  1. Hi ladies,

I found this site to order linen men's suits and wedding attire.  It is www.islandimporter.com.

I thought the prices were reasonable.  :)   And they do custom based on measurements you submit to them.  So if you have an athletic build man, then you can get a suit that fits.

They also have some bridal dresses and some casual wear for the beach.

  2. I agree with all of the comments and you just can't please everyone.   One thing this experience has taught me is to do things to make myself and my future husband happy.  Everyone else is irrelevant.  It seems that no one likes to see others happy.  Misery loves company.

Try not to let the MIL get to you too much!  I know it is hard but at least you don't live with her or have to see her every day!!!  :D

  3. @kellymiller- it is a combination

@@pddcmc @@Meandhim @@Soon2beMrsJ Thank you!!  I can now actually see myself getting married!  I absolutely love it!!!

@@veryvalentine..  Thank you! It is a new dress at DB....Galina Signature.  I had looked at it online but didn't think much of it.  However, the attendant picked it out for me and it looks very different in person and on than on the website.

  4. Hi Ladies,

I must be the most indecisive bride to be!!!  I have bought and exchanged 3 bridal gowns to date!!!  Well, yesterday I finally found the dress!!!  My first dress was satin and had a bubble hem which I decided I hated, the second was lace but not enough wow factor, the third was satin with bling but very heavy - really loved this one but I know in Jamaica I would sweat to death!!!  So I found myself back in the bridal shop yesterday and I picked out a few dresses and my attendant brought in a new dress that they just got in.  It has everything, it is light, it has a low back, it has lace, tulle and sparkle and is sexy!!!!  I felt amazing and I received so many compliments from the whole store.....my attendant even got the store manager so she could see it on me!!!!

So ladies, let me know what you think!!!  I believe I nailed it this time!!!!

  5. @@pddcmc.....You have done the right thing and hopefully your family will realize this day is all about you!!!  I think we all have some type of family discord when important events are happening.  Everyone tends to be a bit stressed out!

My mother and I are at odds....why?  Because my parents don't have passports and they didn't want to fly.  I have been asking my mom to get her picture done and go to get the forms from the post office so they can get their passports but it is just a struggle.  So I have decided that if they make it fine, if not fine.......this is my second marriage, so my dad was able to walk me down the aisle the first time.  I am going to be 47 years old when I get married, so I can handle giving myself away.  ;)  :)

Everything is going to work out for you.....just keep thinking that your wedding is only a few weeks away and it is going to be perfect just like the love you have with your fiance'!!!!

  6. @@Jpdaflyest67....I chose Royalton because Iberostar didn't have my date available and then the Royalton has the Jamaican package which includes the reggae band which I thought would be a nice touch for our wedding.

I have gone back and forth about whether I should have changed the date and went with Iberostar but I am satisfied.  I visited both resorts......Iberostar is bigger and has more activity for adults but if you have children attending I would go with Royalton because its serves both adults and children.  Also, Royalton is smaller which makes it more intimate and you can catch up with your guests much easier.

Also, the wedding planner at Royalton (Chandlyn) is so very nice!!!!

    I hope this helps.  :)

  7. @@Sandraco8....I am sorry to hear that.  :(     I was really surprised at the number of weddings that happen in Jamaica and the number in October.   Yes, Tai Flora is expensive but it seems she has a monopoly with the resorts in Jamaica.

    My email is [email protected]

Did you check out the Royalton White Sands or Secrets?   Just giving you a few other options in Montego Bay.  Half Moon is absolutely beautiful however, they are expensive.

  8. @@Sandraco8....the Iberostar wedding planners are great.  When I had my tours (I actually toured them twice)....I loved their attention to detail and the fact that they went over the packages with me to show how I could save money.  However, October 10th was booked, but I believe they told me that October 9th was available but that was many months ago.  I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!  :)

Tai Flora is the flower person for all of the resorts in that area.....Royalton White Sands uses them also and Tai can be expensive.  I am waiting to get a final count of guests then I decide about letting them do my centerpieces or will I do them myself.

Please let me know if Iberostar has your date available.

  9. @Sandraco.....hi and congratulations on your wedding.   I have visited 4 resorts in Jamaica when I was deciding where to have my wedding...Secrets, RIU, Iberostar and Royalton White Sands.   My first choice was Iberostar however, they were booked for my wedding day on October 10th.  So I went with Royalton White Sands.   If I didn't have children attending the wedding, I would have gone with Secrets or Iberostar Grand Hall.

I have been using a travel agent who was born in Jamaica but has lived in the US for most of her life. She is very knowledgeable about Jamaica and the resorts in Montego Bay.

There are two new resorts (actually renovations) Hyatt Ziva and Zilara which are really nice however because they have just opened they have a few glitches but the wedding packages are reasonable.

TripAdvisor has been a great help to me.....read the good and the bad about each resort that you are considering.

If you decide to change, I know your guests will understand.  I actually considered changing my resort because it is a smaller resort and thought I would like something larger.  However, the wedding is during off-peak times and I am hoping it won't be too crowded.  :)

Good luck and don't hestitate to ask anyone on this site for advice.....this site has been a great help to me.  :)

  10. Hi Brides!

I just had to share that David's Bridal is having a sale on 50% of markdowns right now, plus free shipping on $99.  I got my two flower girls' dresses on black Friday during the same sale (except all shipping was free!) and got these dresses for $20 a piece:

It's been my most exciting wedding deal so far! It would be a great time to get bridesmaids dresses, flower girl dresses, or trash-the-dress dresses! Just wanted to share :)

I got my bridal shoes for $15.00 with this sale.   Betsy Johnson Blue....they were $100.00 at David's Bridal.  And $130 at Nordstroms.  Great buy!!!!  :D  :)

  11. Well, I believe I am the queen of changing dresses......I changed my mind two times.  Luckily, I purchased from David's Bridal who will allow you to exchange the dress as long as it is the same or greater price.  So I finally found "the dress", it is sexy, has bling and I look absolutely amazing in it.  I also cried a ton of tears this time when I tried it on.  I just knew this time and I know without a doubt that I have the right dress.

Having said all of that, it is okay to change your mind.  It all works out in the end.  :D

  12. @@calgarybride2015....yes she had receipts and everything was insured.  However, the boxes were ripped open and items removed.  They would not allow her to take what was left to the resort.  And she had maracas customized with their names and wedding date on them, so I was also shocked that customs gave her a hard time.

It may be an extreme case but it does happen.  She did get her money back when she returned home because she had them insured.  It may be different because she was coming from the US vs Canada but it almost ruined her wedding.

  13. @@kjb123....I would pack them in your carry on.  My girlfriend was married in Mexican last year and customs kept all of her wedding favors and gifts etc.  She had to buy all new favors off the resort with the help of the resort wedding planner.  It was a nightmare.  I wouldn't pack anything in the checked luggage or send anything ahead to the resort.

I am getting marriend in Jamaica next year and I am packing all wedding decorations and favors in carry on bags.  I will also have the bridesmaids take some items also.
