  1. Here's the link: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/moon-palace-golf-spa-resort-all-inclusive/reviews/3858 I posted my review right after BDW changed over to their new site & at that time they shut down any new posts on the review threads & they wanted the reviews posted with the resort description. I guess they changed their mind & it looks like my review has been moved & set up as its own thread.
  2. SChica - We had that cake at our wedding. I don't recall how many it served though (we just had 40 guests). My wedding colors coordinated with the flowers so I didn't make any changes, but if I recall correctly, I was asked about the colors of the flowers and could have made changes. As long as you change to flowers in season, I think they're happy to accommodate that request. Our group actually liked the taste of the cake. Overall, I'll agree the desserts at MP aren't very good, but we thought the wedding cake we had was good. I would also note that based on what I've read on this site, the brides that have been most disappointed in their cakes have been the ones that didn't pick a cake design from the MP catalogue and instead brought a picture of a cake they wanted duplicated. Here's my summary of our cake from my wedding review: We decided to upgrade the cake because we liked the design of one of the larger cakes. Everyone thought the cake was beautiful & tasted good too. We got vanilla with strawberries for one layer & chocolate with chocolate filling for another layer, & the top layer was tres leches (milk cake). However, I didn’t talk to one person who tried the tres leches (even though when I went back at the end of the ceremony and asked for a piece of tres leches to go, there wasn’t any left). Overall, I’m glad we upgraded to the larger cake.
  3. It was the full refund for our room (we earned 7 nights free). I never had to argue about the amount. It was only the delay in receiving it that was the problem.
  4. They send you a check after your stay is complete. It took me almost 3 months to get my check. Most of the delay was my fault I guess, but they are in no hurry to send out the money if you don't pester them about it. At first I expected it to just show up on my credit card statement, and so I think I waited about 2 or 3 weeks before I even emailed the WC in Miami. They stalled for a while...one time even telling me the check would be mailed the next Monday. After they told me that, I forgot about it again for a few weeks. When I emailed them again, they waited 4 days to respond, apologized & told me the check had been mailed out the day before. That time I did get it within a day or two. As with most correspondence with MP, it's slow, but in the end you get what you were promised!
  5. Unless it's a different Geraldine than Geraldine Flores, she didn't just start a few weeks ago. We're members too & Lisa was handling everything for me at first before my wedding (last July) & then one email I sent to Lisa was answered by Geraldine (with no explanation), & from then on, Geraldine was the only one who responded. I actually had better response time from Lisa (who was very prompt with me & my guests that contacted her before she disappeared), but Geraldine did answer every question, & everything worked out perfectly in the end! When I was trying to get my refund back after our trip (since we had enough bookings to get our 7 night stay comped), Geraldine told me Lisa would "return" that following Monday & so I started corresponding with Lisa again & eventually I did get my refund...it took a while though! I don't know if Lisa just takes a long vacation (from May through July last year) or what, but although it's pretty frustrating just have faith that your questions will be answered and everything will be wonderful when you get there!
  6. Maggie - Thanks for the info...I would still like to do a BD book for my husband as a gift sometime. I'm glad to finally know of a place in Houston that is recommended. Can't wait to see some of your proofs.
  7. Angela - Sorry, I don't think they will allow it. The person getting the services (i.e. playing golf) has to be the one that has the vacation dollars. You can't pay for others services with your vacation dollars (unless you're sharing a room).
  8. Angela - Based on my group's experience, the Vacation Dollars can only be used for the people in the room. You can't transfer them among different rooms. But one person in the room can use all of the Vacation Dollars for their room.
  9. We had a very nice dinner at Arrecifes. Everyone was very happy with their meal. I also wanted to have our group dinner at the golf course restaurant, but since we had closer to 25 people for our group dinner, I couldn't get our WC to allow it. There's a nice terrace outside of Arrecifes which is where we planned on eating (but it was too windy). They set us up inside instead, but it felt like a private dinner inside as well.
  10. We had a private dinner for our rehearsal dinner, & we also had a private event for our farewell brunch. The private events are not at restaurants (although they can be on terraces right outside of restaurants). The private events are either in a ballroom or on an outdoor terrace. You have to choose from one of the menus they provide. We used our included restaurant reservation for a Welcome dinner (we had fewer than 35 people at that event).
  11. Congrats! I'm sure everything will turn out great! Good luck with your last minute planning. Â
  12. Sorry it took so long, but my review is finally complete. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/moon-palace-golf-spa-resort-all-inclusive/reviews  They've closed the old place where reviews were posted, so my review is posted under Moon Palace in the Resorts & Villas section of this site.  I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

