  1. Congrats! Ive stayed at your resort. Had a lot of great features we had a bride not long ago do a gatsby theme. I'll find her planning thread and post it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Congrats!!! Super exciting. I'm not an ERC bride but I'm a January 2015 Mayan bride. The sunset for us (Jan 21) was at 530pm and it just gets dark there is no long sunset! If you want time for pics after your ceremony I'd suggest the 3pm time slot. 330pm would have been safe too but if you don't have that option. We had 45 people. 3-330 ceremony and toast. 330-4 was family and group photos and 4-5 was bride/groom photos. Just depends what you want but you most likely will loose light before 6pm. We certainly did!!! Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Are we daring enough to compare pics haha! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Sounds like you had an awesome time. The photos are fabulous. The girls really put together a special time glad you had fun Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hugs. I know how stressful this time is. Most of my guests booked in the last couple days, with most being on the final day. People don't understand what it means for you and how numbers work and their importance. I hope today you can get everyone booked in and the numbers you need. Hugs keep us posted. Ps - we had people who we swore would come that didn't and vice versa. Try not to let that get you down. Cherish the people who can come and the fact you are marrying the love of your life. 6. Glad everything has come together. Don't think a ceremony is a casino is tacky at all (but I love Vegas). What you have planned there sounds beautiful. Your pics are gorgeous, such good taste. Have a freaking blast this weekend!!! Can't wait to hear all about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Welcome I got married at the Grand Sirenis. We stayed on the Riviera Maya side. They don't have an adults only section that I'm aware of just a members only area (think time share not upgraded package). They do have a beautiful unique private beach for ceremony with palapa for the reception. It's breath taking. They don't have a roof top so wearing heals may be tricky. You can get the sand/grass heal bottoms though and an isle runner would help. You can check out my review and pics below. Willing to answer any questions you have. Good luck. 8. Yay!!!! One more sleep girl. So excited for you. Will be creaping Facebook too just in case something surfaces hehe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. It is. It's on the airport side of Playa. I didn't find sandos bad. It had a nice long beach and at the time no seaweed. Can't speak for this year though, that was 2013. My wedding resort was in a cove forsure but it offered snorkeling like noones business. So depends what you like. I prefer the Cuba beaches hehe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. @@malyna Congrats!!! OMG you looked gorgeous!!! Watching you pick your dress and shoes and such, it's so neat to see it come together. Loved your husbands shoes And gorgeous resort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Good luck Just remember to slow down and take it all in as it's over in a flash. You'll confirm all your details at the on site meeting and don't be afraid to voice what you want etc. They are super accommodating. I'd say my WC was slow too. At first one week replies but they work sooooo hard. You'll see that when you are there. They never stop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. You can do group chats on what's app too. I am sure there are some differences though! Omg hun you have taken it all recently. Hugs. I feel for you and Sean and I can't even imagine the stress and pain you've felt. I love your positive attitude though and that will help you thru. I'm glad you can fly everyone in and they all be present for the legal ceremony. Hugs to you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Love your dress. Nice choice If you really love this idea I think @@tygrrlily had something similar although I don't think hers was metal. It would be in her planning thread Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I agree. That's awesome you get some extra time. Looking back I would have loved that but hard with kids. Smart on you for thinking that. I probably would have moaned and groaned too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I thought I had you on Facebook but maybe don't. What did you think of Blue Bay. We almost chose it from my first ever AI trip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Never heard of hangouts. Is it like what's app? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Welcome and congrats. Picking the resort is definitely a hard choice and as you have probably read on here, one most brides have struggled with. I actually stayed at the Sandos Caracol in 2013 and have a friend who got married there in 2014. I never had a bird poop on me and truth be told, that can happen anywhere the birds don't just poop at Sandos hehehe. At our wedding resort in Mexico one of our friends brought a plate of fries to the beach and the birds who swooped in on her were outrageous. All of your three choices would be a great pick though. We got married at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. We LOVED it. Back in January 2015 we paid around $1565 from Calgary. Prices have definitely went up due to yearly inflation, but also the poor dollar I am sure is playing a role. I am sure you will be able to find a decent resort between $1500-$1700 but you may have to be flexible on your dates. Also remember, if you have enough people you can get a group rate which will bring down your price from ones you are seeing on Expedia, etc. Also remember in April/May you may hit Spring Break or other holidays that can drive up the cost a little. I used a TA in BC. We did everything thru the phone and email. She wasn't a DW expert but has booked numerous DW and we thought she did a fantastic job. If you want her info I can email it to you. We do have some Vancouver brides though and I am sure they will jump in with whoever they used.
  18. Congrats! We booked our January 2015 wedding in May so gave us about 8 months. We did not do STDs and only did invitations so I personally think with your time crunch this is totally acceptable. People will need to book ASAP and it just seems redundant to do both in such a short time frame Hope that helps! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Good job @@Wafflesmom Sounds like an arse kicker. I've scoffed at weights before then ate my words You'll be busy but keeps your mind occupied I've been good with food but gym is lacking. I just have NO time with school and work ugh. Hate my second class so hard to stay motivated. Have a BM in town for the weekend so lots of bad stuff to be consumed but then back on it. Kinda early for me but today was down 11 ish lbs! Jeans are starting to be wearable and not cause a stomach ache for being so snug yay! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Yay!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it. Good luck. I hope it's all your dreamed of and more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Ohhh hugs @@Maggietron I am at a loss for words, but I wanted to give you a hug and some support. I am glad you can see the pros of the lovely wedding, but I feel your pain on the rest of your stay. It sounds like it was an upwards battle and one that justifies your feelings 100%. I hope you can move past it and just remember you married the love of your life and at the end of the day, that is all that matters... Congrats!
  22. I could be wrong but I believe the seaweed issue is now not such a big deal. It's calmed down and under control. I don't think it affects weddings persay. Just depends where you get married at the resort and how creative the photographer is. But again recent pictures show no seaweed for those resorts of the pics posted and the convos on FB just seemed to die off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Good luck! I know for us people tried to 'shop around' but our ACV price was always lower than anything listed online so that enticed and in the end, made almost everyone book with us. The two that didn't both booked late and paid over $500 more per person and were lucky to even get a room. Have you been on expedia or sell off lately to compare prices right now to your group rate? It's going to happen unfortunately. All you can is do is gently remind them of the benefits for them to book as a group (it's kinda tough to say why you want them too hehe). Reasons for them - handled by a TA, travels with you guys as a group, gaurenteed a room as Moon Palace books up quick, etc. Ohhhh and if they book at another resort - the fees to come to your wedding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Welcome and congrats. Lots of brides from the Bahia. Just use the search tool up top and you'll find some recent threads. We have a bride from here right now who's there getting married. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
