Past and Future brides...any thoughts? Hi Taylorbabe, I bought my dress a few months ago and I decided to go with Ivory; I found that the white looks so bleached. The Ivory I got actually still looks like white but has a more natural look to it. Here is a pic so you can get an idea of what Im talking about. Which dress did you go with? (designer/style number)? Mine is Allure Exclusive, style # 2252 xoxo
  2. Dcairns- I booked HDC for my wedding for both photography and videography after reading so many amazing reviews on this website! There is a whole thread on it! Also, if you go to their website, they have a lot of pics of their work you can show you fiance He also has a page on facebook where you can read tons of amazing reviews! I have not come across one bad review so far; they are the best in the area! Also, in regards to the confirmation of your deposit, in my case it took forever which was stressful. What I noticed worked best was to put the word URGENT in the subject box of your e-mail! Also, once they confirm, double-check that everything is right; they had actually written down the wrong month of my wedding. SunandSand --- YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY....im so excited for you! I hope you have a fab wedding!!! Sungodess_08 - Thank you for taking the time to write that post for us p.s. Im having my civil ceremony in a week from tomorrow!!!! Im super excited guys! xoxo
  3. Ok...so ignore the message I just posted.... Amy just clarified everything for me...thank you x 100000 So it turns out that there are 2 options. a) Either you rent out the SSG for the flat rate of $1000 + tax and your guests just pick off the SSG regular menu. OR You go with the special wedding menu, either silver or gold and you pay a per person rate, depending which menu you choose. xoxo
  4. Quote: Originally Posted by nsimpson SSG rental is $1000 + 26% tax & gratuity. OR are you referring to renting the SSG restaurant (not deck) which costs $1000 +26% etc? I am having a free wedding package if that matter.... OMG please clarify this for me anyone LOL I e-mailed Tiara but shes probably busy. Thanks Ladies xoxo

The SSG tables of 4 don't look too big to begin with, and I was thinking once we have dinner plates, drink water and wine glasses, salad plate...it might get lost amongs all that. Or if I went with 8 per table then the centre piece needs to be substantial enough to hold its own amogst a big table...oh so much to think about. I wish they had hurricane (is that what their called?) those clear vase things and I could just bring down my own candles to put in them, I really just want something that simple, but blue/orange and to make an impact. Hi Taylorbabe, Im planning to distribute my centerpieces amongst my guests (I have 40 ppl going in total) to take in their carry-on. I called my airline (Sunwing) and they said it wont be a problem. Im going to wrap them up really well also. Im planning on doing 8 ppl per table xoxo

I'm planning on renting the SSG and figure they must have centre pieces they normally use that would be available in a worst case scenario. I don't want to pay shipping ahead as I will already be shipping the party favors ahead of time. ***Has anyone chosen the fireworks option? or seen it done? As always, any suggestion/help is appreciated. 1. Im also wondering about the cake cutting utensils. 2. In regards to the centerpieces, they charge a lot for those; Im also having my reception at the SSG deck and I was quoted $200 USD per centerpiece (orchids); Considering I will have at least 5 tables, that seemed a little ridiculous for me. So I decided to bring down my own centerpieces; I posted some pics of it on the forum a while back. Lemme kno if you cant find them. In regards to the fireworks, I have no info on it! They sound nice but a little pricey xoxo Bee

Just double-check with Tiara tho.

  12. I have a quick questions for those ladies who already got married at DLR...I was wondering what colors they offer for the table cloths? My theme is hot pink and chocolate brown and I was wondering if they have brown table cloths otherwise I will bring my own down... Lizzy...I forgot if youre having your reception @ the SSG...if you are, since youre getting married next...do you think you could maybe measure the size of the round tables at the SSG deck? LOL I know it sounds silly and Im being such a bridezilla , but I need to order them soon if the resort doesnt have chocolate and I dont know what size to get Thanks so much everyone xoxo

Trying to convince the hubby-to-be that a suite will be worth the extra money, sure if you can't spend it on your weeding/honeymoon when can ya? Yeah it'd be great if you could email me on some info. My email address is [email protected]. Hey ya, Sorry for the late reply...been really busy. I sent you the info. Hope it helps and lemme know if you need anything else. xoxo
  14. Hello Irisheyes, I am going with the free wedding package as well (Dreams Wedding in Paradise Package). On their site, it says: "This package (Dreams Wedding in Paradise Package) is complimentary when booking a booking an Ocean Front Suite or higher for a minimum of 7 nights or if 5 rooms are reserved for a minimum of 3 nights in any room category. Did you not receive attachments of the Menus, Wedding Packages and Extras yet? If not, I can e-mail them to you if you give me your e-mail address. xoxo Bee

