  1. I spent just over $5000. Maybe $5500 for a wedding with 45 people and a private palapa location. The reception was 6 hours and I had many add ons/extras. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Ohhh thanks I will. I found one on one site (can't remember which) and it was similar to your ring box but had a hinged lid and it was also monographed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Welcome! No recent brides that I can think of. If you use the search bar above you may find something and also make sure to check out the reviews section. We had a couple I can think of - ocean Patricia, iberostar Varadero and Laguna azul I just got home from our first anniversary trip to Melia Varadero. It was very nice. There was a wedding while we were there. The outside area is beautiful but it rained so they had to move it inside. They did a good job decorating the ballroom for her. Good luck. 4. Hey ladies. Nice to see this thread still going. With Christmas and Cuba I'm scared to think I gained my 13 lbs back. Seems tough but with me it's super easy! So will give myself a clean week then get on the scale. Need some time to adjust from the heat - I'm always super swollen after. Have a great week ladies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. No I did not. I wouldn't have even thought they should get a gift if it hadn't have been for this site. I asked my sisters and friends and no one did it lol. I doubt your parents will be offended. I think ours were more shocked we sent them something. Maybe because we aren't traditional?? Not really sure the 'history' behind giving gifts to the family. Not sure if it depends who pays for the wedding? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I think think there have been many brides on here who send the guests to the bar during photos. Don't think anyone has ever posted a negative response. I think 45 mins is enough time given you are doing photos after the ceremony! We did photobooks after the wedding for all our parents. Seemed more practical to me than something cheesy. Groupon always has photo book Canada ones and they are fantastic quality. I think your groomsmen gifts are great. Maybe do another something little for the girls. Maybe a little travel kit? Or shoes for the wedding? Or sunglasses? Just throwing out ideas lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I think his ring is great! Men are funny - Shawn was the same. Never takes it off. I think a charm is fantastic. The one you posted is great or even one that is something to their interests (animals, travel, etc) anything will be awesome. I almost got mine a Pandora bracelet as they have specials often (spend $159 get a free bracelet type thing) but one never came before I got their gifts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Your time is sneaking up too! I got all those forms when I booked my wedding so was surprised you only got them recently. I also love number 1 but all are nice. The options are so much more now for flowers and cake from last year lol lucky girl. My bouquet was 150% what I wanted but I wish we had more cake choices last year -- Your cake is gorgeous too! I don't think a head table takes from socializing. Other than speeches and dinner no one sat at the head table but I think given your wish for tables I would do the sweetheart table too We have a similar taste in music. I had the same exit song. Good idea to start it 40 seconds in. We did the parental dance all together. So mom/Shawn with my dad and I. We used Celine Dion - because you loved me or something lol. Not my type of music but it has special lyrics and my sister used it at her wedding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Everything looks absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to see it all come together. You've done so well Your last couple weeks are going to fly by!!!!! Super exciting. Love the ring box. I want something similar but larger to showcase/store my wedding jewelry. Will check out that website. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Everything is looking fantastic!!! I agree, seems silly to set up those 'altar' decorations and take them down 30 mins later. With the fee you paid I would want them all day too and they will add to your evening decor. Personally for the price I would forgo to chargers too. You have the table runners and with your decor, honestly you will have enough color and no one will even notice - save your money! You also don't want to overwhelm the tables, so I think what you have is perfect We went to the spa at 10am for our 3pm wedding. We had a quick bite to eat but got back to the room around 130pm! There was 4 of us and 3 stylists. I had one to myself, then another did 2 girls and another did 1. I think 11am for 4pm is perfect, then you won't feel rushed to have a snack and get back to your room for all your getting ready photos!!! I don't think you necessarily need weekly activities. We had a large resort (over 1000 rooms) and we were ALWAYS running into people. Also, you will have your groups and people just make their spots known and you mingle among everyone and their locations of preference. I was a bit worried about it, but it worked out super well. It just does.
  11. I am sure I was given a list of what was included in each, did you have a peak in the general info handouts you have? If not, def email them. They may just give you a scotch upgrade without having to pay for the bigger brands. Good luck
  12. I don't like country but struggled so I used what my sister did. 'All because you loved me' by Celine Dion. Don't quote me on the song title but it's something like that lol. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I paid for the cheapest as we had a lot of extra open bar! No one complained that I know of. There was still a lot of selection - hard liquor, beer, frozen cocktails, mojitos and all the fancy drinks GS has. Plus shots galore. Our friends brought clam as they don't have that. For the GS I believe I saw a list of what was included in each. I don't think the lowest price got less booze available just wasn't the premium brands of what they did have. 14. I agree. You need to rant and it's never pointless. I would be super frustrated too. I know I can't make it better but here's a big (hug) and I hope it improves and you don't have any big issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I won't be able to wish you a happy wedding day but I'll be thinking of you. Remember to slow down and take it all in it's over in a flash. The robes are really pretty and I'm glad you got them! Sometimes that's how I shop. If I can't stop thinking about it - I buy it. Truth be told I couldn't remember exactly what your dress looked like so I'm soooooo glad you posted a picture. It's absolutely stunning and you look gorgeous in it. Seriously. The back is super sexy. Good luck!!! Can't wait to see pics when you are back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Those are awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I've heard of some using walkie talkies and others just phones like you've mentioned. That said we did none of this and it just sorts itself out!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Great updates!! Love everything really. I really like the saying 'on sea or land...anchored forever'. Let us know what you choose. The flowers and cake topper are beautiful. 100 days will fly by! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Wow it's beautiful. Once the material is behind that lace it will just pop. Can't wait for more pics Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. We did maracas and gave one each. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I can't remember what the dollar amount was now but I found a Mexican customs page that was useful. I didn't claim it on the form from the plane. I had all my receipts with me separated into 'gifts' and 'decor'. I also had a list on me that said exactly what and how much was in each suitcase. We got the green light so had no issues. There was a bride on here last October who got searched and she just said it was for her wedding and they didn't care. She was in and out in 3 mins. Didn't even ask for receipts. I also brought my guest list and wedding contract to prove if need be. I think most get thru with no issues. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Hi Jasmine Picking the resort is the hardest part for sure. My advice is to get a good travel agent (one who does destination weddings is even better) as she can help you narrow your choices based on your must have list. She can also suggest ones you may not have considered. That said, I got married at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya /Mayan Beach and we had 45 people total. I took the free package and upgraded my location to the palapa and all the extras I wanted. Their base packages - even the free one - offered all the basics and some good extras. None the less we paid under $6000 and had A LOT of extras. Like 4 extra hours of reception, flowers for the girls, mariachi band, hair and makeup etc. If you want more info let me know good luck. 23. 66 is a lot. We got 70 with AC and could barely get it over 40!!! Only so much fits. Unless I guess you have heavy items. Even 45 tumblers and oh shit kits in a suitcase didn't come close Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'd pack for 80 and when questioned pull out the paperwork! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! In Calgary today but in 9 days we'll be in Cuba for our first anniversary Enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I've never heard of them! But I do know a lot use bloom bridal. Did you reach out of them and see if April would be considered rush/short term? I personally think that would be ok date wise my only concern would be shipping as two different countries. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
