  1. I know!! I thought DW's were supposed to be easy too. I figured there would be some drama, but geeez. Sorry to hear about your bridesmaids (congrats on the pending arrivals, but bummer that they are dropping out). I don't think she'll be traveling to Mexico at 8 months prego... I sure wouldn't (even for a friend's wedding!). We are officially at 89 days until our wedding, and 85 days until we leave. I'm soooo ready!!!! Quote: Originally Posted by chiquita8302 YES. P.S. Brief drama update since I've last had time to chat.... 2 of my bridesmaids are teachers and I literally planned our wedding on their school vaca because that was the only way they could come... now both are pregnant (like they weren't planning when I discussed this with them?!?!) and neither can come (though one claims she's definately going to be able to come despite the fact that she'll be 8 months pregnant (I think she honestly feels bad, but argh! I can't plan for numbers like this!). FUN. :-)
  2. Have you seen any of the templates you can use to assign seating?? Those might be helpful. Here is one I saw: http://www.bridetodo.com/todolists/seating-chart-creator.php
  3. are you doing a dinner where you have to have everyone's entree choices ahead of time? If not, then I don't know that I'd bother with it. that's the only reason I'm doing place cards. the table numbers are more because we have to be sure his mother and his father (if his father goes) are separated lol but I think we'll be putting all of the place cards/table assignments on one table and let everyone come pick them up. Seems like extra work I won't want to end up doing, haha. welcome to the group and the site!!! it's super helpful - especially the resort-specific threads. how's your planning going?
  4. I really, really like your 2nd dress! I don't think it'll be too hot or anything else. I think you can make this one more fun and flirty with a cute belt or your bouquet or other accessories. Do you remember how you felt when you had it on? What made you say "this is it!"? I had a lot of second thoughts about my dress once I ordered it, but when it came in, and I put it on again, I remember why I fell in love with it in the first place. That said, if you don't think it's the right dress, then by all means, keep looking!! it's not a day for compromise...
  5. The countdown is ON!!! I would ask to have it returned to someone else's room if at all possible. I'm planning to have it sent to my friend's room who is also staying in the casitas. I don't want my fiancé to see it before the wedding day either!! I was told they can't quote steaming or pressing ahead of time, and it's something the onsite coordinator will have to do based on the services you need. She also told me there's an iron in the room for any touch ups I want to do myself (on my wedding dress? are you KIDDING me?) Someone also mentioned removing any removable parts (straps, corset laces, etc.) before you send it off to be steamed. Otherwise, they said the resort will take good care of it.
  6. I just put mine together, using the paper strip method as an "on/off" switch. They work beautifully! I figured the morning of the wedding we'll turn them on and put them in the lanterns, then hand the stuff off our onsite WC. I went with 3 for my 12" and 14" lanterns, and I will probably use 6 for my bigger lanterns.
  7. I'm OCD remember? lol if I've got my lists, I feel more in control of stuff. Our RSVP deadline is Sept 1st. Technically the entree list is due to the resort mid-September, so they can do a final cost 45 days out from our date. I wanted to have time to chase down the non-responders. But final payment is due Aug 17th to our TA (for our guests), so this timing worked all the way around. I'm doing sand dollar ornaments as the favors. It will have our names & wedding date on the back. Personalized they were $3 each. We got our parents (and us!) the wind chimes:
  8. I think gray will be gorgeous on the beach (or anywhere). and not too hot. much better than black or navy in my opinion (for the beach). my FI is wearing a gray suit..
  9. I'm sad to admit that wedding "stuff" has taken over my craft room. It's quite the collection. My FI has asked a couple of times if we can throw out the "empty" boxes...and I've had to tell him they aren't empty! Then he wants to know how we're getting all of this to Mexico - very carefully! This pile is the ceremony & reception stuff. The big box is the paper lanterns. The box on top of the black & white bag contains my flowers. A closer look: The plastic bags are such a nice touch, no? And this side is the OOT bags: Please tell me I'm not the only one!!
  10. well sure - what do you need help with? If I have the supplies in my craft room, I'm game.
  11. y'all crack me up!! I'm waiting for our RSVPs to come back, and final payments to be made before I make place cards. We have to put the entree selection on them, so I need to know what the guests want to eat! As far as deco, I have paper lanterns to hang from the reception/dinner location, some glitter (wood) shells to throw on the tables, table runners, and a bunch of shells/starfish too. I'm trying to get an idea from EDR if they have either a bowl or tall vase that we can put some sand, shells and a votive in for the tables. Something like this: I haven't done table numbers yet - I asked my FI to find photos he wanted to use for them and he hasn't done that yet (boys!!). I haven't made the aisle markers, but have the materials. I'm doing the smaller paper lanterns with ribbon, maybe a starfish. I have to play around with them to see what I like. My menus have been designs, but not printed. I need to finalize the ceremony/programs so I can get them printed at the same time. Let's see...my "To Do" list also includes the OOT bags - have most of the stuff, but won't put them together until I get a near-final # of guests. Same with the "ceremony pack" - programs, fans and tears of joy packet with a ribbon/tag. I need to make the DIY LED "throwies" for the lanterns too. I also need to make a tag for the favors (still waiting for those to come in - hopefully next week). Then lastly I need to write a welcome letter for everyone to drop in their bags. whew....
  12. lots and lots of positive thoughts that it either turns more north and avoids Mexico, or passes quickly over and there are no delays!! just keep in mind, even if you have to push it to Saturday, you're STILL getting married, and it's just a little hiccup (ok a big one, but in the big scheme of marriage, it's a brief moment in time).
  13. Jen - when is your wedding?? We have 40 people booked right now, 4 more supposed to be at timeshares (but we didn't get confirms if they actually booked), and 2 more that are maybes (my travel agent/friend). So maybe 48 of us total - waaaay more than I expected. Our final payments from the guests are due 8/17, so we should have a final number shortly after that. The RSVPs were requested by Sept 1st. We're at the 90 day mark!! I think 7 is as late as I want to push dinner, since some of our guests are coming from the east coast. If they late comers don't make the dinner, then we'll tell them to meet us at the bar later!
  14. Kristee - I'm an EDR bride who's had her share of Lomas fun. I found you by watching this thread (being nosey to see if Lomas is tough for everyone..or just EDR). I sent you a PM here a few days ago, as well as a contact via your webpage (yesterday), and haven't heard back. Could you contact me please? we now return you to your regularly schedule AS thread. thanks ladies!!
