  2. Our resort is a 5 star (Dreams La Romana) and we booked our wedding for the beginning of September because it was WAY cheaper than May-August!!! Our guests are paying about $950 for one week and about $1450 for 2 weeks (tax included)... I had the same problem as you; I was in love with many resorts but my guests refused to pay more than $1000 for a week so I was feeling pretty stressed and down for a long time until I realized I could still have a wedding at a beautiful resort for cheap just by changing the month to September. As the other ladies mentioned, the prices will change for sure by 2012 so I would suggest you wait some more; we booked our resort approx. 6-7 months in advance.
  3. *Yay* Amy...I love your positive attitude!!! Have a wonderful wedding tomorrow
  4. I didnt know where to post this message so Im posted it where you wrote your review as well as here: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh Jen; your wedding sounded so beautiful & magical! Thank you so much for such a wonderul and detailed review! As I was reading it, I could imagine everything so well; you got me sooooo excited now! I had a question for you (dont I always? lol) Sorry Im becoming such a Bridezilla *sigh* In your review, I noticed you said you cut the cake after the ceremony and then you mentioned the cake once again at the reception; is this the same cake? Did you cut it twice? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question. Also, Ive noticed that a lot of resorts are horrible at making wedding cakes; how did yours turn out? Was it similar to what you asked for? A pic of it would be great if its not too much of a pain Thanks again for taking pics of the SSG...I cant wait to see them THANK YOU AGAIN for everything!!!! Its truly appreciated!! xoxo

  7. Hi Tiara, I know at times us brides can get so stressed, impatient and judgmental without really realizing how hard you are working for us to make our wedding day a special one so I am truly sorry for that! Also, I want you to know that I am aware that the prices we get quoted are from the hotel and you have nothing to do with you so I hope you do not take it personally when you read how shocked we are with the prices! I am happy to hear that the resort hired another person to help you out; I never realized how many weddings you had to plan all at once. I can't imagine how stressful this has to be for you. So I would like to sincerely thank you for all your hard work; for being so patient with us and for trying to make our wedding day a perfect one! I truly look forward to planning my wedding with you!

That's insane! That friggin ridiculous!!!!!!!!!! Kinda like when she quoted me USD 200 per centerpiece of orchids and I needed at least 6 of them....It actually made me laugh out loud! So I will be bringin down my own centerpieces...

If you could take pics of the SSG deck from different angles, that would be amazing! Thank you so much! Also, what are you doing in terms of your vows? Did you write your own and who will be reading them for you? xoxo Congrats again!!!

Having a close friend speak for us is not an option... our friends are all in their twenties so I cannot take them seriously LOL and the older people are all immigrants (We are all Eastern European) so having them read the script is just as bad as having Tiara read it; the accent is so heay LOOOOOL What are you other ladies doing? Any input would be much appreciated! xox Thanks again guys...Love you all!!

Since we are having a legal ceremony, it will be in Spanish and translated to English, so I can let you know how that is after Wednesday! Also, we were happy to find out today that it doesn't actually take several weeks to get our marriage certificate in the mail, we will actually get it the day after the wedding! So that is awesome! And all of our guests have only said great things about the resort which is also a plus! So other than that, we have been having a great time and can't wait till Wednesday for the wedding! Again, if anyone needs to know anything or wants a specific picture, let me know and I can try to find out! Hi Jenne, YAAAAAAYY....Its so good to hear everything is going well for you...Im super excited for you I hope everything goes well on Wednesday...it will for sure!!!! I have a little favor to ask...I would love to see various pictures of the SSG deck from different angles including th concrete area before you step down onto the deck. Im bringing A LOT of decorations with me and I would love to get an idea of what I can do with the recepton place (i.e. round vs. reagular tables; hanging lanterns; etc) So far, Tiara hasnt sent me any good pics of the place...always close ups of the tables...and Ive been going crazy searching the internet for pics of the deck! Also, in case it rains (god forbid), where would the reception be held? Thanks so much for you time...this forum is a life saver!!! xoxo
  12. Nope...no recommendations; other brides apparently asked him (including myself) and he never answer back even tho he is so quick to answer to your first e-mail...Im guessing either there isnt another english speaking pastor in the DR (which i doubt) or he just simply ignores your question so he doesnt have competition (urgh). So if anyone knows of someone else instead of Pastor Rick York, please please please let me know

For $150 there an employee of the hotel that will perform the ceremony. Hi dolfinluck; He responded quickly when I needed his services but no reply back for me either in regards to recommending somene else; probably doesnt want competition lol Are you going with the emplyee of the hotel? Whats the difference between this employee and Tiara? english is better? longer ceremony? Did you write long vows as well?? sorry for all these questions but so many thoughts and questions are running through my mind now...I never expected not to have Pastor Rick busy on my wedding date *sigh*
  14. Congrats!!!! You looked beautiful!!! I also hired HDC for my videography (and photography) and Im so happy to hear that their work was beautiful!!!
  15. Congrats and welcome to the forum! I have been to Key West before...its gorgeous!!! This forum is a life saver....Happy planning!!!
  16. Awwww guys...I just checked my e-mail and Pastor Rick York is on vacation on the day I get married (Sept. 10 2010). I was wondering if any of your know of someone else like Pastor Rick who can similarily do ceremonies in fluent english? Is it really true that Tiara only does her short little ceremony? I have my vows written and they are quite long...Those who are using Tiara for they ceremony; are you using your own vows or the ones writen by the resort? They seem soooo short and not meaningful at all... please let me know...Im so sad and worried now
  17. Hello Ladies, So I contacted Pastor Rick York and unfortunately he is on vacation on the day I get married (Sept. 10 2010). I was wondering if any of your know of someone else like Pastor Rick who can similarily do ceremonies in fluent english? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!! xoxo

I was wondering whether you knew for sure if the airline (Sunwing) allows vases to go into carry-ons as maybe they may consider that glass can be broken and then used as a weapon?!? xoxo

LOL you're so cute...no worries; I love the first pic as well since the first option is also similar to my centerpiece (but with petals/flowers in the hurricane vase). Im having my reception outside so I need to make sure that the vase protects the candle's flame For those who like the second option but are scared of the wind blowing out the candles, you can purchase flameless candles; they look very real but so far I havent found a good deal on them...still a little pricey for me. If anyone knows a place/website where I can buy them for a reasonable price, pls lemme know. Thanks xoxo
  21. It turned out great...love it! Im using parasols for my bridesmaids instead of bouquets so putting their inititials on them sounds like a nice idea. Thanks
  22. Oops...one more thing; where can I buy wide ribbon from? I live in Canada; do you think Michaels would have that? thanks again!

Thanks so much for your idea; it turned out so beautiful and it didnt cost a lot at all. A little time consuming but its worth it I think My wedding is all the way in September so I have plenty of time. Thanks again for this awsome DIY project! xoxo
