Regarding th charges...I think you can fight this additional cost. I know how many times you went back and forth with them, and they didn't say a word. My feeling is that if it's not in the planning guide, then it's not happening or it's negotiable. ...and I'm talking about the planning guide that was in effect at the time you put down a deposit/signed papers. Do you have a copy with you? Let me know and I can pm it to you. I know that regardless of the weather, that you and your friends and family are going to have a great time on Friday celebrating you and your fi and your marriage. Xoxo tt

I'm soooo proud of him, he's amazing and no one deserves it more ok had to vent a little, thanks for listening! Carolina...I'm sorry. That really stinks, but the promotion is great! Congrats! So, we are in pretty much the same boat. My FIs sister & brother in law are not coming, his best man/best friend isn't coming because they just had a baby + his wife will not allow a weekend trip without her (four months from now...i mean seriously) and his other life long friend isn't coming because they are pregnant. We went through all of this about a month and 1/2 ago. He was really upset and then a week or so later I actually broke down and cried because I felt so bad for him. He said to me that the most important person to him on our wedding day is me, that everyone else is a bonus and that we are going to have a wonderful wedding regardless. He is so sweet and so right...the same goes for you guys. Your wedding is going to be wonderful and so filled with love. xo, tt

It just seems strange that it can't be longer - if dinner takes, say, an hour and a half (from what I've heard, service is slow) then guests really only have like an hour to dance afterward? Then does everyone just go hang out at a bar? It says in the program that they start charging per person for open bar, which seems weird, because it's an all-inclusive resort. Has anyone else's reception gone longer than three hours, and if so, any idea on how much they charge?? I'm kinda disappointed - I was hoping the packages could be for longer. hi amy. i think all events are set until 10:30pm. after that most people seem to go to the nightclub. tt

If you go for a late afternoon ceremony, make sure you leave enough time for photos afterward...1 1/2 hr at least before the reception. The resort is really large and there are great photo opportunities all over the place...you don't want to feel rushed for photos or for your reception. At least that's what I'm planning...my reception starts at 6:30, so we've got 2 hrs for family, group, couple photos. xo, t

(I still haven't heard back from the Riviera Cancun one after 3 wks!) You think they'd atleast get you to pay a deposit before deciding not to respond. ; ) Look forward to chatting with you all. This looks like a great website. Meggan Hi Meggan. I know it's a very long distance call for you, but I've found that calling the wedding team directly always works. I hope you hear back soon!! I was originally booked at drc, but liked that dt offered me more privacy for my wedding. I'm not sure if things have changed, but when I did site tours in December 2009, the beach wedding area was right on top of other guests. Right on top. Xo, tt
  18. My gosh, you all are doing great with your weight loss goals. Congratulations!! I'm down 6 and hoping for another 6 by the end of the month. I am way behind all of you with my dress search...my appointments are at the end of the month. I'm not that worried about timing (want something beachy and simple), but do feel some pressure seeing that you all are on first/second fittings. ) Oops. I've got everything else pretty much done, or on track, but I've been procrastinating with the dress. I have so much stress about this and I am honestly not looking foward to trying on dresses. I'm sure that I'm freaking out for nothing and that it will actually be a wonderful experience. I find that, over the past three weeks, I've been stressing over things for no reason (just too much on my plate with wedding, work and daily life). The one bad thing about planning a destination wedding (for me) is that I'm constantly second guessing myself...I go in one direction and then think something else might be better. I did a mini table/centerpiece mockup the other day and my fiance and his family loved it (it is pretty) and all I could do was see the flaws. I've planning tons of events in the past, but never for myself. I am my worst client ever! I would love to have extra cash to hire a wedding coordinator. All of this is putting me in the worst funk. I know I'll get over it. I think the diet of only 800 calories a day is partly to blame. Ha ha. Thanks for listening...it is nice to just get it out there. Just a little wedding/life breakdown. xoxo, tt
  19. gorgeous pictures. thank you for sharing your lovely wedding day! tt

Do you think it is b/c you are using the free option? That could add several hundred dollars to some of our tabs. Aurora definitely does not seem to want to give any freebies away but it seems like white should be free. Please keep us updated on what you end up working out. Hi. Yeah, probably because of us choosing the free option. I've learned that if i keep pushing, things will work out, but i'm sick of pushing and i'm sick planning on bringing my own things to mexico for decor. At this point, maybe wooden tables would be nicer. more rustic (i'm kinda serious...i'm just over it). I asked a few months back what the chairs look like under those covers (never found out)...if they are folding metal church chairs, no...but wooden wouldn't be bad. maybe i'm just a little overloaded on wedding. anyhow, all in all, everything has gone smoothly and we've been able to negotiate to get what we want...this has been our first strange additional cost and i know it will go away, i'm just going to deal with it on another day. Two things that may help everyone out: 1. i am not sure how much the wedding guide has changed, but in Jan., the 2009 was the same as 2010. this has been a great negoitating tool for us. I will see if i can find my old one, but there used to be one at the start of this forum. when you are told that there now is a charge, or that it's changed, etc..read and re-read the guide...if it doesn't state the charge/change, then you can probably get it removed (esp. if you booked at the end of 09/start of 10). 2. take the time with your fiancee to call directly. ask for Landy instead of your wc. the manager is really the one who can say yes or no. once you get a yes, send an email asking for confirmation (bring copy with you to resort). i say make the call together because more seems to get done with a man on the phone. good luck. xoox, tt
