  1. I know there is a way to select which sub-forums you want to mark as read so they do not pop up as "new" posts and I do that at times with the Noob posts if I'm trying to skim quickly to find topics of interest. But is there a way to not show these posts at all? The reason I'm asking is that currently, right now, of the first 5 pages (100 posts) I counted nearly 85 which are Noob posts, all of which one person replied to. I check the board every day during lunch and between our slow internet connection, my limited breaktime and constantly being interupted by work(!), it makes it difficult to browse new posts, especially since you can't go past 10 pages of posts.
  2. ooh good deal. it looks like there are different patterns? I'll have to hit up Old Navy after work tomorrow!
  3. For your signature, click on My Profile (up at the top) and then scroll down and you should see a section for your signature. This forum changed a few months ago so yes, there are threads that refer to the old format. Here's the link to FAQ's: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/faq, you will probably find some answers there. (You can also get there by clicking on Wiki at the top of the page)
  4. I'm ordering from wedideas.com and I just sent a picture that I found from another vendor and they are replicating it for me. It might not be exact but I'm willing to compromise if it saves me a boatload of money! For less than $250, I'm getting 2 bouquets (mine and MOH), 4 bouts, 2 corsages and a hair flower. And that includes shipping.
  5. That's such a cute idea! My FI and I weren't planning on exchanging gifts (we are saving our pennies for a house) but this is a great idea for an inexpensive yet meaningful gift.
  6. I guess we'll have to wait for Chelsea to publish the official numbers to see who actually had a good week! LOL I ate nearly an entire half gallon of ice cream on Friday (to soothe and numb my hurting throat, of course!) and then ate terribly over the weekend because I was traveling to and from a wedding out-of-state. With my gluten-free diet, it's hard to grab something to eat on the go so it's usually just some peanuts or cashews and a candy bar til I get home. Â I've never heard of the Koko Fit Club but I just watched the video on the website (http://kokofitclub.com/) and it looks pretty cool. Unfortunately there isn't one anywhere near me. I'm terrible at working out and tried Curves years ago but didn't really like it so much. I found it to be tailored more towards older people or those who are considerably overweight.
  7. I had a bad end-of-the-week. I'm getting sick and have been craving comfort foods, which are never good for the scale. Hopefully I can shake this and get back on track next week. Â
  8. Is there any kind of official rule on doing this? It drives me crazy to see page after page of "thanks for sharing/good idea/nice colors" type posts on super old threads. It take forever to sort through to the new, relevent topics. I also think incessant bumping takes away from the personal side of the site; meaning after you see someone post the same thing to 50 people, it's clear (at least to me) they're just trying to increase their post count to get out of the dreaded noobie category. Â I'm sure my comments might irrirate some people but I've been thinking this for a little while now and was nervous to say anything because I'm still kind of new and didn't to ruffle any feathers.
  9. Just chiming in with my 2 cents...I had Lasik 4 years ago and it was the best money I've ever spent! I was near-sighted in one eye and far-sighted in the other, plus I had an astigmatism and had worn glasses/contacts since I was 4. So needless to say, I asked my eye doctor every year if I was a candidate  I went to LaserVue in Montreal. They were pheonomenal - the staff was great and the office state-of-the-art. Within 5 minutes of the procedure being done, I could start to see the clock on the wall and within 4 hours I could see the TV from across the room. The next morning I was declared 20-15 and sent on my way.  The actual procedure itself was an experience. I was too excited to be freaked out about my eyeballs being sliced and diced. But afterward, on the way back to the hotel, my poor eyes were burning so bad. It felt like someone was rubbing sand in them. And I was sensitive to light, even though they said I wouldn't be. It lasted about an hour until I finally drifted off to sleep. I was much better when I woke up. I had to wear goofy plastic guards over my eyes at night for the next week and "avoid a blow to the head" (uh, yeah I tend to follow that rule of thumb at all times in my life!!)  The whole thing cost me (the procedure plus a years worth of follow up visits with my eye doc) what 10 years of contacts and solutions would cost. So I figure if I have perfect vision for another 6 years, I'll at least have gotten my money's worth!  Anyone who is thinking about it.........DO IT! You totally won't regret it!
  10. I can't believe how quick it's coming up...ooh I'm so excited! Â I'm waiting on my dress (should be in Nov 1ish), flowers (proofs due mid-Nov) and I'm slacking on the OOT bags. We only have 8 guests so they'll be easy to put together but I'm so cheap, I'm holding out on buying everything in hopes I'll score a killer deal somewhere on everything i need! Â We leave New Years Eve so I'm crossing my fingers and toes for NO SNOWSTORMS!!! I'm not worried about anything except getting snowed in at the airport
  11. yay! I'm glad you finally got it and can officially become MRS! Â I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to use the copy we get when we're down there. I've heard some people are able to use the unofficial copy while others are denied and must wait. I guess it's just up to the DMV/Social Security clerks discretion?
