  1. How do you deal with people complaining about your choice to have a destination wedding? I believe I will be picking Playacar Palace, I know it is on the more expensive side but the benefits are amazing and those room credits.... WHEW! Someone tried to tell me that there's soo many other cheaper options in Mexico. Yea that may be true but it's only by a mere hundred or so dollars with NO room credits. I love RIU Palace, but I don't like them for weddings and I wouldn't ask guests to stay there and still need an abundance of spending money. Just a little vent.
  2. I was looking at Now Jade, a travel agent recommended it to me for my last RM trip, but we chose Riu. How is Nows pricing for ceremony and receptions? As well as group rates and incentives?
  3. I'm in DELCO, recently engaged. I am debating between Jamaica and Mexico unless I win a wedding reception. I am planning for a May or June 2016 wedding, I'm hoping I can find some resorts with great incentives
  4. That's pretty cool @@kmk2016 maybe I can have him make (most likely me) custom labels for a corona.
  5. I would like the luggage tags if they're available.. If not where did you get them?
  6. I'm considering RIU as well in Negril
  7. @@ASAtobe that sounds great! At least I'm not crazy. Are you going to send invitations?
  8. Is this possible? Including alterations.. I was thinking of going to kleinfelds since I'm a native New Yorker and my family is in NY and I want them to be part of this experience. But I don't want to pay a fortune for a dress and I may do a TTD. I saw a dress I like at David's Bridal in my budget. Just wondering if anyone had any luck. I'm looking for mermaid (maggie sottero) some lace, very romantic and simple.
  9. That's cute. The wine bottles are a really great idea... (Adding to my list) I am on the more frugal side. My fiancé has 6 groomsmen... So were quite uneven. His youngest sister will be 18 so I'm counting her as a JR bridesmaid
  10. Lol yes that guilt is strong. I love the cigar boxes I've seen on Pinterest. I was thinking of decorating child shoe boxes (I have a toddler). I got a deal on vista print and ordered "bridesmaid" light keychains, sticky notes, pens, I am also going to add a tealight Yankee candle (12 pack on sale for Memorial Day for $5) I'm also buying extra to use for the wedding. I'm waiting for a groupon deal for The Body Shop I am going to get them bar soap. Along with hand sanitizers from bath and body works. Actually scratch the shoe box I will put the stuff in gift bags and give/mail it to them. I also have "bridesmaid" labels that can go on the bags. I will post pics when my project is completed. I also ordered bridesmaid invitations with a little poem. I plan for this to be their christmas gift.
  11. I originally had 7... That turned to 9. My sister, my 2 cousins, his 2 sisters, and 4 best friends. I plan on asking them to be bridesmaids for Christmas by sending them a care package.
  12. Hey All, I am planning a May 2016 wedding. When is a good time to send Save the Dates? I want to send them early enough so people can plan financially and plan time off from work/school. I don't want to send them too early that people will forget about them (ill do magnets). I was also thinking of taking engagement photos in Playa when we visit in September to add to the save the dates so people can see the beauty of Mexico, or does that sound redundant since well be visiting then? I was thinking of sending save the dates in February or March 2015 with booking information. I'm not sure when invites should be sent either. I will be using a travel agent and setting a deposit deadline (I'm not sure when this should be either) Please help. Thanks
  13. Thank you so much. I'm hoping to find information on extra person fees and deposits as well. I am in the US
  14. Hello I have stayed at Riu Palace Riviera Maya in December and loved it, in September I will be visiting the reef coco beach to resort visit. I am debating on Riu Palace Mexico, Playacar Palace, or Moon Palace. I love the Palace packages and benefits and I believe we will be having a large group of people so any great incentives are highly appreciated. I was also doing research to find resorts in other countries that have similar resorts as Palace but I haven't found anything yet. I am seeking a family friendly resort that will provide plenty of opportunity for partying and relaxation. I was hoping those with experience will chime in. My requirements are: -family friendly -group incentives -all inclusive - great entertainment and activities -low vendor fees (if I need to bring an outside photographer or DJ) Also what are the extra fees that can apply for a reception? I would still like to have a dinner, cocktail hour, rehearsal dinner, goodbye brunch, welcome dinner, private reception with dancing. I also noticed Moon Palace has a nightclub that operates on some nights. I would like to get married on a Wednesday and wanted to know if this is a reception option since it already has speakers and lighting. I'm sorry for babbling. I am trying to make this as cost effective as possible. I don't like the Palace theme packages and wanted the free ceremony and plan to decorate the reception on my own. I am going for a vintage theme, if you know of any affordable decorators or vendors in the area that would be great. I am also hoping to take out engagement pictures in Playa while we are visiting so please recommend some affordable photographers that we can try out as well. Thank you!