I'm trying to decide if the group rate is worthwhile. Does anybody have access to group rates for the resort alone? My parents are members too, & we used their membership to book our wedding. The Miami coordinator is responsive but your on-site coordinator will most likely be just as slow as everyone else's when you get to that stage (90 days out from your wedding). They don't have separate on-site coordinators for members. Â All of my guests booked under our membership & had a great experiece, and everyone thought the rates were very reasonable. However, the rates you posted on the other thread seem off. The double rate is correct, but the triple & quad rates should be much lower. I just double checked the Member rates for that time period, & it should be more like $162/person for triple & $145/person for quad (they just add $92/night for each additional adult over 2 in the room). Â
  14. I'll be there. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

  16. Â jszy10 - Â I had a symbolic ceremony at Moon Palace in July & it definitely looked & felt like a "real" wedding. You still sign something in the middle of the ceremony (even though it's symbolic), but you don't have to do the fingerprinting which is done in the legal ceremony. Â Just as Lilbuddah said in an earlier post, one of the main reasons to get married at home is the ease of getting a copy of the license later if ever needed. It's hard enough dealing with a Mexican resort, I can't imagine having to deal with their government if I needed a copy of my marriage certificate in the future. Not to mention the translation fees, etc. Â I felt bad about getting married beforehand too, and so we didn't. I asked my WC if we could get married afterwards (at home) & she said it wasn't an issue (I printed out the email where she stated that so I'd have proof if necessary when we showed up unmarried). We just brought our passports to our meeting with our WC, and no issue was ever made of the fact that we didn't have a marriage license. We got married in a simple ceremony with just my parents when we got back. Everyone else at the Mexico wedding believed we were married there. Â

Anabrina - Â I ordered 140 cups from Flyboys & had WAY too many. We used them in the aisle, & I had 36 guests to throw petals as we left the gazebo. We used them again at my AHR (but we had bubbles there too so not everyone threw them there). Â I still have some left over! Â I wanted a few different colors & went overboard on my petal order because I was worried about not having enough. Â

  19. I'm ready for a get together. My last wedding event is this weekend - an AHR in my husband's hometown. I'm free after work any Monday-Thursday after next Wednesday. I still haven't written a review, but I definitely will and am happy to share any advice I can at our meet-up.
  20. I had Angelica too. She is very slow to respond, & I was pretty frustrated before. But she was great once we got there. Have you considered having your dinner at Arricifes? I know it's a lot of meat, but they have a huge salad bar. Your guests that eat meat would be happy, & you would have a pretty large selection from the salad bar. It would definitely save you money to use the reservation that is included in the free package. You could have your dinner outside on the terrace or inside (we had our welcome dinner inside because it was too windy that day). The inside setup was pretty private as well.
  21. The Vacation Dollars are automatically given to your room (& all your guests' rooms) if they stay 3 nights or longer (5 or more nights for $1500). If you want to apply the $1500 to your wedding stuff, it can only be applied to a package (you can't use it for add-ons to the free package). And I think it has to all be used for the wedding package or none--I don't think you can just apply any dollrs you have leftover to the wedding package. My WC wouldn't tell me much about how the Vacation Dollars worked, she directed me to the Miami office (which wasn't that helpful either). The Vacation Dollars cannot be used towards private functions or guest rooms (except in the case of an upgrade to cocierge level--& I'm not sure how much that upgrade costs). They also cannot be tranferred among rooms or used to pay for your room. You either use them on the alloted services or you lose them. We used the Vacation Dollars for the spa, the salon, golf & tours. My guests & I loved the Vacation Dollar promotion--it's especially good for any golfers in your group. You might can talk more people into coming to your wedding by telling them about the great golf course they can play for free! I played golf 3 times, my DH played twice, we both went on two tours & we used $300 towards the spa & salon--we did all that without paying a penny.
  22. asbarret: this site lists all the tours you can use vacation dollars on: http://www.palaceresorts.com/palace-passport?articleId=25220 Deep sea fishing is not one of the tours you can use the money on. The $300 can be used at the spa &/or salon. I had my hair & makeup done at the salon & that came out of my $300. I still had money leftover for a 50 minute massage too. You could also use the $300 for your nails (we had a free manicure & pedicure included in our Member booking so I didn't have to use the vacation dollars for that, but you can.) I'm sure you'll be fine on booking excursions once you get there. We had a large group & were all able to get the tours we wanted, but I would highly suggest that you & your guests book your spa appointments in advance. It takes a long time to book things at the spa desk anyway so you'll also save yourself some vacation time by booking ahead of time. Things might be slower in October but everyone will still be getting the $150/$300 at the spa once they arrive, so the best way to ensure you get the services & times you want is to book ahead.
