  1. yay Erin, Congrats!! So happy for you!!! I'm glad you didn't get any rain and it sounds like you had the perfect day! What did food to you choose for your dinner and how was it? Did you do anything after the dinner for a reception? I'm happy to hear that you brought stuff for them to set up and they did it as you had wanted, I was worrying about that. Can't wait to see pics!!
  2. We are bringing our own photographer but she didn't ask about a safe... But I know they have them in the room, you just have to pay extra when you use it. Maybe they could use a lock on a large suitcase and keep all their equipment in there if they didin' t want to pay or if it wasn't big enough. One thing to remember though is that all of their equipment should be insured (if it isn't then they shouldn't be traveling with thousands of dollars worth of equipment), so I certainly wouldn't stress out too much trying to figure that stuff out for them. Obviously you want their stuff to be safe but the safety of their equipment shouldn't be your main concern...you are the bride- you have enough things to worry about already!
  3. No problem! I would definitely email the wedding coordinator. I don't have the packages but I'm sure a 2012 bride on here can post them for you - or they might be posted a few pgs back. I just know they are half the price they used to be, so now the most expensive is $800 which includes ministers fees, whereas the 'free' package is actually $200 + tax bc you have to pay for the minister. With the cheaper prices it depends on the size of your group to see what is a better value is bc of the additional fee per person at dinner - (hopefully that makes sense) Good luck!
  4. Natalie - Are you a 2012 bride? If so, the prices are much cheaper for the packages than what you have. The highest package price is now only $800. But if you are a 2011 bride, then I would just go with the free package if you don't think you need everything and just add on stuff that you would need...that's what we are doing and it is saving us a ton of money. We originally were going to go with the Blissful love package too but realized it was so much stuff that wasn't important that we were paying a ton of extra money for.
  5. haha I think you are just fine time-wise. I have less than 3 months and haven't filled that out yet!
  6. I used Jan's and they were great. You just have to work with them, I think it took about 5 emails back and forth before they came up with all the flowers I was happy with. Just tell them exactly what you want with pictures if possible. And- tell them what you DON'T want. They sent me similar things...carnations mums, but I def didn't want any of those in my bouquets lol. Now we've got it all figured out... bouquets for both myself and my 2 BMs of different types of orchids and calla lilies. Can't wait to see what they create! also- thanks for posting your shower ideas, so pretty!
  7. Yep, that's the plan. I don't know if I'll have them all set up for the ceremony since it's at 2:30...instead I might have them hang a few lanterns on the light posts along the path way, and then for the gazebo reception have them put the lanterns in the gazebo and set up the luminaries along the path in the evening (I got battery powered tea lights to put in the luminaries since it might be windy). I'm also going to put the parasols in front of the chairs to add some color during the ceremony and I think I'll just bring some extra chair sashes with me to put up with the white tulle they already decorate the gazebo with. I figure during the day time, the scenery will be good enough for decorations so I don't want to add too much more, but at night I want to add some light and color. I want to have candles for the tables during the dinner too...but I'm not sure how to get them down either. When is your big day? I haven't figured out what music I want yet. We are having a steel drum band so it makes it a little tricky, since after asking twice, I still haven't gotten any kind of playlist for them from Chandlyn. I really want to walk down to Somewhere Over The Rainbow, and maybe One Love once they pronounce us man and wife...but I'm not sure. It's on my list of things to decide lol. So sorry to hear about all of this Missy! That really stinks. I'm sure they can work something out especially since the rehearsal won't take that long. I would stress the fact that you planned the outing around this time that was previously confirmed, so they have to work around your schedule because it's your only option. And sorry, but if they are closing at 6, they can take 20 extra minutes to make sure you get your rehearsal so you are ready for your big day!
  8. Great choice Natalie2012! Happy to have another GBP bride on the forum I ordered paper fuschia and mango orange lanterns, parasols, and luminaries from www.lunabazaar.com today, can't wait to get them!!! Chandlyn told me they would be able to set up decorations if we brought them, so I hope she's ready! haha

I'm starting to worry that I need to have stuff done that I haven't thought of! Agh!! Plus my fiance (who is a grad student) is now 5 hrs north, at the tip of Michigan, for his research season until the wedding so it's just me trying to get everything finished (we live several states away from family so my stress level is getting even higher knowing that I have so much to get done on my own!) For recent and upcoming brides...any last minute things I should be making sure I have done? I sent in a copy of our birth certs and passports... 17. I don't want to have to pack a lot either and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on flowers that would go to waste. So I am going to make these: http://www.chattybrides.com/index.cfm?postID=1720 I am going to buy photo mats and use them as the frames instead of real frames and then print the pictures out on vellum in black and white. They should pack really easily since they are flat and be light weight. I'm going to coordinate the pictures with the table names/numbers... haven't totally decided what they will be yet but I was thinking it might be zip codes. I have little electric tea lights that I am going to put inside instead of hauling down candles and votives. I also got a great groupon the other week for personalized fortune cookies, so I am going to order them in bright pink to add some color and put one on each persons plate. I ordered some loose orchids from the florist so they will prob scatter around the table as well.
  18. Thought I would update since my last post on here in October... We have decided to do a snorkel cruise through Jaital Tours also. We wanted to do something special, but as inexpensively as we could, so we are going with the "Snorkeling and Beach Adventure" excursion that they offer. It includes round trip transportation from our resort to Ochos Rios where we get on a boat and sail the Ochos Rios coastline and then snorkel for around 45 minutes. Then they sail over to Margaritaville where they drop us off and we hang out there as long as we want and then they take us back to our resort. We got a group rate of $32 p/p. I think it will be really fun!! http://www.jaital.com/snorkeling-and-beach-adventure-tour_LSE4_5771.html#price_info
  19. Beautiful wedding!! Thanks for sharing your pictures!!
  20. A while ago someone said that there were lights down at the gazebo for the reception...not sure how bright or anything but it's not something we have to worry about. There is the Pueblo Principe on-site but I'm not sure if they sell bottles. I think the resort will sell you liquor but don't know for how much. Maybe you could get a driver to a store or something near by?
  21. @acw271011: Yep, all inclusive! I haven't heard anything about last minute flights though. I think if they are worried about flight prices, the only way they will get last minute flight discounts is on hotel/flight package prices that you would get from a website like apple vacations. I haven't been able to find anything about just last minute flights (only resorts or packages)... Hopefully this helps your US guests
  22. Congrats Stephanie!! I hope you have the wedding of your dreams! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!! @cupcake- That STINKS! Maybe they can do a 6pm wedding like they are for ...tris(?) They are working with the minister to keep him later than normal so he can do a later ceremony...couldn't hurt to ask.
  23. The times are a little crazy, I can't imagine 11am! We are getting married at 2:30...and I was a little worried about the time in between but I figure it will give everyone an opportunity to get refreshed and just relax a bit until dinner, and its giving us time to do lots of pictures. Our photographer is actually planning to take us to the local town outside of the resort to get pictures taken since we have extra time, I'm so excited! I've been to state-side weddings with 3 and 4 hr wait times in between...it sucked because there was nothing to do in between but go back to your hotel room and wait, at least here they are at the resort so they can eat, drink, relax...swim- whatever they want for a few hours. I wouldn't stress too much about it Maybe you could plan something fun? Like some sort of game..scavenger hunt or something around the resort? Or just plan on telling ppl to meet for afternoon cocktails and snacks around 3 at one of the bars and just hang out with ppl until dinner. Also- Have you tried contacting the assistant wedding planner, Donnalee? She responds pretty quickly. I submitted my paperwork today and she replied within a few hours to let me know they had received it. Her email address is [email protected] Good luck!
