  1. I bought it from Hobby Lobby here in East Lansing. If you pm me your address ill send you what I have left of the MSU fabric (its only enough to make one so you're in luck lol) but I don't have plans to make anything else so ill be happy if someone else can use it instead of it going to waste
  2. The dresses are all beautiful girls! Ames, def love your choice, the color is beautiful and the dress is so pretty! Dutchie600- I bought a morilee dress and I love it!! Its very. Similar to style 3013 (I think that was it...first pg) and its super flattering bc of the rouching (sp?) And the chiffon should be much cooler for the beach
  3. Thanks for the info Missy!! Love the tips and your pictures are beautiful!! Thanks for sharing

  5. Hi Ladies! I wanted to share pictures of my completed passport covers and instructions of how I made them in case anyone else would like to make these for their guests. It seems like forever ago I started thinking about making these bad boys and I am finally done, yay! My parents bought me a sewing machine for christmas (not exactly what I was expecting...lol) So when I saw a template online to make these I figured I would give it a try. They would be a pretty easy project for an experienced sewer, since I had no idea how to sew they were slightly more challenging. But I figured it out after watching some youtube videos and a lot of trial and error. They certainly aren't perfect, but I think that makes them unique and you definitely know they are handmade. After many hours of work I am so happy with the end result and I can't wait to send them to our guests with the pre-trip letter in a few weeks. So now for the instructions... (sorry there aren't more pics, it's taking forever to load them!) Supplies: Sewing Machine and thread 2 coordinating pieces of fabric cut using the template below 6.25" x 12" template made from 2 pieces of cardstock (I had to tape the extra inch on) scissors or rolling fabric cutter self healing cutting board if you are using fabric cutter (I bought them both from Hobby Lobby) iron passport! Step One: Create your template so that you can cut your fabric into even sizes. Step Two: Use the template and trace a 6.25" x 12" rectangle on the back side of your fabrics. Step Three: Cut out fabric rectangles using either a scissors or a rolling fabric cutter (I definitely recommend the cutte bc it is so much faster and it keeps your lines straight) Step 4: Iron both pieces of fabrics (front sides together) so that they are easier to sew together and smooth. Step 5: Load your thread into your sewing machine and sew all around the outside of the fabric except for a 2 inch portion. Step 6: Turn fabric inside out and poke corners out with a bone folder or something similar (I used a chopstick). Step 7: Iron fabric flat and poke in edges from the opening that you left. Step 8: Stitch around the whole outside of your rectangle (I used a longer stitch to make it more interesting looking) Step 9: Time to make the pockets. Fold over a 1.5" side and pin on one side and a 2.5" pocket on the other, then iron flat. Step 10: Insert passport cover, pockets down into sewing machine and sew close to the outer edge to sew in the pockets. Use your passport as a guide to make sure you make the pockets big enough. Step 11: Fold cover in half and iron....voila! You're done!!! I'll post pics below of my finished products...
  6. Our most recent plan is that we are going through Lees Tours and having a private bus pick us all up and take us Ziplining in the White River Valley, then off to Mahoe Falls (thanks to Tris' suggestion since it's more private than Dunn's) and Coyoba Gardens. All in all it's going to cost about $60 per person for half day private trip with our 40ish guests. We originally wanted to do the snorkeling tour but my fiance's father can't swim so we though ziplining would be really fun. I'm really excited!
  7. Thanks Lsmith for the info!!! Love the pictures, looks like a great time! Welcome tamandrob! Good luck planning and you definitely made the right choice of resort!!
