  1. Awesome pics! Your dress must have weighed a ton when you got out of the water!
  2. I think if you really want to have parents names on the invites, then just do it, include her on them and if she has passed by the time your mailing them, oh well, people will understand. The other route is to go with a non-traditional invite (passport style) and not include parents names at all. That way the crazy etiquette obsessed family members won't even notice that parents names were not included.
  3. I have my swatches in hand right now trying to figure out best way of describing them. I haven't ordered dresses yet, but I'm going to. Best way to describe the material is stretchy, shiney, thin but not too thin that the dress would be see through. Kinda silky feel to them, I'm pretty sure the material would feel great to wear. If you look through the henkaa galleries you'll see lots of women of all sizes wearing them and they all look good, chesty, heavy, thin, chestless. Everyone can wear them you just have to tie it to suit your body!
  4. Welcome back, and congrats on the engagement! Very cute story!
  5. Hahahaha I'm so guilty of this, I refer to my FI as hubby all the time! I think part of this is because we're both in our 30's and we do live common-law. I feel childish referring to him as my BF and I actually can't stand the term FI. I find alot of women when referring to their FI do so in a very snobbish way... it erks me! No offense to those that say FI (all the time).
  6. TTD stands for trash the dress, doesn't always mean you destroy it, but you play around in the ocean or pool, lie in the sand, etc. Often done the day after wedding with your hubby and a photographer. And I googled your dress, it's gorgeous! Have you already bought it?
  7. Probably cheaper at Walmart so I don't have to pay shipping and duties. Walmart also has really cheap lanyards and I'm still debating whether lanyards are better?
  8. I lov these passport invites, I'm still unsure if I'm going to do them or not. I bought invites a long time ago when I was planning a wedding at home, so I might still use them.
  9. We are paying just under $3300 for us and my son including flights and tax for 1 week AI. We are staying a second week but it's being paid for by FIs parents as our wedding gift! The one thing that sucks though is my son is being charged adult rate for the resort even though he will only be 14. I don't think he's going to be drinking that much booze... haha!
  10. Congrats on your engagement, you've come to the right place to find your answers and help you through the process of planning a DW! The next step you might want to take is speaking with a travel agent, they would know which resorts have direct flights and which resorts can accommodate large groups.
  11. Wow! 25 years! That's awesome! Unfortunately I can't help you with your questions on your chosen resort but these forums are full of info and hopefully you can find some answers!
  12. No Michaels! That's crazy, Ottawa should definitely have one. If not any craft store should have the stuff you're looking for, even walmart should have some it in their scrapbooking section.
  13. I've seen them at Walmart in the stationary section for super cheap too. I might get mine there!
  14. Love the pics! I really want to do a TTD but FI doesn't want to... he hates getting pics taken.
  15. We are using a travel agent. He found us a great group rate and set up a wedding website for us, all we had to do was send the STDs with the website and his contact info. Everyone in our group booked through him and he would send me weekly emails of who had booked. I didn't have to do a thing!
  16. Welcome to BDW! Tons of great info on here! Happy planning!
  17. Congrats on your engagement! Happy planning!
  18. What I found helped me narrow down choices the most was googling reviews of my top choices. Keep in mind you can't please everyone so you'll come across tons of bad reviews but lots of good too. Reviews helped me eliminate several resorts that weren't senior friendly (I have grandparents and aunts and uncles coming) even my top choice quickly got crossed off the list, but eventually I found a resort that would make everyone happy!
