  1. You can always wait for more spring/summer colours to come into stores, you might find a really great dress!
  2. That is awesome you are doing Insanity and a Yoga challenge!! I'm starting month 2 tomorrow and I'm not going to lie, I know it's going to be brutal and I'm a bit scared. I haven't been following the eating plan because I can't have whey protein. I've been eating balanced meals and using my fitnesspal to track calories which has been very helpful and eye opening to how much calories I was consuming before Insanity. It definitely keeps me in check.
  3. I love these sandals!! I'm seriously considering sandals over giant heels. I want to be comfortable. But it means paying a lot more for alterations and hemming...
  4. That site has such nice belts/sashes! If I hadn't already purchased mine I would be getting one online!
  5. I think that is completely fine!! I'm in the same position, none of my 4 bridesmaids, 2 of which live here have mentioned a bridal shower for me. I'm a little hurt and peeved that no one has made the effort. I think it is great that your mom has offered!!
  6. I agree completely! It sounds like she has made little to no effort for your wedding. If it was her priority to make it to your wedding she would! I was worried that my cousin who has two small young children wouldn't be able to make it to our wedding in Cabo. She has a 2 year old and an infant (will be 4 months in may), she and her husband are making the effort to come! I think you should be honest and up front with her and ask the same from her! It's not fair to string you a long with false hope of her coming.
  7. They look great!! We are having the same attire for our wedding party, how hot are they? The guys are already worrying about how much they are going to sweat.
  8. That price sounds comparable. The Riu now charges $710 for a dj and lighting package, keep in mind this is for a few hours only. We only have the reception site from 7-11pm. Once dinner and speeches are done that is not a lot of time.
  9. Finally a new Riu Palace thread! I am getting married May 22, 2013! Wedding Coordinator: Kylene- who has not returned my emails but Margarita the manager has Ceremony: Gazebo I am getting anxious to book the Baja Norte for the reception area because there are 3 other weddings the same day!! Photographer: I am bringing a local photographer with us Videographer: Angel Zapien Dress & BM dresses: done! I just need to have mine altered, I'm waiting till April to do this Mens attire: Just starting to look at spring stuff Hair & Makeup: Suzanne Morel booked! I am bringing chair sashes, cloth napkins, favours, candles, fans etc We will be having a dj, I don't want to have to worry about music- one less stress! Can't wait to hear from others!
  10. Just noticed I wrote checklist twice, price difference between the "checklist" and "2013 Price List"
  11. I have contacted management at the Riu regarding the price discrepancy on the DJ & lighting package- between the checklist and checklist. Has anyone noticed any price errors?
  12. Congratulations!! I'm going to be honest, I don't know if it is possible to get married in Lake Louise for $10,000. The venue costs alone are outrageous! My advice is to research, research, research!!! Good luck and happy planning!!
  13. I considered using the Riu's hair salon for hair and makeup but was not able to find many recent reviews. After reading a ton about how great Suzanne Morel's is, I decided to spend a bit more on someone more reputable. I don't want to take a chance and regret not spending a bit extra and cringe when I see photos. Just a thought!
  14. I don't have a timeline but I realized after my brother's wedding last weekend in Vegas, do speeches before or right after dinner! The less booze consumed, the better lol.
  15. I purchased my chair sashes from linentablecloth.com and they were cheap, I'd take a look online.
  16. Wow, these are amazing!! You can tell a lot of time and effort went into these and they are very personalized!
  17. You will need to dry clean in between trashing it and wearing it for your AHR. I've heard of brides doing it locally before they return home and it is MUCH cheaper. It will probably be really dirty after your AHR as well, you'd be surprised how black the bottom will get after being dragged on the ground.
  18. I've never heard of dresses being ruined, but it will need to be dry cleaned to get the sand out for sure. The way I look at it, what are you going to do with your dress after the fact, you're never going to wear it again- might as well trash it. lol
  19. I'm in the exact same position, no maid of honour but I have 4 bridesmaids. Choosing the order is tricky! I love your tumblers and guestbook- they look great!!!
  20. I haven't told my mom about the non-bouts attire, I have a feeling she will have an issue with it as well. haha. We will probably get them for our dad's.
  21. We are doing the exact same attire for my FI and his groomsmen. I've decided not to do bout for the GM, I think it looks awkward with a random flower stuck on a dress shirt plus its an added cost.
  22. Was your wedding booked at the Riu Palace or Riu Sante Fe? From my understanding there is a big difference between the two in regards to weddings etc
  23. I have her card, I will forward on the info.
  24. I am thinking the same thing! Doing a cocktail hour will add a minimum of $1000 to our budget and I don't feel it is necessary.