  8. katelynn, I am so happy that you rented the gazebo! I have a few questions as well. It looks like you had a great time down there and I'm so glad to hear that everyone enjoyed it. - did you use their DJ, if not, did you bring an ipod player and was there a place to plug it in? - did you pay to have a bar set up? I'm just now realizing how much it costs to get a bar for 40 ppl down there so I'm trying to figure out my options. If you bring your own alcohol, does the resort supply anything to keep it cold? And were there any cheap stores off-site that we would be able to purchase alcohol from or do you have to purchase it from the resort? (any previous brides input for this would be lovely as well!) And now a question for anyone... What time is sunset down there? I just booked our dinner for 6, but I might move it to 6:30 so that we can watch the sunset. What time did you recent brides eat dinner? Thanks ladies!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it's just a bit over 2 months, holy cow. Ordered FI's wedding band last night (www.tungstenworld.com) and bought mine last week from Zales. My e-ring and wedding bands are getting sized this week, I can't wait to get my e-ring it back, my finger feels so empty without it!
  9. Looks great, I might have to steal your idea for the boarding pass instead of a brochure. I started designing a brochure and thought it was so boring Boarding pass is a great idea though bc I did them for our STD's too! Thanks for sharing!!
  10. Tris- I LOVE the trash the dress pics. You would never know that you didn't feel well. They are so beautiful!!! Would Mahoe falls be suitable for a group excursion instead of dunn's river falls? We want to take our guests (approx 40) somewhere fun but I don't want to deal with 100s of ppl at Dunns River, I'd much rather have a place that was more private where we could all hang out together. Are you allowed to climb around them and swim? Is there anything else there, you mentioned there were other areas you could have explored... And where is it? Thanks!
  11. Katelynn, love the pics, you look beautiful!!! And so happy congrats again!!!
  12. Tris- seriously, your pictures are amazing. I hope our photographer will be able to capture that kind of emotion and beauty from our big day! Can't wait to see the trash the dress!
  13. Congrats Tris and Katelynn!! Its sounds like both of your days were perfect and you both looked amazing! Love the horses Tris, hadn't even thought of that but what a great idea. Thanks for your detailed review Tris and ni can't wait to see more pics from you both. Congrats ladies!!
  14. I agree with what the other girls said busybee... It's your day, do what you want! Plus, we all know that our guests aren't paying for our wedding. Even though it's an 'all inclusvie' resort, t's still going to cost us a lot of money to have the ceremony and reception we want! Hopefully today is a less frustrating day for you, we've all dealt with it but to have the wedding of our dreams I guess we have to deal with it. They're just jealous after all About the ceremony... Chandlyn had told me before we could write our own scripts and the minister would go along with whatever we wanted.
  15. thanks for sharing everything, it looks great! Love all the outfits, you are going to have a good lookin' wedding party! Congrats!
  16. ha bustled! I knew when I wrote that it looked off... Maybe you can do a Janet Jackson so that in case there is an oops with your strapless dress you'll be covered! haha jk, I'm sure you'll be just fine! And I know what you mean about your fear of beer being spilt on your dress, I feel the same way! Guess I'll stick to the clear drinks!
  17. acw271011- As long as you have your dress bussled, I don't think you'll notice. Plus I think it will be fun to have a little extra dress to play with while dancing
  18. very sweet, thanks for sharing! Love all the DIY things that you did!
  19. These aren't quite the same, but they are considerably cheaper. They are stadium cups and you can order lids and straws. Also, you can get different colored cups and they can be personalized. http://myweddingreceptionideas.com/personalized_stadium_cups.asp I also found stadium cups on ebay that are cheaper for the amount we are going to order (250 bc we are getting them for Jamaica and our AHR). Just search stadium cups and find seller "Cupman13' or something like that... sry can't access ebay from work but if you search his cups come up right away. I am planning on getting the cups from ebay and the straws and lids from the site above.
  20. congrats and welcome Dcamp! My biggest suggestion would to take 2 hours and read allllll the GBP posts and take notes. We can all give you suggestions etc but you will find the most helpful info in here, questions you might have are most likely asked and answered and I'm sure you will learn a ton about the resort and what to expect (that is, if you haven't done this already) I know 169 pgs is pretty daunting but it's worth it! Good luck, you chose an amazing resort which I'm sure will not disapoint.
  21. Thanks for sharing Erin, you photos are beautiful and I love your dress! You look fabulous!
