  1. Hi Kris - there actually is a 2015 Brides thread (http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/72192-2015-bride-here/). I was on the same wave as you and was about to start one but then I saw that one. How's the planning going?
  2. Wow thanks so much for sharing. @ shared www.silkletter.com. They also have some pretty reasonably priced bags you can design as well as tumblers.
  3. @@fmyers562015 & @@amarie4713 - she purchased a super sexy but comfy strappy high heeled sandal and glued tiny pearls on the heel & the diagonal part that went across her feet. No one could believe she tricked her shoes out including the photog. Everyone thought she bought them like that. She is a shoenista & loves to rock her own style. She came up with the idea to buy a nice but relatively inexpensive shoe and glue the pearls on rather than spend big money on a shoe she felt she most likely wouldn't wear again. The sandal was by Nina and had cream fabric, which made it easy to glue the pearls onto with fabric glue. I will try to get her to shoot me a pic to post. She doesn't know it yet but I want her to make me a pair since I can't steal I mean "borrow" hers lolol.
  4. are you all putting your names etc on the out of town bags? playing around on silkletter.com, i designed one that does and one that doesn't and am torn. while i think the one with our name, wedding date etc... looks really great (DF actually loved it), I also don't see very many people using it after the wedding if we go that route. would love to hear you alls thoughts!
  5. @@mysticjade -Congrats & welcome!
  6. @@JenniferM - oh no! i'm planning for 2015 so i haven't crossed that bridge yet. could you send them a "gentle reminder" to register/book if they haven't already done so? i'm guessing the deadline has already come and gone. it seems like others in similar situations sent emails. for my sister's wedding, my mom made phone calls because unfortunately, we have relatives who assume you know they are coming. I found the following discussions containing suggestions for how others have dealt with this issue - hope it helps: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/71498-how-to-remind-guests-to-book-their-room/page-14 http://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/destination-wedding-do-send-an-email-reminder-to-guests-who-havent-booked-their-rooms/20286a793385cb33.html
  7. @@trbutler - CONGRATS...you truly are a posting machine! i'm inspired!!!
  8. has anyone checked out wedding chicks.com? i hear there are templates over there as well.....just curious @ - thanks so much for sharing silkletter.com. #iaminLOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. @@talicea7812 - no apologies necessary! your post is super helpful. so many have made comments about the "nickle & diming" but no one really goes into details why. until now, i've pretty much only been able to deduce that it's associated with the outside vendor fee/per outside vendor (totally understandable) but i wasn't sure on what else. did you go with any of the packages? is that why they are giving you the "blues" re flowers etc? that's the other thing i'm confused about. hopefully our upcoming trip will help clear a lot of things up. did you go down for the dress rehearsal? my ta confirmed that we are all set but i'd like to "sneak" off and go check out other properties and meet some vendors (e.g., photographers) while we are there. theme: your colors and theme sound BEAUTIFUL!!! can't wait to see pics i also love your "x" table formation idea - very unique! did you do a peacock theme for your save the dates as well? i'm thinking of doing the luggage tag holders but inserting pics of the beach with the save-the-date info on it. since i plan to send it out once we nail down the resort, i figured it would entice guests to come seeing how rough this winter is shaping out to be.
  10. can't get beyonce's "drunk in love" out of my head....

  11. can't get beyonce's "drunk in love" out of my head....

  12. hi @@amarie4713 - i hear ya and agree. i'm torn between going heavy or interspersing brooches throughout. I saw great pics and examples on google/etsy. i'm guessing my sister's willing/unwilling participation will be the deciding factor re how little or how much bling will be added. though i have a feeling she may veto the idea....she doesn't know it yet, but i want her to trick out my shoes like she did her own for her wedding.
  13. I hear you re planning while the other half was glued to last night's game. Thanks for sharing your "To-Do" list. I'm very early but think it's really helpful to store away. Would LOVE to see pics and know what Etsy vendors you are using! Please share!!!! Pretty Please!?
  14. @@talicea7812 - ughhhhh say it isn't so! My TA said they had one of more responsive planning teams! Where did you get the sashes from? I am thinking we will have to buy lots because paying the vendor fee for things like photography and videography is killing the budget. My color scheme is classic black & white with a touch of "champagne" (aka pale gold). I want the invite to be on pale shimmer gold paper with black matting. This however does not tie with my Save the Date (as Martha Stewart would mandate lolol). I am leaning against using many flowers and instead using candles, floating candles, etc as much as necessary. How about you? Who are you using vendor-wise and what's your decorum? I couldn't agree more re "filler" flowers. That is nucking futs! Thanks @tammyhost!
  15. My TA strongly warned against shipping anything due to Customs but also because many brides reported not being able to find the package at all. Others in the thread have mentioned that as well. If your destination has something like a Walmart relatively close by, I would buy some items there. Cancun has one so that's what I plan to do.
  16. Agreed! Really cute and so nice! I too would love to know where you got the wine glasses or how you made them.
  17. I agree @@KWitt. I am thinking of going the zazzle route...atleast for my Save the Dates anyway.
  18. @make2dayamazing: aren't they?!?! My sister is really artistic and great at DIY projects so I am thinking this may be another bonding project for us. I have to figure out if I will do real flowers or a smaller, less "brooch-filled" version for her. I found a few Etsy sellers that sell brooches and buttons in bulk. Now to research real looking flowers....
  19. After reading this string as well as the reviews in the vendor section, I am super excited about hiring Sascha. He is also the ONLY Photog my finance loved. He found something wrong with all others I have shown him - which is laughable considering he now claims photography isn't that important to him (insert GIANT eye roll). Here's hoping Sascha and team are available and don't bust the budget too badly.
  20. I second that re creativity. I know it's early but is anyone contemplating a brooch bouquet? Initially I wasn't but am thinking more about it.
  21. @@MM2MJ - I'm not but my college bestie got married there. I'm happy to reach out to her if you have questions. Her wedding was at Paradisus Costa Rica in Guanacaste. It was beautiful! @@Make2dayAmazing - CONGRATS! @strwbsprkl - congrats ON BOOKING!!!
  22. Hi All- Pardon my ignorance but what templates are you talking about and where are they?! From the sounds of things, I should have started a planning thread instead of a blot!
  23. Congrats & Welcome - I'm a fellow 2015 bride! @@WesnKris is right - people are really helpful and pretty responsive when you pm a question. Happy Planning!
