  1. I can't believe all this sadness on the thread I'm so sorry to hear about you girls and having your wedding days ruined!!! I just can't believe it and it makes me so sad. acw271011- You should do what you and your fiance want to do!! I can completely understand wanting everything there though and it's such a bummer that your guests backed out. I hope that whatever you decide to do that your day is still magical and that you can work something out to make you and your fiance happy. fleetmac bride- I can't believe that they screwed up your date that badly!!! When you talk to them you should tell them that you already have x amount of ppl booked and that they have to fix it somehow. The whole situation is totally ridiculous! I can't imagine how you are feeling right now, I would be hysterical!! I hope you are able to work something out... Does anyone know what handicapped options there are at the resort? My mom fractured her knee and can hardly walk around the house, let alone a huge resort. We leave in 2 weeks and she will have a big brace on it and I've tried contacting the resort (I've sent 3 emails!) to figure our our options but I'm not getting anywhere. She is so worried that she will slow everyone down, I'm just worried that she'll be in pain or won't be able to get around the resort at all if we don't find some sort of motorized cart or something like that for her... So if anyone knows anything, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!!
  2. I just asked this question a week ago and was told everything could be paid by credit card...even ministers fees. I think if you choose to do that, they just give cash to the minister. It's hot and really humid in July but doesn't rain often so hopefully your big day will be nice and dry! At the resort I'm sure they prefer US currency, off the resort I know that most places will take it but might charge you more for things. But if you don't have to figure out exchange rates and if you got the correct change in a diff currency, I think I'll just pay the extra. As for upgrades, I think you just have to ask when you get there. It's in all the wedding packages and says based on availability. You're getting married a few days before us!! We are July 23, 2011
  3. You did such an awesome job!!!! I hope your friend loves it, she owes you! Thanks for posting pics!
  4. Congrats MissDonne! You looked beautiful and your pictures are great. So funny about the cake!!!!
  5. Welcome new brides & congrats!! Tons of info on here, def read this thread and you'll know everything! Don't stress about not hearing from GBP, they are super busy and on "Jamaica time" but they usually respond after I re-send emails if I haven't heard anything from them for a few weeks. Can't believe that over a year and a half ago I was in your position...now I'm less than a month away! Good luck planning and have fun!!
  6. Thanks for the great review, your pictures are beautiful!!!! Congrats!!!!
  7. Wow. Both stories are really ridiculous!! I hope it works out for you ladies!
  8. Thanks! I think I might do Cannon in D for my bridesmaids too and Somewhere Over the Rainbow for me One month...Yay!!!
  9. question for previous brides: how many songs did you play for your processional? I only have two bridesmaids so I was going to play one song for them, one for me, but now I'm wondering if maybe that will take too long? Is it ok to just play one song for all of us?
  10. I am going through Lees Tours for a private tour for our guests. We are starting off by going zip lining in the White River Valley and it is $32 pp (+$10 if you need transportation) through Chukka. If you are based out of MoBay it might be a little far though. Just a thought!
  11. I once waited 2 months & 3 emails before getting a reply at GBP, unfortunately they are just so busy and on "Jamaica time" so they aren't fast at replying to emails. What usually works for me is if I resend the email with "2nd Attempt, or NEED RESPONSE ASAP" in the subject line...seems a little ridiculous but it works! Good luck! All the waiting is definitely worth it
  12. I don't think I posted mine yet! These are for my ceremony/pics/dinner. Badgley Mischka Kiwi in Raspberry. I got them for $99 on an ideeli sale (best site ever!! www.ideeli.com/invite/mekanabr) And these are for dancing and and beach... New York and Company Flower Thong Slide ($19) can't wait to wear them in just over a month!!!!
  13. aww what a great story, so sweet!! Love the dress (I'm a Mori Lee Bride too...love her dresses!!!) you look beautiful!!!
  14. http://images.marthastewart.com/images/content/web/pdfs/2009Q4/msw_travel09_sea_lookingforsomeone.pdf I'm going to use this and just let everyone fill in the guest room numbers. Hope this helps!
  15. acw271011- Love your dress and your ring! I looked at that one and ended up getting one very similar but it doesn't have the notch in the middle, it just goes straight across. Great choice!

  17. Congrats!!!! So happy to hear that everything was perfect for you, you looked georgeous!
  18. I can't believe its so soon! All of your wedding dates will be here before you know it ladies!!! I sent out the pre trip package and I'm also doing OOT bags. I know we'll be lugging down so much luggage for the OOT bags but I think it will be worth it. The pre-trip packages prob cost about $3-4 each (1 per couple) but it was worth the extra cost bc I know everyone really appreciated them. Plus it was fun bc they were a surprise and it's also when we told everyone about the group excursion we're taking them on (zip lining and mahoe falls!). I didn't contact Tai Flora for flowers, I just went off of the prices that the resort provided for extra flowers from them and Jan's was definitely cheaper than that. They have been really nice to work with (especially since I've changed my mind prob 7 times now about what flowers I wanted lol). You definitely need to tell them what you want and what you dont want though or else they will try to give you carnations, mums, and roses (funeral flowers IMO!) But once I explained to them what I wanted and started sending pictures they were able to give me exactly what I was looking for. post your ring pic! We'd love to see it I just got mine the other week too. I have an antique engagement ring so it was really hard for me to find a band that matched (and that I could afford) and I think I found one. finally! I also bought FI's band from www.tungstenworld.com and it's great. If anyone is looking for a tungsten band, they were great to work with. Here is a coupon code I received for $35 off $100: TW35. Hope someone can use it! Have a great weekend everyone!
  19. I used Jan's flowers and had a $20 delivery fee but no additional taxes or processing fees. I did have to pay $10 or so for the money order I sent to pay for our deposit bc the credit card deposit was a little iffy (they wanted scans of your CC and your ID...which was a little too much info to send to someone I don't know if Jamaica). I got my bouquet which is orchids, lillies, and roses, 2 bridesmaids bouquets, 6 bouts, 2 wrist corsages, orchids for our hair, for the cake, and enough for one table loose and it is $423 including $20 delivery fee. I'm happy with that bc I know I'll be getting the flowers that I want instead of the 'free' bouquet that came with our package. this is what I'm hoping my bouquet will look like but with pink, ivory, and orange instead of purples. It's been so quiet on here now that quite a few brides are gone! I've only got 7 weeks til my big day! So excited. I just sent out our pre-trip packages which included a brochure with info about the trip, luggage tags, passport covers and a hand written note letting everyone know how happy we are they are coming. I can't wait for everyone to get them!!
  20. thanks everyone I actually got the idea from sellers on Etsy. I was originally going to get just a few for my fam but then I got the sewing machine and thought maybe I could make them for everyone. My talents are nowhere near theirs but there are a bunch on Etsy, anywhere from $5-$10ish per cover (that's why I made them myself, but for just a few people they are really great)
  21. wowza, I wasn't planning on tipping anywhere near that! lol... I was thinking of bringing a gift for Chandlyn (prob jewelry bc my sis is a jeweler), and prob tipping the waiters during the dinner $20ish per person. For the minister and steel drum band (since we are already paying them both) I was thinking of giving them a thank you card and a gift bag of goodies from back home. We aren't getting the DJ or the bartender for the gazebo, but will prob be tipping the nearby bartenders to bribe them for pitchers or rum punch or red stripe to take to the gazebo!
  22. great pics Missy, they turned out beautifully! I 'liked' the picture on your photographers page, I hope you get it the print!!!
