Tough one.......hmmmmmm I feel the same as you. They spend so much money to attend..Dont they DARE buy us a gift!! If you feel strongly about it, I dont think its tacky to plan a notecard in your invites indicating that your wedding gift is your "presence" and material gifts are not needed. Just my 2 cents worth.... Hope it helps

Thanks Boo, Cecilia told me a 10 minute walk........so 5 min. is better I only get my photographer for 2 hours, so i gotta rush, but that was my decision since we didnt want to have a huge photoshoot..... I have seen pics at the Hacienda and had to go there.... I dont care if its dirty gonna TTD anyway....LOL Thanks Boo....

Wow, tough choice......... When I had talked to Valeria (Cecilia assistant) on the telephone my options were 11am or 3pm or 630pm........When I spoke with her on the phone she told me that 3pm was better because 11am is tooo hot......and by 630 its starting to get dark. So I dont know why she would offer 7pm?? And really, how many weddings a day are there?? I was told 3 and I think that is a lot of weddings, I would think that is all you would see if weddings all day long every day you are there?? Anywayz, i think 7pm will be almost dark. So 11am would be better and then do an awesome lunch....

Hi Anna, I have been researching photographers to death, i found a few on here that are so popular because of this site, no...they wont budge at all. But I had asked the other resorts I was researching for my wedding and they gave me vendor names not on this site and they were very negotiable. In fact I am very interested in AKI Demi and Sweet Caribben Photographer. Only problem is Aki Demi we had a set price and ready to go, and he dropped off all communication, I havent heard from him in a week and I have sent 3 emails, that worries me. I really like Sweet Caribbean but they want 100% of the deposit down, I am lil weary of that, what happens if they dont show up, or show up late or NOT at all...........I can concerned if I should sign the contract, other than that they were very negotible....Both Aki and Sweet were very good with negotiations........I do not believe either one of them are on this site. I thought I found the photographer I liked, but now they want 100% of all monies upfront....Is this normal? I thought 50% is reasonable. Because what happens if the photographer never shows? Then what?? Any thoughts would be awesome. Thanks forum.... May 5, 2011 wedding BTW, I take any suggestions for photographers, I only want a 2 hour session, something simple, so I am looking for someone very "reasonable"....

Nicyx, HI, may i ask what resort you are getting married at? We are at secrets maroma, riveria Maya Mexio... Yup, i have been pretty laid back, but recently struggling with photographers... they one i finally picked told me 100% down........does that sound right to anyone??? Nicyx, are you using an outside photographer off your resort?? BTW......great job on the weight loss, i have 15 pounds to go, but not till after xmas, but i am only 138 pounds so losing that is think is going to be difficult...

HI, Jus thought i would share my previous experience.(2nd marriage) I had my dress altered 3 weeks before my wedding. I was so stressed out the last 2 months of my wedding that I lost a lot of weight. So that may factor into things if you stress, and if you lose weight when you stress?? Hope that helps.

Hi All, I wanting to join in and say hello. I have been on the Secrets Maroma forum but not too much goes on over there.....LOL..so i searched out May 2011 brides. I am getting married at Secrets Maroma on May 5, 2011. My name is Dana and FI is Don. This will be my 2nd marriage and so excited to do the BEACH thing this time.. I dont have many things to do....I dont have a bridal party and am not having a reception or rehearsal, I only have 6 guests.....very laid back. But I am struggling with photographers, again very simple, I only want some pics at ceremony, post ceremony and a mini TTD session, I only need about 2 hours of time. I am currently looking at Aki Demi photographer and Sweet Caribbean..Anyone heard of either one?? Thanks everyone.

i think under the HUT would be a fantstic idea..... I am so TORN, we switch from SANDOS to secrets Maroma.......i did it because many guests were complaining about the rooms on the beach being outdated, but the Riveria rooms being nicer but toooo long of a walk!! So i switched to a more expensive hotel.........the WC there is nothing like MARIA.......i miss talking with her, she seems to care. Plus SANDOS does have an awesome wedding package.............i am getting a quarter at Secrets what I was getting at SANDOS... To top it off the number one person who complained the MOST, backed out of going.........serisoulsy???? But what done is done.................. .but I will continue to stay on the forum, i like you girls and researched SANDOS to death so i have alot to offer.... Anyoone ever hear of AKIDEMI photography??? (sorry bout spelling i typed in a hurry)......LOL

I have been told $220 for blood work, $270 for the Apostille's(which you will need) and $70 for judge/transportation. so $560.00 total.

Jenny, I too am divorced and at first thought, I def. wanna get married legally.......but my gosh after I added up costs and legalities, and I to0...........did think about the divorce fact.........and "what if".....since you and I have been divorced we know what to expect and I think if anything should happen its best to be married in the country you plan to reside in.......... Again ladies........this is just OUR personal opinion and is no way intending to reflect on anyone's wishes to be legally married.ANYWHERE you desire Jenny, we are also not going to tell anyone we will be married a few days before we leave for mexico.......we are going to get married and the magistrate's office, and I am going in regular clothes and like its just another day and just NOT listen to what HE is saying...... and do what i hafta do and pretend its only a LEGALITY......(which it is) and put my heart and soul into it on the beach at the ceremony where it will "count" in my heart and NOT on paper.......anywayz that is how I am addressing it........... Everybody does it differently.....

Hi GABI, I had never realized what a booming business is getting married in mexico.......... I concerned that the resort gets overwhelmed with 3 weddings a day, per day while you are at the resort.........dont guests get tired of seeing brides walking all over the place the entire time........LOL I wanted to ask Cecilia if I can bring my own Tulle to add color to the ARCH and chairs?? I know there is a $5 per chair charge, but I will only have 6 to 8 people and can easily put some tulle in our suitcases and my mom and place them..........is that allowed?? I must have misread the "extras" section, I did not see BAGS of roses? I wanted to add some color as I walk down the sand...........I have also seen at some other resorts, greenery line the aisle up to the ARCH. I just NEED some color on the BEACH.... Hey SM Bride, Welcome to the forum, this place is super informative and addicting......LOL . I cant really think of any pics I may want,..........I have researched SM to death and have so many pics of the rooms from YOUTUBE and the wedding locations. I think the beach location could use a lil........sumthin' sumthin', but I am already over budget so I am gonna try and take my own ribbons for over the chair covers........at another hotel they sold large bags of rose pedals for $15...i was wondering if i could do that and have some color and I approach the ARCH on the beach.............(GABI - what do you think?). SMBride, is you read thru this entire thread you will see many detailed reviews on the resort, you just have to go backwards, maybe start at page 20 and just read what everyone has to say, there are many reviews on here if you go back in time......... Kits I found some reviews online regarding the swim out rooms,,,,.........they do say that the water is very very cold. and due to you being on the ground floor its pretty noisy. So I will skip the swim out........so now I am ponding Ocean View room I have to the Ocean Front View.......... i will have to ask my travel agent, but she has given me wrong info before, she told me that the swim outs connect to the larger pools............I always do my own research and that is NOT the case. I am currently wondering about ribbons for my chairs..................my package says I get covered chairs........but I am guessing i would have to pay $5 per ribbon on each chairs...........really???.............

Have you tried David" Bridal.........I got mine for $99 bucks last week., for the big sale....cant beat the price to TTD....

But its getting pretty close for you though I am super excited for you. My people are starting to book now. have you gotten much of a discount for having so many people in your group??
