  1. @@november15 how many rooms did you block? I originally thought 5 hat say I block 10 rooms and need more, I would have to pay to block additional rooms. I asked my travel agent and she said that additional rooms can be added with no problem but won't be blocked. I may still ask to block off additional rooms if our rooms fill up. Is the resort sold out? Are the rooms you're requesting no longer available? It seems weird that they wouldn't let you add more. One travel agent I spoke to, said we would have to pay to add more rooms. I have heard that moon does sell out and seems to be popular for weddings. Did they give you an explanation on why they couldn't? What items are you waiting for pricing information? Could it possibly be that the deadline for final payments have passed?
  2. How much fir tge beach bags? Bush.chanel@@gmail.com
  3. I haven't heard of this get ready room, if it does have that much space I may have to invest in it, there will be a lot of us in the room. What is this getting ready room about @@llevasseur
  4. @@Elsmum we were able to get the date we wanted but the beach wasn't available originally for our date and time. I requested a 6pm ceremony on the beach and the latest they had available that day was 4 and the next day the latest they had available was 2. To me, I kind of feel that we need a beach ceremony since were doing a destination wedding, but I looked at peoples ceremony pictures and youtube videos on the beach and I was not really impressed with it, plus the horse and carriage rides were a bit awkward for beach setups. So, I opted with a gazebo, it gives us some shade with the ocean background, I can wear shoes, and have a dramatic entrance with the horse and carriage. I also considered the chapel, but the cost was $860 so we decided to pass on that. We are also planning for a ballroom reception (AC, privacy, and no time limit for the party). Cocktail and welcome party on one of the terraces. I contacted the resort directly and just relayed information to my travel agent. I plan to go for a site visit next week, the wedding coordinator sent me an email with extras and their prices. I am still going to consider outside vendors. I like to make sure were getting the best for our money.
  5. Thanks everyone, we actually switched about 2 weeks ago to Moon Palace. I really like the photo ops that Playacar provides, but overall Moon will be better for our guests and family. We love Playa del Carmen and we can have our famiy vacation at Playacar later.
  6. I would ask venues for the prices myself AND let the WC look for prices as well. That way you can compare prices and if you get better rated from the venues you'll know the WC is up charging you and have them price match, if they refuse tell them you don't trust their service and are no longer willing to do business with them. Play the game the way they do, but, stay one step ahead. Don't let anyone tell you you can't shop for prices yourself.
  7. Where is everyone having their ceremony? The beach just seems right for a destination wedding, but i chose a gazebo to have more of a dramatic entrance with the horse and carriage. Had anyone done a ballroom reception?
  8. @Tammyhost I really am not sure, some people are just a little weird about their cards I guess @@NJBride2014 that is a really good idea, getting the cash from them and using our cards. I'll do that, thank you.
  9. @@LauraM message me your email. I have something in my email I just have to find it
  10. @@Sabes44 I have been working with TA Teresa, she didnt mention anything to me about the 30 days, she just said we needed to do a room block. I also saw one TA who allowed us to "hold" rooms for 2 weeks and whatever guests paid within those 2 weeks were less rooms that we needed to block for. I'm not sure why we werent given any other option. My guests are also not comfortable doing credit card authorizations and wish to do online payments. I truly want to work with Teresa, I think she's awesome, but I have to put my guests first too
  11. So, I found a TA i really like, from BDW. But, the problem is many of my guests are not comfortable with doing a credit card authorization and would prefer to do online payments. Since, I am marrying at Moon Palace it is essential that everyone books through the same source and I get that online payments are easier. So im stuck, the TA ive been working with is AWESOME and she has given me great rates. One of my friends is using destinationweddings.com for their wedding and it allows online payments, but I dont like how you have to pay $50 before they start working with you and I have no clue what their rates will be. My TA from BDW said as long as we block our rooms and if other people want to join thats over our room block that they will have the same rates. Our friend using DW said we needed to pay our deposit by a certain time to get the group rate. Granted, the deposit was only $100 per room. I have seen mixed reviews on DW so im absolutely confused on what to do and I want to make this convenient for my guests. Has anyone had this problem with people not wanting to do card authorization forms? Thanks
