  1. Thanks! It is from Dessy.com although I am ordering it from the bridal shop I am getting everything else from.
  2. Same here. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I will be a lot more cautious in the future when reading reviews!
  3. I am having the same problem and for now we are only one person off so I am just going to let it go. Have you thought about including some other family/friends that are going in the wedding party. While they might not be exactly who you had in mind, if you are that worried about it being equal you can always add, rather than subtracting. I think your bridesmaids will be a little hurt if you decide not to include them at this stage.
  4. Welcome and Congrats!!! I had a lot of the same questions and I know it can kind of be overwhelming at first. Don't stress about family and friends and how they will react. Some will be upset and others will be really excited. The best thing I can tell you is to just go with the flow and remember that it is about what you and your fiance want. As far as a date, I chose April 2013 because it is the cheapest time to travel that isn't during hurricane season. That being said, I don't have many children going so the out of school thing isn't really a problem I have to worry about. I am sending out my STD's this week so you are fine time-wise where that is concerned. The biggest thing you want to do is to make sure that you get word out to people so that they can start to make arrangements as early as they choose to. I chose Jamaica as I want it to be legal when we have our ceremony, and Jamaica has shorter residency requirements than Mexico does (2 BUSINESS days versus the 4 you would have to wait in Mexico). Just keep that in mind when you make your decision. We didn't want to worry about having to be down there a full week before we got married. When it came to bridesmaids, I simply met with each one individually and explained to them that I would love for them to be a bridesmaid, but since it was a destination wedding and I know it would be expensive, I understood if they just couldn't swing it. That way they can decide for themselves and know that I would be fine with whatever their decision was. The one thing I would suggest about a TA is to make sure they specialize in Destination Weddings. I cannot stress this enough. I went with the travel agency from this forum and Teresa has been fantastic about answering my questions. Just know that you will come up with many more throughout the process so don't worry about asking them everything in the first meeting. The first thing I would make sure you ask though is "what do I need to do right now?" They will assist you on what is a priority to decide and what can wait, and this information is EXTREMELY helpful. Either way, congrats to you and good luck! I hope this helps a little!
  5. I think it looks great on you without the 15lbs gone! I don't think it is too dressy for a beach wedding either. I don't think there is really a rule anymore that a beach wedding requires a simpler dress. I have seen quite a few elaborate dresses used for beach weddings and they look fantastic. That being said only you can decide what you think of the dress. I had a little bit of buyers remorse myself because I fell in love with a dress first thing, and six months later, when it comes in, I have seen pics of so many other dresses. It did pass though. Trying on my dress solidified that it really was the one for me. If you love the dress, you love the dress. Either way, you will look fabulous in whatever dress you wear!
  6. Thank you for starting this thread!! I have been wondering about some of these things too. I normally would expect to tip servers, hairdressers, etc... But I don't know what to do about everyone else!!!
  7. I saw this dress when I was looking for BMs dresses and just fell in love with it! Didn't know what I was going to wear it to and then it dawned on me... rehearsal dinner dress! So excited!!!
  8. DO NOT pay that much for them unless they are doing the whole thing for you!!! There are sooooo many templates available through this site for FREE that all you would have to do is enter your info. Printing is going to cost you a bunch anyway, so save money where you can. Just type in Passport Invite Template into the search box and see what you can find! Good luck!!!
  9. Your best bet would probably be to look around the forums and find a template that you like. Most have them already set up to print and all you would have to do is send the file in to a place like Kinko's or Vistaprint and have them print it out.
  10. You don't know how happy you just made me. I have been looking for a suit for my FI everywhere and just could not find what I was looking for. So glad I ran across this and learned about Cubavera!
  11. You are definitely not starting too early. You are actually right on time! Planning a destination wedding means doing a lot of stuff ahead of when you normally would so that people have time to start saving up and you have less stress trying to make things come together when you don't get to see many things in person until the day of. It takes a LOT more research to plan a destination wedding! I too would suggest working with a TA if you don't already have one. Just make sure they specialize in destination weddings!!! Trust me, it will save you a lot of time and effort in the end!!!
  12. That was pretty interesting. Makes me feel kinda stupid for paying as much as I did ...lol

    Newb!

Congrats! In my opinion, my TA has been my saving grace! She has been fantastic about answering all my questions and taking care of all my guests' questions/arrangements so that I don't have to worry about it! I would definitely recommend getting one. I am using Teresa from Wright Travel. You should at least talk to one and see if it is something that you would like to do...
  14. Those are pretty cool. I just worry about insulation as it is going to be hot out and frozen drinks melt pretty fast out there...
  15. I have all of my templates if any of you would like to use them and change them to your own personal style. I know how hard it is to get started on these things!
  16. I LOVE the second pair!!! I wish I could get cute shoes like that for my bridesmaids, but unfortunately, with the ceremony being on sand, I think I am just going to have to go with some cute sandals in fushcia for them. I was thinking of having these dyed but still undecided...
  17. Don't sweat, you really aren't. I think most are just way ahead! I haven't even gotten to the 1 year mark yet. The only thing I have done is just play around with stuff that is fun to do and set up travel arrangements to secure my date.
  18. I love those! I have just been in love with that color combo since I started planning!!!
  19. Hey! That's awesome! I am so glad the info helped!!!
  20. I was just about to ask the same thing! Still don't know how I want to word my invites for my bridal shower!
  21. I love the Monogram as well!! What font is that? I have been trying to find a similar one but there are just so many out there and so far I haven't found one I like.
  22. I am so glad you chose the blue! I am loving the new trend with brides' shoes matching the wedding colors!!! My shoes will be bright Fuschia!!
