  1. Website, STDs, Passport Invites Once we nailed down the date and the resort, I immediately went into crazy wedding planning mode. I am, by nature, a Type-A personality, OCD-planner, and I make a living being that way, lol. I started with making up our website: www.denielleandryan.com (I took down the pages with the booking information and pricing, sorry.) One of the first steps of the process, for me, was having monograms created. I went to Ayleebits.com for this. I believe we got 2 monograms for $10. Either way, it was $10 very well spent! I have used the monograms on EVERYTHING! I created/ordered our Save the Dates from magnetstreet.com: Originally, I wanted to do boarding pass invites. But, after seeing more and more passport invites on this site that I loved, I decided I wanted to do passport invites. Here is the thread for all of my passport invite information: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/76755/denielles-diy-passport-invites-blue-mexico-royal-playa-del-carmen
  2. I wanted to do this planning thread to pay it forward for all of the help I've received on this forum - everyone has been amazing! Us Ryan & I met a bit more than 12 years ago as we were both working as EMTs in the same county. We were always friendly, but it wasn’t until about 5 years ago that we actually became friends. Timing was never right for us, dating-wise, but when it finally happened – we both knew almost immediately this was IT. The Engagement Ryan & I had been talking marriage since about the first month we started dating, lol. He proposed to me before my annual Installation Dinner for my rescue squad, just the two of us, at my house. I had no idea it was coming! I could not even tell you what he said to me because I was in such shock, but I know I responded “YES!†Resort Choice/Travel Agent We started wedding planning literally the day after the wedding, lol. I had emailed our travel agent, Becky of Beach Bum Vacations, the night we got engaged. We always knew we wanted to do a destination wedding, but were tossing between Mexico and the Dominican Republic. In the end, Mexico won out due to pricing for our guests. Originally, we were going to book the El Dorado Royale, which looked amazing, but the pricing was too expensive. We then decided on the Royal Playa del Carmen, and haven’t looked back! About a year in advance, we booked our wedding date of April 20, 2012. I encourage all Royal PDCs to take a few days to read over the entire Royal PDC bride thread – the information in there is priceless!
  3. After we signed our contract, our WC (Ana) sent me tons of information and pictures related to wedding packages, menus, etc. I just took cues from this thread on what I wanted and didn't want, and would email back and forth with Ana about things...

  5. Totally agree! 3 weeks from today is my wedding, but I remember when we were a year out! So crazy how fast it goes!
  6. Congrats!!! So ladies, I'm less than 3 weeks away from leaving for Mexico! We did our bachelor & bachelorette party Friday night and my bridal shower was Sunday. I'm done all of my wedding projects, and started a "needs to come with us to Mexico" pile in my dining room, lol. Ana also put me in touch with my on-site wedding coordinator, Lili, and we set up a day and time to meet once we arrive. I'm going to start making a list of everything I want to convey to her.
  7. Juan Navarro 8 hr wedding day coverage, TTD 2 hr session $3,120.00 All images shot on a DVD with full copyright privileges, 50 page photo-book 12x24†(around 150 pictures)
  8. Isn't it crazy how close it is?!?! We leave in 27 days, wedding in 31 days! Our bachelor/bachelorette party is this Friday and my bridal shower is Sunday. The only project I have yet to complete is our luminaria placecard & table number cuffs. I'm waiting on them to be shipped by the Etsy seller. So excited!
  9. Here's a pic of DF in his suit (don't mind the mess, it's where we keep all the wedding stuff)... I wanted to start this post so you can see costs, etc. and shipping times from order. Suits Ordered - 01/12/12 (I emailed back & forth with them for a couple of days to tweak sizing, etc.) Best Man Tropical English Beige/Lined Preset Suit - we ordered his unhemmed Shipped - 01/20/12 Received - 01/27/12 Cost - $159.99 ($139.99 for suit, $20 for shipping, his cost a little extra because he needed a larger size jacket & waist for pants) Father of Groom Tropical Rome Beige/Classic Comfort/Lined Custom Suit Shipped - 01/21/12 Received - 01/27/12 Cost - $139.99 ($119.99 for suit, $20 for shipping) Groom Tropical English Beige/Classic Comfort/Lined Custom Suit Shipped - 01/31/12 Received - 02/06/12 Cost - $138.99 ($119.99 for suit, $19 for shipping) Father of Bride Tropical Rome Beige/Classic Comfort/Lined Custom Suit Shipped - 01/31/12 Received - 02/06/12 Cost - $148.99 ($129.99 for suit, $19 for shipping, his cost a little more because of his waist size) Measurements: For all of our measurements, I rounded up to the next largest number (if it was a half). I also modified some of our measurements based on things I had read in this thread. Waist - we added 2 inches Thigh - we added 1 inch Outer length - we added 1 inch Trouser leg bottom - Studio Suits emailed me and said they felt the trouser leg bottom should 20, as linen pants are worn wider at the leg bottom (we had put down 18) Shoulder - they felt our shoulder measurements were too small, so I had them add 2 inches Sleeves - they felt FFIL's sleeves were too long, but he is really tall, so I left as-is The only thing that had to be done to our guys' suits, as far as alterations, were to have the bottoms hemmed and to have the sleeves shortened on my dad & DF's, but our seamstress measured them extra long.
  10. When I asked about meeting for drinks before, I was given the advice of using the Tequilera bar. also, I sent you a PM with my ceremony & reception stuff.
  11. My plan. up until a hairstylist/makeup artist friend decided to join us in Mexico, was to get my hair/makeup done at the Spa. I was going to just have a hair trial and a makeup trial here and take lots of pics. I was also going to purchase the makeup used... and bring it all down to the Spa so they could (hopefully) recreate. 12. Morning brides! I'm 6 weeks away - so crazy! I'm done my OOT bags and most everything else. Our bachelor/bachelorette party is in 2 weeks, same weekend as my bridal shower. I'm getting so excited!