  12. @@LauraM I don't mind paying the vendor fee if it's worth it. But, I would like to get some kind of idea on their prices before I start looking at outside vendors
  13. My fiance and I had our trip planned to Playa del Carmen prior to our engagement. We were originally planning to site visit Playacar Palace during our stay, but we recently changed our wedding location to Moon Palace. The resort actually scheduled our site visit at Moon Palace during the same time we were scheduled for at Playacar Palace. I really want to view the resort, but he of course, as a guy doesn't get it. And he doesn't want us to pay extra money to go to cancun to visit the resort. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can work? I know a cab is about $50 one way. I looked up renting a car for the day, which seems cheap until you start adding on the insurance. He said, he feels the resort should provide our transportion, I think that is unlikely. Can anyone help? Thoughts? Thanks
  14. Hello, Does anyone have the prices or a brochure, something for PSAV, JSAV, and Zuniga. We are trying to work on our budget but I cant find the prices anywhere and I have no clue what kind of services they really offer. I asked the rep from Palace and I am still waiting. It seems they answer every other question except that one. We are getting married at Moon Palace and are planning a Gazebo ceremony and a reception in a ballroom. \ Thank you
  15. I'm not sure what you have. But I am looking for chair sashes, table runners, table cloths, honestly whatever I can find. I'll make it work @mrsktobe
  16. I plan on having the regular dance party reception, but, for our welcome party, I want it to be a white party game night kind of thing and the only music I plan to play is contemporary reggae and old school r&b. I thought about walking down the aisle to Beyonce's standing in the sun
  17. @@Pablou I am using Palace resorts and the promotion was changed during our decision process, so now we are rushing to put down our deposit for the room block so that we can lock in the current promotion and 2015 prices for our 2016 wedding.
  18. @@Mrsktobe are you planning to sell your items after your wedding?
  19. Which Riu are you looking at? I have some info at home for 2014? It may not be accurate but it can give you a gage? Did you book your wedding already? If so, can they not honor the pricing from when you booked your wedding?
  20. OMG!!! I didnt know they had scorpions in Mexico!! Clearly, I am not doing any cenote or ruin excursions now. I go to Mexico on September 1 and now I'm scared!!
  21. Hi, I love Playa del Carmen, The travel agent we are using is Teresa from Wright Travel Agency, she is awesome. I have tried shopping around for travel agents, but Teresa really gave us the best rates and she responds ASAP and she is very nice. I only wish that we could make online payments. As far as resorts we stayed at Riu Palace Riviera Maya. I loved the resort, except that all our stuff smelled like mildew and we had trouble sleeping because our sheets felt damp. We stayed in December. We saw a few weddings at their Gazebo. I will say I did not see any beach weddings and I do not like their wedding locations. The gazebo is located outside of the gym/spa and right next to the pool. The pool is full of activities for the resort guests with a DJ so it is very loud. If you want something quieter, I am not sure where you could have the ceremony. Their back up for bad weather is the "terrace" where you eat during breakfast and buffet meals, it's cool if you understand that the drink machine will be in your pictures. I like this resort for vacation, but a wedding not so much. We do LOVE the look of Riu Palace Mexico, I am not sure where the wedding locations are. In 2 weeks we will be staying at the Reef Coco Beach, there is also a Reef Playacar. We originally had our wedding booked for Playacar Palace and transferred to Moon Palace Cancun. Playacar Palace is a beautiful resort and the Palace resorts have great group benefits. We also considered, Now Jade, Now Saphire, Sandos Playacar, but honestly once we found Palace we stopped looking. I will say there is a bunch of great info on this site, if you go through all the posts you can find pictures and great info. Hope this helps.
  22. lol, I am sorry to laugh, but this post has me laughing. I would TOTALLY freak out if I saw a tarantula. I saw iguanas when I went in December, I would freak out if I saw snakes. Oh my goodness. Oh, BTW also pack mosquito repellent.
  23. I think Discomovil seems to get great reviews on here. I hope we're able to book him. His rates are good so if you have an outside vendor fee, it might still be cheaper than the resort which is my case
  24. All my bridesmaids are in different states, I would recommend davids bridal. Or weddingtonway.com
