  1. Thanks!!! Once I finally decide on which parasols, I'll post pics. I really want one as well for afterwards and I really like the lace parasols, albeit a little pricier.
  2. What did you end up doing for your honeymoon? I was thinking Arenal Nayara, but haven't booked so still looking for suggestions!
  3. Where did you end up getting your parasols from? As of now, we are getting corsages and parasols. Would you mind sharing a pic? And are you getting a parasol for yourself for pics? If so are you getting the same style, different color, or both than the bridesmaids for pictures?
  4. Hi TrishaJ34. I've seen cute pics of the pinwheels as well! I just happened to like the parasols a little more, but there's one pic I keep running across that makes me want them! I think I'm going to have the girls walk with the parasols open. The FI thinks the guys should hold the parasols over the bridesmaids as they enter, because he says guys hold the umbrella so why is it any different. So we're deciding on this, but I've got the final say on this one. I'm actually still debating on whether the girls will walk in with the guys or individually. What are you thinking of doing? I agree, the costs of 5 bridesmaid bouquets was just not budgeted for, so this is a cute alternative. If you are still contemplating about flowers however, I ran across an article today that suggested the use of baby's breath since it is relatively inexpensive, especially compared to other flowers. So this is a thought. I may end up incorporating baby's breath along the chairs outside, maybe in mason jars, and possible a little color, but it's still cute on it's own. Just an idea! The parasols are fun though, and add to some neat pictures! If you have a coordinator, see how much rental is if you want to save more money. My coordinator is going to send a pic of the parasols she has for $2 rentals. The ones online I want are about $7 per parasol and I want a lace parasol which is a tad pricier, BUT I've cut the budget on my invites, dress and shoes so I'm considering it!
  5. Thanks everyone for your comments/votes! I really love the orange mat. The fiance is voting for the white mat and the orange envelopes....he thinks it flows better with the white from the tree and the lines at the top since they "run off the page." Passionsarcasm, here's a pic of the orange. The problem here, is unfortunately I was comparing oranges with the samples so the cardstock back and the envelope here aren't exact matches. The cardstock I felt matched the lettering the best so I had the guy at the paper store cut this one out for me. BUT problem 2...the matting does not have a matching envelope So I would have to change the matting to go with orange cardstock and envelope....but hopefully this gives you an idea of how it would look!
  6. Hello BDW ladies, I have my invitations printed out now and I want to dress them up a bit!! Sorry about the rotation on the second one, I couldn't get it fixed. Take the poll and help me and the fiance decide! Here is the invitation with the orange cardstock back. Here is the invitation with no cardstock backing..so "as is" Here is the invitation with the white cardstock backing (well as of now this is the envelope, I am just using it to get an idea because if I do nothing and go with the invite as is, then this "backing" that is actually the envelope will be what I send. I do however, have a love bird stamp that I am going to put on the back of the envelopes.) So if we go with the white cardstock, I'm going to buy the orange envelope. So here's an idea. Alright, what do you think? What should I go with? Thanks for all your help in advance!!

  8. I didn't realize this was going to bring such supportive responses! I think I've decided on the parasols. I showed the fiance some tonight and he really likes it. They are going to have something like the corsages, but I'm not very DIY (although I wish I was) so I'll get those from her but still substantially less expensive than the bouquet! Thanks
  9. Thanks Jreist! I am strongly considering letting the flower girls throw silk petals down the aisle. I know real flowers are lovely and all, but it's such an expense for a small amount of time and just to step all over them. I am much more budget minded than I would have imagined myself being (if you knew me you would know how true this statement is lol..)! Thanks for all your advice. I like the bouquet for the bridesmaids! I looked into this as well. I think that overlooking the jungle is my favorite, however it may be where the reception will be. I can't decide...although my coordinator is pushing for all decisions to be done by the end of August.
  10. Love your colors, tangerine and fuschia! You all have been really helpful. I think the parasols are winning! Although my MOH isn't too fond of the idea...but at least she loves her dress
  11. Thank you jreist. Our weddings are one day apart! I didn't mean to say that I would look for flowers the day before, that does indeed sound hectic. Our wedding week is Jan. 16-22, and I will be arriving on the 15th to assure the rooms are prepared, the gifts for the guests are there, and to purchase all the liquor for the week. So since I was already going into town, I figured I could find flowers as well. I think I might go with the parasols and hope to find flowers, and if I do then the parasols will likely just be for the post-wedding photos. That's definitely one way of looking at it. I JUST ordered my dress last week so I hope everyone loves it as much as I do! We aren't doing the traditional beach wedding as so many destination weddings. Our wedding will be either on (1) the balcony of one of the villas or (2) the hilltop behind our villas that overlooks the jungle/ocean. Still haven't decided on this... I'm going to look into the fake flower bouquets. I had a hard time locating the one you said you used. Would you mind sending the link? Also, since you used the fake flowers, did you use silk flowers for your flower girls? Thanks again!
  12. That could work right around the waist. Thank you for your idea!
  13. My MOH really wants to be distinguished in some way from the other bridesmaids...I don't think it's necessary but I'm considering it. Also I have a maid and matron of honor, so I would have to distinguish them both. How did you ladies distinguish your MOH dress? Here is the bridesmaid dress: For some reason I can't capture the image of the back of the BM dress so here's the link: http://allurebridals.com/Store_ProductDetail.aspx?pid=c8GB5g267710c6G78g30# But the colors of the wedding are: so the BM dresses will be a little darker (we are getting the fuschia). Any ideas are greatly appreciated
