  1. is there any way at all to talk to her reasonably about it? if not, I'd say walk. I get that weddings bring out the worst in people - family, the bride & groom - pretty much everybody. But at some point reason has to prevail, and hope she realizes that friendship are more important than this crazy drama.
  2. ok, this short chick has major envy of your height! crossing fingers that your seamstress can come up with a way to add a bit of length for you and let you rock that dress!!
  3. I say go with the dress you love. You will find shoes you like. I also would say go with a 2" heel - if the dress isn't flush against the floor, I don't know that it'll make that big of a difference. Are there any options for a skilled seamstress to add another layer to the bottom of your 1st dress for the extra length you want for heels? maybe a bit of tulle at the bottom, or even another layer of the pleats/ruffles?
  4. I'm going to give them the bags at the welcome dinner on the night they arrive. Anyone who doesn't make it in time for the dinner, we'll tell them to meet us at the beach bar or martini bar, and give them to them at that time. for the one or two people staying off site, who may not be at EDR until the wedding day, I may mail them ahead of time, or just not give them one (I mean, they couldn't stay at our property to help us with rates, so am I really concerned about them getting stuff..? they'll still get a favor at the wedding). I haven't made up my mind on that. thank you!!! I saw the one below on pinterest, and my graphic designer friend tweaked it for us. I figured all of our friends have a crazy sense of humor, so these should be hilarious to read. I'll bind them into a "book" of sorts when we get back.
  5. thank you!! I can copy just about anything lol it helps that I have a huge stash of scrapbook paper, tools, stamps, ink, etc. it's been languishing away, and I haven't touched it in a long time. it's nice to break it out again! what are you working on? anything I can help with?
  6. Thanks ladies!!!! I'm so thrilled with them. I had a lot of wording inspiration from pinterest lol I hope my photog will take better pics of them for me. Here's an up close pic of them (please excuse the color distortion..): I also have an "M" that is glittery blue and on skewers, that will be in the basket - don't think I've taken a decent pic of that yet. I have the paper bags and labels done for the survival kits, just haven't packaged the kits up (and I won't until I get my nearly-final headcount). I will take some pics tonight if I get home from work at a decent hour (!$#$%%^!!!!). Paper crafting at it's best...! I am just hoping it doens't look "too" DIY and homemade - that's what I'm trying to balance.
  7. I couldn't wait any longer to post my invites, so here they are: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/80966/my-semi-diy-invites Most of them have been received, and one has come back for a wrong address (oops...). I even have 2 RSVPs back already!
  8. My invites are out, and I can't wait any longer to share them!! Our colors are light blue (bluebell) and orange (papaya). I went a semi-DIY route, meaning I had a graphic designer who did the invite & RSVP for me (based on a design I saw from another bride here at BDW), then printed using 123print.com. I used the linen-type paper, and they came out amazing!!! I then did a quickie design for an insert with our website, and a perforated tear-off for the welcome dinner RSVP, both in word. I wrapped the inside stuff in a strip of handmade Japanese paper, secured with a square of craft paper with the sand dollar on it (Martha Stuart punch), and then tied orange & white twine around the bundle. The orange (papaya) invite envelopes are from a local paper store (Paper Source also carries them though). I made the envelope liners myself using this tutorial. I used text-weight paper from the same paper store (Paper Source carries it too), and stamped them with a $1 starfish stamp I found at Michaels (because apparently EVERYTHING having to do with my wedding has to have a starfish - hahahaha). I used the white envelopes that came with the RSVPs (due to the size I wanted for the RSVP, the envelopes were free). I used avery address labels for all of the address labels - the guest & RSVP labels are the 4x2" ones, and the return address on the invite is the smaller one that comes 30/sheet. I used the clear labels for all of them. My designer did an envelope seal for us to seal the whole thing off. WHEW. So here's the good stuff - the pics. And honestly, I don't think these pictures do them justice. They are so pretty, elegant, yet total beachy feel. Just what we were going for. Here's the invite: The RSVP (front): The RSVP (back): The pieces: And all assembled: The envelope seal: Thanks for looking!
