  1. Ok another question for you Kerrij If you wouldn't mind sharing (or pm'ing it to me) could you tell me how much your total wedding cost and what all it included? I was reading some sort of scary stuff on here from about a year ago and the prices sounded crazy! Thanks!!!!!
  2. Congrats and thanks for such a lovely review. It sounds like you and your FI (and your guests) had a great time!!
  3. Congrats and welcome! Costa Rica was a location I looked into as well. We decided that we had to do an AI so that our guests didn't have to worry about paying any extra at the destination and they wouldn't have to figure out where to eat etc.. And the AI's in Costa Rica just didn't feel like CR to us...so we'll just go another time when we can really explore! I think you def have to consider your guests needs, esp since they will all be in a foriegn country, so asking them to figure out their own meals gets a little touchy. I've heard from many of our friends that they are much more inclined to pay the money to go to the DW as long as they know that once they get there they really wont have to pay for anything else. Good luck making a decision! I haven't picked a destination yet either, but I'm pretty sure its going to be Jamaica
  4. Welcome and Congrats, Stephanie! Good luck with your planning, you'll find tons of info about Moon Palace on here!
  5. Congrats and welcome! I'm sure you'll be able to find plenty of info on here to convince your FI! A DW won't be completely headache free, but it will be totally worth it! Good luck with your planning, picking a resort is the hardest part (I've been looking since last November! haha) Check out Jamaica, that's where I'm hoping to go, potentially Iberostar Rose Hall Suites or Gran Bahia Principe. Just two suggestions
  6. I was looking at IBRH too but am now considering Gran Bahia Principe because the beach gazebo is really private, I def recommend checking it out! Good luck with your planning!
  7. Or bright pink! That's what I'm doing and I can't wait to see it against the sand, water and sunset!
  8. Hey ladies! I just emailed Beverly for info, so excited to hear back from her! Kerrij or anyone else who might know - I read that they only serve alcohol until 11pm...then you have to go to the disco at Pueblo Principe, but it says they only serve soda. Do you have to pay extra after 11 to get a drink? And do the rest of the bars really close at 11? Knowing my friends they will be out until the early hrs of the morning and that really stinks if you have to pay for drinks after a certain time! Hopefully I am completely misreading this! Thanks! Hope everyone had a nice Easter holiday!
  9. Thanks so much for all the info, I think that's the best, most detailed answer I've ever gotten on here! You're the best! Now...to convince the FI and rents!
  10. Welcome to the forum and congrats Stephanie! You'll find tons of info on here! Good luck with your planning
  11. Hi Girls, just got done reading every single post on here! I had been considering Iberostar Rose Hall Suites, but I think its more than I want to ask my guests to pay. I also wasn't thrilled with any of their ceremony/reception sites. But I read about renting out the gazebo on the beach and that is exactly what I want!!! Definitately a game changer for me Can't wait to read more reviews from you lovely ladies, thanks for sharing all of your info!! Does anyone have any info about menus? What all is included in the free wedding package (does that package have another name on their site?) I can't find any info on it. How's the beach at the resort? Does anyone know if you can go snorkeling? Ok enough questions for now. Kerri...can't wait to see pics from your wedding!!!!! It sounds fantastic and your review is making it even harder for me to pick a resort! haha.
  12. Beautiful dresses ladies!! keep it up, I love checking them all out
  13. Try Big Island Candies....YUM!!! They are locally made in Hilo, on the Big Island and they are fabulous. If you are in Hilo, def stop by the store, you can watch the little aunties making the candies in the factory. Plus if you really want something local, they have favorites like chocolate covered ika (squid!) or mochi... Big Island Candies-Chocolate Dipped Shortbread Cookies
  14. Thanks for the info TA Maureen Trying to figure alll this stuff out is so confusing and frustrating so its awesome that there are so many helpful ppl on this site. I have another question for you all!! --I know that all three IBRH resorts are right next to each other, so can you walk along all three beaches? What are the restrictions between resorts? --Which resort is best for weddings (Suites or Beach), in everyones opinion? I really really wanted a reception or cocktail hour on the beach so I"m kinda bummed that I don't think they offer it Thanks so much!!!!!!
  15. Hi everyone!! Thanks for sharing all this great info. I'm in the process of picking a resort and I have a few questions which hopefully you all might be able to answer 1- Beach vs Suites... any opinions, pics, pros/cons, anything to help me decide between the two would be greatly appreciated!! 2- Does the Iberostar allow you to have private events right on the beach? Like your reception or at least cocktail hour? 3- ok last one for now...is the beach really as bad as I keep reading? That's something thats important to my FI and I, we love to snorkel and dive so we are hoping to be able to do that right off the beach. THANKS!!!!! Can't wait to hear from you all!!!!!!! :-D
