I received mine last week & am very happy with the quality.
  3. I ordered Pashminas from there a couple of weeks ago & I'm very happy with the quality. According to the webiste, there is a minimum order of $100 (for the Pashminas) but you get free shipping. I only needed 20, but paying $100 & getting 25 was better than paying shipping elsewhere. I can use the other 5 as gifts (or keep an extra or two for myself).

I didn't realize I had this much stuff to take! Could you please post the map on the forum? I'd like to have a copy too. Thanks!

Some girls were discussing mosquitos and getting married on the beach or having their reception on the beach.. I will let you know how it goes.. My wedding is July 3. It is approaching. We are having a beach ceremony and a reception on the tucan terrace i believe! I heard about mosquito problems near the golf course..I do not believe people have been complaining about this issue.. Unless i missed something!??!?! You'll get the new Palace Passport promotion. Everyone arriving after 6/1 gets the new promotion. It's $1,500 per room for those staying 5+ nights & $750 per room for those staying 3 or 4 nights. $300 (or $150 for 3-4 nights) can be used for spa/salon services. That seems to be the only place there is a limit on spending. The dollars can also be used towards golf, upgraded wine, tours, room upgrades, wedding packages, & a lobster dinner. I'm not sure if wedding extras can be paid for with the money or if it can just be used towards a package. The tours range in price from about $60-$100 for each adult. Chichen Itza & Tulum are the two tours that cost $100 per person. This seems to be a much better promotion than was offered before. Even though the tours have a cost associated with them, $1200 (assuming you use $300 at the spa) should be plenty for 2 people to play golf & go on tours. When I've been to MP in the summer before, the only place I've had mosquito issues was on the golf course & it was mainly the one time when we played so early that they hadn't sprayed the course for mosquitos. They spray everyday. I'm hoping there won't be mosquitos around the wedding sites, but I am bringing some mosquito spray just in case. Hope that helps.
  6. They didn't have them at my Pier 1, but I did find some simple votive candle holders for $1 & some inexpensive tea light candles. I would have never gone into Pier 1 to look if it hadn't been for your post. Thanks!
  7. Thanks! I hadn't seen that site before. I might have to look into it.

So if you have over 25 guests (but under 25 rooms) booked, you should be fine. At least I hope so...we have 30 people booked but only 14 rooms. I'm waiting to hear back from the Miami office to know for sure.
  9. We should meet in a few months after the July weddings and share our experiences. Thanks for meeting up last night.

It does say subject to change at any time so I guess thats how they can change it all of the sudden :-p The tour prices seem to range from about $60-$100. If you go to this site Tours in Cancun and Riviera Maya and click on each tour, you can see the prices for the specific tours.
  11. Hopefully anyone else who was planning on coming will check the boards before heading out. It might just be the 3 of us. See you at 7!
  12. That one's fine with me. How will we recognize each other?
  13. Quote: Originally Posted by orionandmari072510 I asked Claudia about that, but they said no that the spa and salon are two different things. But often times I've heard this information may not be current. So I would say ask when you get there. I was a little disappointed on the $750 credit because the main reason we booked the moon was for the free trips. now we need to reduce the amount of trips we and our guests will be taking during our stay. The promotion says $300 can be used on "Spa and/or Beauty Salon Services," and they told you it couldn't be used for the beauty salon? They are very inconsistent in the information they provide. I would think $750 would be plenty of money for excursions (unless you have more than 2 people in your room I guess). All the tours seem to all be $100 or less.
  14. Has anyone checked out the Palace Passport Promotion lately? $1,500 Vacation Dollars - Cancun & Riviera Maya It has changed effective 6/1/2010. Now those staying 5 nights or longer get $1500 (per room) in "Vacation Dollars" that can be used for the tours, golf, spa/salon, etc. ($750/room for 3-4 night stays). Looks like a much better deal than was offered before (especially if you want to play golf or go to the spa). I'm hoping we can use vacation dollars to pay for our wedding day salon appointments (like hair & makeup). Only $300 of the $1500 can be used for salon/spa services, but that would definitely cover my hair & makeup appointments. It also says you can use the $1500 on the Precious Collection Wedding Packages. I'm not sure exactly what that means. Maybe someone with a more responsive WC could ask for more details on that.
  15. Everyone still planning on meeting up tonight?

So I do recommend their pashminas, but that's all I bought from them since I didn't know they sold other items.
  17. If you're Christian, a Christmas ornament that goes with the theme of your wedding.
  18. I ordered pashminas from https://www.nywholesalescarves.com/ and receieved them yesterday, & they look and feel great. The solid pashminas are $4/each. There's a minimum $100 order, but shipping is free. You can mix and match any colors you like.
  19. Sears (Kenmore brand) makes good machines. They have a few models that are under $200. You can find inexpensive Singer machines at Target & Walmart, but Singer was sold a while back to another company and the quality is not as good anymore (although I have one from Walmart & haven't had any trouble with it). Kenmore is probably your best bet for your budget.

However, I have arranged a group excursion for my guests to Chichen Itza. Did you arrange your group excursion to Chichen Itza through your WC or someone else? Are you going on the free tour included in the Palace Passports promotion? I've always set up our tours when we arrived, but it would be nice to set them up ahead of time if possible since with all the wedding events, there are only a few days we are available for the tours while we're there. Thanks!

Any suggestions between the three? Is Arrecifes not available? A lot of people like that one. I know they can handle more than 10 & you get a private terrace there. I was really hoping to have mine at El Caribeno, and my WC told me the reason I couldn't have it there was that it was booked. I'm using the dinner reservation for my welcome dinner, so I've offered to push back the welcome dinner one night (when a few more guests will be there anyway) so I can have it El Caribeno, but I haven't gotten a response yet. Woodsylou mentioned in her last post that she had planned to have her dinner (with more than 10 people) at El Caribeno, so there seems to be conflicting information coming from the WCs. I know we'd have to break into a few tables at El Caribeno, but I'd be willing to do that, but my WC hasn't gotten back to me in the last week or so to let me know if that's an option. Of the choices you have, I think I would choose Bugambilias.

I originally wanted the Tucan Gazebo and the Terrace Venado but she tells me those venues are not available so I am extremely disappointed... 48-72 hours...you have a great coordinator! Mine takes at least a week to respond...usually longer.
  23. If you're still in the designing stage of your brochure...I made a three fold brochure & left one of the panels blank for the address, stamp & return address, and then I sealed the brochure with clear mailing seals that had a perforated line the guests could easily break open when they received the brochure. So when they receive the brochure, one side is the cover page and the other side has the mailing info. I put a border on the top & bottom of the brochure all the way across to give the mailing side some decoration.
  24. Good news is they match perfectly! Hopefully they'll restock in time for you. Good luck.
