  1. @@kcole123 and @@calgarybride2015.....I think it is fine....my son doesn't like the belt (he is 22) however, he only saw the picture and didn't see me in the actual dress.  The back is a corset and I really do like it.

I am not going to make any rash decisions about the dress......I will focus on other things....like programs and centerpieces!!  LOL!!!

  2. @@kcole123...I am on my second dress.  I am still not sure.  My son (who is giving me away) doesn't like the second dress.  He said it is not sophisticated enough.  So I am not sure if I am going to look again.  I think I am going to wait a few months and then see how I feel.  It is so hard when I had a dress in mind and I don't think either that I have originally picked out fit the vision.

  3. @@jennifernoel1......The email address is [email protected].   I also didn't do a room block.  My fiancé didn't want to come out of pocket for the room block and not know who was going to book.   At Iberostar Rose Hall if they sell out you have the other 2 hotels on the property to fall back on and I am sure they will work out something with you on the rates....if you are using Natalie she will make sure they do that for you.

  4. @@amyknight11.....I am getting married October 10, 2015 in Jamaica.....I visited Jamaica in October last year and we had great weather.   I think it just depends.   helenk is correct that it only rains for a short while when it does (I was in Jamaica in June 2014 also and it rained while I was there).

I wouldn't let the weather be the decision maker as to whether or not to have your wedding in October.  It could rain in October if you had your wedding at home.  The resorts have backup locations in case of rain.

    Good luck!!!  and happy planning!!!

  5. Have you looked at the Jamaica experience package? It includes 1 hour of a steel drum band, private cocktail hour, 2 hours reggae band, and a private dinner and reception. Options for reception are ballroom, pool side or beach with no additional setup fees. All for $1799 It includes 20 people and it's $50 extra per person over the 20 people.

I also decided to do the  Love plus Jamaican experience - for both it is $70 per person over 20 guests.   It gives you more bang for your buck.  However, adding additional hours to the reggae band is a bit expensive....$600 per hour is the price that Ellie told me.  I decided to have the DJ instead for the other hours.

  6. @@atennille.....talk to the wedding planners for options.  I originally was going for the most expensive package and then adding the Jamaican experience but realized that I was paying double for certain items - cocktail hour, reception and entertainment.  Sometimes, going with the free or the $799 package and then adding on makes it more economical.

To cut cost I decided not to do colored linens and do my centepieces and chair covers, menus etc in the wedding colors.  The linens are so expensive and I can do the other myself.    My biggest cost is the pictures and video.  Not sure if I am going with the inside vendor or going outside.  But it is still really expensive for pictures either way.

Just my thoughts.....hope this helps!  :)

  7. @@jennifernoel1....I have just finished my boarding pass invites and I am sending them out by the end of the month.   Natalie has stated that my guests can book rooms now if they choose but if they want to do a complete package (air & room) the airfare won't be available until early November.   However, I put on my website that the deposits would be due beginning Nov. 15th....and it is $200 per person for complete package.

As I said she is very helpful and will work with each guest.

I never thought planning a destination wedding would be this intense but it is!!!   I have had quite a few days where a glass of wine was needed!  :)

  8. Hi everyone,

I finally finished the boarding pass invites.  These took forever but I think they came out pretty good.   I used regular 65lb colored card stock for the covers and a shimmer for the boarding pass.  The covers didn't have any sparkle and I realized after they were printed it would have looked better with a metallic paper.....so not wanting to order more paper and pay additional printing cost, I went to Michaels and found the diamond dust spray and sealer for paper.   It took some time and a day to dry but I think it worked out great!

I have to thank all the ladies on this site as I borrowed ideas from numerous people.....I am not that creative and having other's templates helped me tremendously.  I especially have to thank Ktchi and Joanne because their templates made my job so much easier!!!

  9. @@jennifernoel1......Hello.... and congratulations!  I have a wonderful travel agent....she was born in Jamaica but has lived in states since she was a child.  She is very knowledgeable about the island.  Her and I just returned from Jamaica in June from my 2nd set of site visits.   Her name is Natalie Gaston, Dlanor Travel.....number is 215.402.7022.   Tell her Tish referred you.

    Happy planning!!!!

  10. @@pamelas21....I would try negotiate with Jan's and Tai and tell them the competitor is cheaper.  It doesn't hurt to ask.

@@CherJK.....I am thinking of doing a day trip to Margaritaville (they have a new one in Falmouth) with the guests.  Not sure yet.  And I am also considering a breakfast the day before everyone leaves but I don't want to pay...so I will just tell everyone to meet us at the restaurant.

  11. Hi ladies.....I am bringing a lot with me but then I am going very simple.....I chose to do the Jamaican experience with the poolside reception.  So I am going with regular white linens and my centerpieces, place cards and chair sashes will be in my wedding colors of fuschia and orange.

I am purchasing an isle runner from Oriental trading as Royalton has it priced at $150 which is highway robbery when they only cost $30.

I am also doing my bouquet.  We haven't decided on a bridal party as of yet, so it just may be a MOH and BM.  So I will do two bouquets and I will use the fresh one in my package to throw.

I will be posting my invites very soon...hopefully by the end of the week.  :)
