I am officially an Ocean Blue & Sand Bride!! We made the switch!! yayyy!!

@jbmarch2012 I am already booked with Dreams Punta Cana for my date (I can still cancel up to 6 months before). Because guest prices for Dreams Punta Cana are still so expensive right now, I am going to switch over to Ocean Blue & Sand (they have my date available) if they can give me a good reception location (the best one is already booked for that day).

So the original plan was to "wait it out" but we've been doing that since March and there has been no change in prices. Our guests are antsy to book and need to know what it is going to cost them. We are now looking at switching resorts so that guests can book now at a reasonable price.

@Skygirl Dreams Punta Cana @JBmarch2012 Those would be the 2 I am picking from too so good J Do you know what the tax rate is on extra guests? Just curious – because I will most likely have to add on Right now, I am trying to figure out what my options are as far as reception - La Brasa is already booked for my day :/ and I hate the pictures of La Tortuga - wish me luck!

Also, the wedding coordinator sent me the package information, but does anyone have extra info on extra stuff? like decorations, bridesmaids flowers... my email is msclarke724@gmail - any info is appreciated

Since I am newly switching to Ocean Blue & Sand, I had a few questions that some of you might be able to answer: 1. Is alcohol included in the wedding packages? 2. Is tax and gratuity included in the wedding packages? 3. How many weddings does Ocean Blue & Sand allow in one day? 4. The Sand Extravaganza package says hosts 30 guests, but at the bottom it says something about 40 maximum? Anyone know what this is about? I am planning on having at least 50.

@Lasallebabe the prices were the booking price - group price was about the same. My travel agent works specifically with Apple. I've even had a few other travel agents see what they could find and no luck. @ska2m January is what works best for my fiance's job and our parents - we've already sent out save the dates so I'd like to keep it

So I am sad to report that I am considering changing my resort I have been waiting for apple to release their charter flights for Jan 2012 and they have. Prices are still slightly over $1900 per person for the week. I would switch resorts before I asked my guests to pay that much. My guests really want to start booking now so that they have time to make payments. My travel agent is confident that prices will drop and if my guests pay $30 than they will be guaranteed the lowest price. However, I really can't rely on her confidence (she can't guarantee it)... and I don't know how much longer I should wait... she has recommended checking out Ocean Blue & Sand. I am super sad because I really have my heart set on Dreams, but I would rather have more of my friends and family able to come. :( :( to be continued.............

So I am getting married January 28, 2012 at Dreams Punta Cana - I've had my date since the beginning of January and have just been patiently awaiting prices. It is now almost May and the best prices we have received are $1900 for 7 nights. Compared to 2011 and other people I have spoke with - this is too high!! Group rates are not better either. My travel agent has told me she is confident that they will go down. If my guests pay $30 with their deposits, then they will be guaranteed the lower price when and IF it goes down. This is great and all, but what if it doesn't go down. I would probably consider changing my resort before I asked my family and guests to pay $1900. This is just so frustrating because I have so many people asking me when they can book or so many others wanting to know how much it will cost so they can decide if they will be able to go. I thought destination weddings were supposed to be less stressful!! **(longest sigh ever)**

I have been told that prices are always this high this far out out and that they will most definitely drop in a few months... I'm sticking it out

Hey Brides I started back on my eating helathy/working out kick on Monday. I also joined www.myfitnesspal.com where I have been tracking everything I eat plus my exercise. So far so good... my wedding dress came in today so that is a little extra motivation for me.

Right now we are waiting for flights to become available. She recommended booking and purchasing a price assurance....meaning that if and when the price drops, we will be guaranteed that price. What concerns me is that if many of my guests do this, they might not drop the rate? Also, a lot of my guests will base whether they attend or not on the price of the trip.

We are asking 6 months in advance as well, but keeping in mind some may book later

I have been speaking with several travel agents since my wedding is in January of 2012. Flight schedules are not available yet, so they can only estimate what a price might be. As far as the hotel prices, they are extremely high right now. I have also been told that they will stay high until approximately 6-8 months before time of travel. Right now, I am just waiting.........

My Save the Dates went out this week!! Everyone seems to love them so far!! Now, I am just anxiously awaiting prices to be available, and then hopefully drop. I have been hearing that I might need to wait until 6 months out to get a reasonable package price for my guests. I'm also hoping this gas fiasco doesn't effect our trip too much. How is everyone else's planning going?

I'm doing mine way sooner because I want my friends and family to have some time to pay for their trip. I am getting married January 28, 2012. Save the Dates are going out this month and invitations probably in April.
