace.
  16. Thanks for your review. Mara is my coordinator too. I Haven't had contact with her yet
  17. Playacar Palace, in Mexico. June 17, 2016
  18. We now have 7 of each. Which is perfect and I hope it stays that way. Call me cheesy but when we get married we'd have been together for 7 years... lucky sevens
  19. Michael's! I plan on buying the regular plastic cups without the straw. Just waiting on a really good coupon.
  20. Hello Ladies, I am a Playacar Palace bride planning for 2016. While trying to find information, I noticed it was really hard finding up to date information on Playacar Palace. Many of the Palace Resorts wedding posts are for Moon Palace and Beach Palace. While, they are great resorts and share similar information, I thought it would be great to have a thread specifically for the resort we chose for our big day. I have booked for June 2016 and plan on working with TA Teresa from Wright/Vacations4less. Happy Planning
  21. I will be staying at the reef in September. I can give you more info when I return in case you don't check regularly
  22. I am so sorry for the delay I didn't notice an alert. I have booked at Playacar Palace for June 17, 2016