  12. did you use a TA? Maybe he or she would have better luck getting a straight answer from them?
  13. shoot I just got back from the grocery store - I wish I had read this before I left so I could have picked up some lemons! I like that option much better than the ACV. I tried it but couldn't handle the taste. Thanks for the info Oryx.
  14. How did everyone do over the long weekend? I slacked a little on the healthy eating front I hardly ever eat out because it can be tricky to find places who will accomodate and understand a gluten-free diet so when I get the chance, I take it. We ate out twice so I'll be taking extra long walks every night after work!
  15. January is really coming quick! Our countdown is almost at double digits!
  16. Does anyone know what Sandals does for New Years Eve? We'll be arriving at SRC with our guests on Dec 31 and are wondering if there's a beach party or something like that. Are all the restaurants open for dinner or do they do something special/different?
  17. I would wait a while to register if you're wedding isn't for 10+ months, at least til after the new year. Who knows, you might register for stuff the store no longer carries by the time people get around to purchasing gifts. Â I registered 3 months before my shower. It was a little soon but my mom was in town and she wanted to come with me.
  18. ooh that's super cute! It might be just about perfect for my shower...
  19. That's what I thought too...the $15/pp cocktail hour is free or you can take $15/pp off the cost of whatever option you choose. I won't have 10 rooms booked so I don't know for sure but that's the way I read it. Maybe you can ask again or even ask to speak to a supervisor if your WC seems unsure.
  20. I expected more out of my initial call and was a bit upset afterwards because I felt like my wedding would suck if I didn't upgrade to all the bells and whistles. Reading more on here and the Fans of Sandals Weddingmoons page on Facebook helped calm my nerves that everything will be perfect regardless what I choose. Â I am dealing with Amy in Miami and initally she tried to sell me the $6000 package after I told her my group of 10 wanted to forgo the formal reception and have dinner at one of the restaurants instead. I haven't found the Miami WC's very helpful, unfortunately. I get very vague answers that are usually not very informative. Â Thankfully I have a new TA taking over my trip and she was surprised that I have been handling any of the cocktail hour/reception/spa appointments/flowers/pictures stuff. She's totally going to bat for me and will be taking care of as much as she can. As she puts it, she's got way more pull than little old me! Â Are you working with a TA? After your initial call on Thursday, you might have better luck letting them be the go-between with the WC. Â If you are the main contact to Sandals, don't let them pressure you into anything. I believe they make commission on whatever they upsell you to. The only thing I've pre-paid for is photography because I was able to get in on a really good promo they were having a few months ago. I've read other people saying they didn't have any trouble as long as the guest is really a guest and stays at the resort for at least 3 days. I think the resort photog will still be present for a little while but they should be ok to work with the guest working as your official photographer.
  21. I used to live in Saratoga and STBmrsroberts is correct, it is a beautiful town. I used to live Lake George too, for that matter. Saratoga is a bit more classy in my opinion, though they are both have big tourist draws. Â When are you planning the wedding for? If you're shooting for summertime, you should be aware of track season, which runs for 6 weeks from the end of July through Labor Day. Prices skyrocket and hotels book up WAY in advance. People even rent their houses out and can make thousands of dollars a week. It's crazy! Â There are a ton of great resturants in Saratoga so you won't have a problem finding a place for your rehersal dinner and many good hotels for your guests to stay.
  22. I am on a (life-long) gluten free diet so I already have to be careful what I eat. When I was first diagnosed 2 years ago, I dropped 20 lbs during the first few months. Since then I've been finding ways to replace all the "bad" stuff I used to eat, which is not helping keep the weight off! (On the positive side, I've become quite the baker! LOL) Â So now I'm focusing on eating small meals throughout day and everything in moderation. I'm terrible at actually going to the gym so I'm forcing myself to walk at least 2 miles every night, whether I want to or not. Maybe once I develop a routine I can re-introduce myself to the gym. Â I think everything is easier with a partner but all my friends have small kids and it's not easy to take a power walk around the block if you're chasing a rowdy 2 year old down the sidewalk. So I'm determined to do this on my own and prove to myself I can.
  23. OMG this is totally me too. Good thing I work in a casual environment where most people get my sense of humor! Where in VT are you from? I'm in NY, just a ferry ride across the lake from Burlington. Â
  24. Is it ok to take a picture of myself in the mirror? My fiance and I work opposite shifts so it's very likely I won't be able to have him take my pic before tomorrows deadline.
