I noticed the same...20 guests included, cost for each additional. It is costly when it is an all-inclusive and the guests are already staying there. I guess everyone has to make some money.

Paying for our own as well....this is my second wedding and my FI's first. We are a bit older and he suggested the DW. I am so happy he did.

Montego Bay October 2015....haven't decided on venue yet.
My FI proposed July 28, 2013 at Moon Palace resort in Cancun. We were there to attend a friends wedding...so it was an extra special trip.

I actually decided to do a DW because I knew it would limit the # of people attending. My FI and I both have big families and to have a wedding at home, we would have had over 200 guests. We just can't afford a wedding that big. So DW it is!

I went on site visit to Iberostar in Jamaica Oct. 2013. Loved the resort. But I like the grand for reception and the suites for ceremony....but you have to have everything at one hotel or the other.

Good ideas!

I am also concerned about resorts booking up and not have rooms for guests. I have been watching Royalton White Sands and they are booked for dates in 2015. I am going on a site visit there in June and that will be my first question is the availability of rooms.

Very true!!! It brought balance to all the issues surrounding planning a wedding and why we are getting married!

Thinking of having a reggae band during reception....not sure of cost yet but we shall see.
Stage 1, And I'm Already Stressing...

Congrats....as @@malyna said smaller resorts may be the way to go. If doing Jamaica I would look at Negil...which is very laid back and more rustic.
Most resorts have set packages that may work for you and if you need something else added they can accommodate. Trying not to stress is easier said than done but try not to. As long as you have a clear vision of what you are looking for you will have the special experience you are looking for!
Happy planning!
