  1. I also suggest bringing straws if you like to drink frozen drinks. The resort has a very limited supply of straws and it was a big complaint from my guests. The wedding ceremony was so beautiful...I had a judge that spoke english so it was perfect. I was told in advance that I was unable to customize my ceremony but it turned out that the judge handed the microphone to each of us to say a "special something". We didn't have anything prepared so that it something I wish I knew about. We ended up speaking from our hearts on the spot but I could have prepared something better. You may want to ask Marialama if this happens at every ceremony so you can prepare. I had my ceremony at 4pm...it was the perfect time of day! The sun was bright at the time of the ceremony and immediately following but than the sun began to set and we were able to see that also! My pictures turned out amazing! I created a brief "optional" itinerary and had them printed in postcard format for free at vistaprint- I would suggest doing this. I had a welcome note on the front side and the itinerary on the back. If you are interested in doing this I can suggest great locations for a welcome cocktail hour and group meals. Feel free to ask me anything...I'll eventually get around to posting a review!

My husband didn't really agree with all the extra charges for a private reception so we opted for a semi-private dinner at La Hacienda. Once we arrived we saw that 2 other weddings opted to have their wedding by the beach which almost made us change our minds about a private reception but in the end we were glad we stuck with an air conditioned restraurant- it was super humid the night of our wedding! One thing that I decided to do last minute was to reserve the disco following the dinner- it was the highlight of the entire night. I wasn't really aware of this option prior to my arrival. The cost was $200 for the DJ for 2 hours and you have the option of using the outside bar for no additional charge or having a private bartender for $15 per person per hour. It was so much fun! I have so much information but my session keeps getting timed out before I am able to finish my post. I will continue.
  3. Hello Ladies... I was married at the OGX on 10/23/09. I haven't had a chance to post a full review yet but I'm available for any questions. The ceremony site was gorgeous, we couldn't have picked a better location girls! I had some issues with the hotel staff and small things went wrong but all in all everything turned out wonderful...Marialama made everything perfect! My mother got her hair done at the spa and it turned out beautiful...the price was around $60. The spa is super reasonable- I will look to see if I still have the price list. Feel free to email me with any questions: kimberly1shaw@gmail.com link to pics from Cancun Studio: Kirk and Kimberly Good Luck! xoxo Kim
  4. Wow, all this info is great- thanks Ladies. Unfortunately, I found out today that my box was burned. Apparently that's the what happens the box has been sitting in customs for one week. I am devestated! Oh well, worse things could happen- at least that's what I keep telling myself! I hope this helps future brides out...good luck!

  6. Hi Brides.... I was wondering if anyone has expereinced the same problem: I shipped all of my wedding OOT bag contents and favors via Fed Ex to Riveira Maya Mexico for my wedding that is scheduled for next week. The box is held in customs because of travel size tequila bottles that I thought met the requirements. I was wrong..... I am being told by Fed Ex that the only way to clear the package is to hire a customs broker does anyone know how I hire one (english speaking)? I am not having much luck on the internet and the one company I contacted yesterday (GAP) has not returned my call. I wish there was a way to remove the bottles so the rest of the contents could clear- this is everything I prepared for the wedding...everything! I am so upset. Any advice would help- thanks so much! If anything, maybe my experience will be a lesson to everyone- aggghhhh. xoxo
  7. I was surprised to find perfect silk hair flowers at Claires...and better yet it was $5.50! I can't figure out how to post the picture in the posting but you can email me at kimberly1shaw@gmail.com if you are interested in seeing what it looks like!
  8. I just received everything from Amols: I ordered the flower fans, mini sombreros and the 6 inch maracas. Everything is perfect! It arrived within 4 days.
  9. Thank you for sharing your templates and link... these are great!
  10. Re: Mexico Favor Idea- Maracas -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- wow that whole website is great! I love the mini sombrero idea... how were the maracas your sister got the 8'' ones or the mini ones? Slappy, My sister got the 8 inch ones for my shower. I ordered the 6 inch ones for my wedding, they are due to arrive this week. I'll let you know how they look once they arrive (the sombreros too).
  11. Oops...it doesn't look like the link transferred into my orginal post...Here goes another try: Amols' Specialty - Catalog - Traditional Maracas
  12. Hi Ladies... I wanted to share some info with everyone. My sisters had a wonderful surprise bridal fiesta for me and they gave out these beautiful maracas (one per guest) as the favor. I think I am going to order some smaller ones as favors for my wedding since they looked so nice...and....they say "Mexico" on them. I called the vendor and there is no way to get specific colors but for the price you can't beat it: $1.95 per pair if you order over 12 pairs. Here is the link - Amols' Specialty - Catalog - Traditional Maracas I can't figure out how to post the pic but if you're interested let me know I can email you the pic of the ones from my shower. You'll be able to see all the colors. My sisters tied little tags on them that said" "Shake it High, Shake it low...Kirk and Kim are getting married in Mexico"! PS: The site also has cute little sombreros to place on sauce bottles- the 2.5 inch ones are super cheap. I am using them to put on mini tequila bottles. Hope this info helps! xoxo
