Today I got the cutest light weight metal lanterns which hold a tealight at JYSK. They were about $3.49 each, stand about 10 inches tall and come in several colours. I`ll use them as centrepieces so only need 5...figure I`ll wrap them in bubble wrap to travel. Michaels had a much smaller one yesterday for $5.00. Just what I was looking for.

I have mine all booked at DPB. Yes, if yiou choose the silver or gold package it is private. You can have your Silver or Gold package dinner on the beach or by the pool - it is not an extra price. The buffet is extra...so if you choose one of the packages (which is not a buffet by the way) dinner at the location of your choice is included.

I am using Air Canada Vacations (ACV). We booked Oct. 2010 and are getting married Oct. 2011. The TA told us in Oct 2010 that final payt was due by March 29 or so as it has to be rec`d by ACV by Apr 1, 2011 (6 months before wedding). We got a group rate (not sure if that is what you are calling the Early Booking Bonus) which expires for Apr. 1. Others can still come on board after Apr 1 but the price goes up by about $600. I also am curious where Cdn gals are finding the 2-packs of Advil/Tylenol? I am also looking for the holders (plastic name badge) that the US girls are attaching to wrist coils to hold room keys and tips. They mention the "ziploc" closer. I can't find them anywhere, only the kind which remain open on one end. Anyone have a "detailed map", listing the facilities on the resort for Dreams Palm Beach? Anyone find a Cdn company to order like plastic go-mugs as opposed to Bubba mugs? Love this site and all the fabulous ideas.

I am also using Air Canada vacations. Once we hit 10 ppl we had 2 upgrades to business class (with 20 ppl - upgrades to 4 for business class). Business class allows 3 bags per person. Check with your agent or AC.

I am doing the wedding and cocktails on the beach...and reception poolside.

I have booked my wedding at Dreams Palm Beach for Oct. 26, 2011. I did a lot of research for a facility that will accomodate teens, adults, partiers and seniors...this resort won me over. I especially liked things like: 1) 24 hour room service as I have some elderly folks that will retire early to their room but might enjoy that option 2) No reservations required for dinner. A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT MAKE ME NERVOUS/FRUSTRATED: 1) I have been booked for about 7 months already and have been through 4 wedding planners. I'd send a note to touch base on something and all of a sudden a new person would introduce themself. So, now with all correspondence I put my confirm number in the subject line and ask them to make sure a copy of the request/instructions is put in my file. 2) The reviews on trip advisor seem to go from one end of the scale to the other! Some reviews are out of the ball park with how fabulous everything is and how people have already booked to return before they have left.....yet others give it the worst thumbs down you can think of and seem to have legitmate beefs (if they are factual). I'm just not sure how I feel....some things I know and expect. Having traveled all around the Caribbean, yes, it will be humid, musty and there could in fact be mold. It is the tropics after all. I just know to bring small size bottles of Fabreeze, a mositure absorbent or even packs of bounce sheets....which I rip up and place around the room. Just praying my guests are not folks that feel the big thumbs down is in order...

I just can't believe all the wonderful information/ideas on here....I am so addicted...can barely get my work done...keep stopping in here to have another look! LOL. I'm not real certain on the posts/costs to see attachment stuff. I've read some threads but have seen a change in price...down to $25 for a subscription to be able to see posts? Plus I'm losing my way in the threads/posts and not able to go back and review what I read! Guess I just gotta keep going forward.

I'm going with a nylon type of bag that is like a backpack but with rope like straps....I am also including glowstick necklaces/bracklets, individual packs of kleenex with a personalized label and a cheat sheet card (laminated) of phrases from "Spanish for Dummies"....I'm getting married in the Dominican.

Do these holders have a zipper? Can't really make it out in the picture. Love the zipper idea - haven't seen that before. Wonder where you would get them?

Dreams Palm Beach has such a good "comp" wedding package (we've met the criteria) that I am simply adding to the package a bit and having a reception pool side to follow. We are then taking all of our guests on La Barcaza the next day. Seeing as there is a hot/natural springs they stop by and awesome snorkling....I thought it best to allow my guests to enjoy those things so by going the next day they can wear more casual clothes, bring their bathing suits/towels, etc....I have been in touch with Flori and she is really easy to work with. Assuming that we will have a blast...I have already added on an extra hour !

I am having my wedding at the Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana on Oct. 26, 2011. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and have pretty much finalized most of my details. (I am an Event Planner as a second career). Just working on my welcome bags now and have seen lots of wonderful ideas here!