Before I went down to China Town, I was going to go with this site: Paper Lanterns, Party Supplies and Chinese Paper Lanterns - PaperLanternStore.com I love their variety and you can't beat the prices! I've got two other sites that you can peruse if you want to as well. Paper Lanterns - Home, Party, Wedding Paper Lanterns, Paper Lantern Lamps, Paper Lanterns Wedding Each of the last two sites I LOVED for different reasons as well! the last one even gives you decorating ideas for using paper lanterns! Hope these help! Thanks so much How many did you get in total and how many different sizes? Amy, you and I also live close to one another; where did you get yours from; how much did you pay for them and how many did you get in total? Thanks girls xoxo
  16. irisheyes...In my case it took a long time until they confirmed my date (over 2 weeks), not to mention that they booked the wrong one as well. They are extremely busy with weddings at DLR so they dont always answer back to your e-mail on time. What I found worked for me was to put in the title of the e-mail the word "Urgent". Hope that helps. I hope you book your wedding with DLR...its an amazing resort xoxo
  17. I had a few quick questions for you ladies who already got married at DLR and have used lanterns @ the gazebo. I was wondering approx. how many lanterns you guys used; how many sizes and where you ordered them and the price you paid. Thanks xoxo

I went to check out your flowers on Angel's website They looked gorgeous. Btw, your pro pics turned out amazing!!! Did you bring those petals with you (and are they real/fake?) for the aisle or did the resort provided for you? Thanks so much xoxo

I called my airline and asked if it was ok for me to bring them on the plane in the carry-on bags and they said it was fine. I have 5 of them so Im planning on wrapping them up really well in bubble-wrap and then distributing them amongst 5 people. My father-in-law, however, thinks I wont be allowed with them on the plane even though I called Sunwing. So Im going to call them again just to double-check. xoxo
  21. I just got back from Florida, so I just finished catching up on the messages on this forum Congratulations to hjack, brbr.bo, dolphinluck, KPEG, fyniac and VallieR!!! 22. p.s. The last pic of me wearing my dress got stretched... *urgh* makes me look fatter *lol*
  23. Welcome to the site DRbride2011 Dolfinluck; Welcome back and Congrats to you and your new hubby Happy to hear overall you had a wonderful wedding. Cant wait to see pics and read your review! Its been a while since Ive posted...been a little busy! So I did some shopping for wedding stuff and my dress finally arrived and I wanted to share it with you guys Hope this might help some people with their wedding planning! I know Im probably supposed to post this on the planning section of the site but your guys' opinion matters more to me since we are all getting married at the same resort This is for my sand ceremony; Sand Picture frames are either expensive or sold out. So I bought this frame from Home Sense and Im going to drill a hole at the top where the sand will be poured. The two vases I got from Michaels which were cheap but I saw the same exact ones art Walmart which were even cheaper. I going to buy my colored sand (hot pink and brown) online. So I looked all over the place for a Cake Topper Monogram but they were all 50+ plus shipping so I bought this one for $25 from Michaels. So after being quoted $200 for a centerpiece at DLR, I decided to buy these apothecary jars and fill them in with diverse things (i.e. preserved roses, flameless candle, etc). I will post a pic of the final product once its done. I got really lucky and I found these at Home Sense...they are usually pretty expensive but I only paid $10 with the discounted price. I looked around a lot for a nice guest book and couldnt find one I really liked so I went on Etsy.com and found a lot of them. This one was my favourite. I paid (with shipping/handling) $54. Not the best deal but I just loved it so much. I received my approval photos for my bouquet and boutonniere from Angel's Accents a few days ago and Im super happy with them. Angel is amazing and her work is just breathtaking!! I would totally recommend her!! These are my earrings...I got them from Bittersweet at Yorkdale Mall... This is my necklace, also purchased from Bittersweet. The jewelry cost a lot and I felt really bad...I actually wanted to return them but my parents who are super duper amazing (they are paying for our entire wedding) really insisted on me keeping it so I did. And finally my dress came in *YAY* Im going in for my first fitting at the end of June. I still got a lot to do (buy parasols, lanterns, table linens, ring bowl, petal isle runner, etc) but so far Im on track. Hope you guys liked them...sorry for the long post xoxo
