  1. OMG, you are almost there!! Everything looks awesome! I am so jealous that yall will have a resort to yourselves!! Congratulations!
  2. Hi ladies, thanks for the compliments Susie- I forgot to mention b4 ... u have the most hysterical life, who accidentally eats dog biscuits?? I was on the floor with that comment Brooke, I love the crazy straw idea, how cute, and I think getting cel phone coverage for the month is a good idea... wish we could do that. We are sending out a pre-travel package (luggage tag, reggae cd and pamphlet) and I think we will include a note about meeting up the first night at 930 in the bar- so we can give out the bags... its getting close!!!!!!!!!
  3. Hello ladies! The fitting went well, only need a few inches off at the bottom add a French bustle and its good to go. My mom went with me and took a few snaps The pics dont do it justice,,, arent wedding dresses gorgeous!! Also just since Im adding pics and I know someone asked about maps the other week- here's a pic of themap postcard we made.... http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/a...2009-12049.jpg one side a map of the resort, the other a map of the local area. ok and one more... a shameless plug of cuteness... this is one of our kittens.. http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/a...2009-12037.jpg I hope everyone has a Happy Christmas... Alison
  4. Awesome pictures!! Very pretty and tasteful Made the dog treats this morning so I can confidently share the recipe. They seem to be a hit. The recipe called for: 2c wheat flour 1c corn flour 1 c water 1 TBSP salt 1/3c vegetable oil 1 egg mix so its not sticky (add more flour if needed), cook at 350 for 15-20 minutes I thought I could make them a bit more flavorful do I used 2c wheat flour 1c corn flour 1c chicken broth (make sure to get on w/o onion) 1 jar beef stage 2 baby food (I had on hand, also with no onion) 1/3 c bacon grease 1 egg I mixed it all and rolled it out, cutting into little circles and heart shapes. I looked and read that carob is safe for dogs, as well as yogurt melts, so I might go buy some today and fiddle with that a bit (his dog friends will get little gifts- do we need to have kids or what, this is one spoiled and humanized dog!- he loves it!) Off for my dress fitting this avo, but first to work out...6 weeks and 5 days to go! xo
  5. He's going to love them... I wouldnt worry about the makeup because its kind of like playing a character, right? You look beautiful!
  6. Congratulations Timberly... Drunk in Vegas with you husband sounds like a good time! Susie, its good to be a cheap date! I havent had a drink in about a week bc of dieting... 10 pounds in 6 weeks, do you think I can do it? The FI bought me nutrasystem for the last weeks up until the wedding as I have been terrible at dieting, am injured so cant work out that hard and it is Christmas time! We are staying home and going to dance lessons on Christmas day (my parents will be up north with my bro and his kids)... no big food. I get 5 small cardboardish meals a day.. worth it if I can wear this super cute dress I got this weekend (its white for the club after the wedding) Also all of the baking is pretty much done here... (I love to bake as well) I am going to make the dog some biscuits so I can bake but without the temptation... and a few sausage rolls for the FI at work this week (schools out so we are off of work for 2 whole weeks) Are you guys doing a planning thread? I cant imagine being well put together enough to get it done, but less than 2 months from now it will all be done and I can hardly believe it. PS the dance video is good motivation for my diet- that camera definitely adds 10 lbs- even our instructor looks heavy.
  7. Your dress is gorgeous! Gosh her dresses are all so incredible. I have a Maggie and it just came in... I go on Tuesday for my first fitting. (Very excited!!) My dress is a "limited" Maggie... the bridal shop said the Limited ones are when Maggie has extra fabric or a different design in mind but is not going to mass produce a dress. I liked that idea, because it would make my look less copyable.
  8. looks awesome Timberly! What have you used to hold your welcome book/itinerary/sudoku/ together? (I am stuck for ideas)
  9. Awesome job, I am continually impressed with everyones hard work (and I love your dress, what a find!!)
  10. Susie wasnt on in the middle of the night last night, she must really be sick!! (hope you are feeling better today) PS- My dress came in, yippee (nervous excited, first fitting is on Tuesday) Got to take my dancin shoes to work today, (the dance lessons are for our first dance) We are being videotaped which we can take home to practice, so I figure that will be good diet motivation (seeing myself on vid) for the last 7 weeks (OMG 7 weeks) woo hoo!!!!!!!!!
  11. Talked to the WC yesterday and she said the MS flowers and set ups are incredible
  12. I love all you guys' dresses, so pretty! I am excited for mine to come in, end of December! (and Chris, I am glad that white outfit and shoes is a joke whooo hoo OMG, bad!) Have been in the shops lately thinking about the after Christmas sales and how I will enjoy buying wedding gifts then (like purses for the little girls)... Brooke, Im sorry about your kitty's paw... I hope it gets better soon... Timberly, good luck and almost congratulations! I encourage you all to get the stuff from your resorts in writing, at least then you have a leg to stand on if something doesnt show up as expected. Our WC has been a big PITA as well (seems like for the amt of money we are all spending we should get good customer service, not crap, I think people take advantage bc we are brides) Do yall know why is it that there are so many Canadian brides on this website, are the starters of the site Canadian or is it really really popular up there to do a DW? Us Americans are definitely in the minority! The stories about the snow and freezing cars etc are like I have heard about but have never experienced. You guys are tough! I have been working on my pre-travel stuff and OOT final stuff... Vistaprint is just as all the ladies on BDW say, sooo cheap and easy! I did an order yesterday and got -50 laminated pre-trip brochures (with info abt the resort, travel info, weather, itinerary, attire etc), -100 postcards with one side a map of Negril (with all the local resorts and restaurants on it) and the other side a map of our resort (for the OOT bags) and -20 additional invites for our AHR, ...and it all was 60 bucks including shipping! Pretty sweet! Oh and tomorrow night we have our first dance lesson for our first dance... which will be "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds... my sweetie picked it out (after much encouragement to listen to some music and help, he came up with the sweetest song)... its a waltz and I am excited to practice Happy Thursday all Ali
  13. Hi Ladies, Just poking my head in, not much going on here... been sick and working a lot, watching Mystery Men on the couch with my honey... have yall seen that movie? (its silly funny) Congrats on your wedding Vdaybride... Susie, how wonderful to be reinforced that what you do has an impact Hope the cold weather has eased off up north...
  14. I love our TA from destinationweddings.com... she is easy to reach, responds within 24hrs, and has been VERY helpful with our resort. I have a lot of trouble getting contact with the WC, and she has gone up the chain over and over on our behalf. Also as far as pricing, I couldnt find it cheaper myself, and it is totally worth having someone in your corner when your resort (as well reputable as they are supposed to be) jerk you around.

  16. 150 posts, yeah!!!! there are tons of links in the DIY forum... Do you guys read peoples planning threads, I just love them! The Bride's on here are really incredible and so creative!! I cant think of anything gross my FI does... He's got a major case of the dropsies (drops whatever where ever) but is pretty reliable for a cleanup when asked nicely. Licking the belly button lint is gross. (ewwww) Shellk, Im from Sussex- Shoreham-by-Sea (between Brighton and Worthing)... where abouts are you from? Susie- 65 days?!!!! Wooooooo hoooooooooo!! Im ready for wine
  17. Great review... thanks for sharing, you are getting my excited for ours!!
  18. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! Wow! Thats awesome! Feb 4th is the day we arrive- we should meet up for a drink and share stories!- Please share your Beaches knowledge via your friend beforehand I would love to go to Ricks but think the time will probably fly by. We've never been to Jamaica before (been most other places in the Caribbean) ... We are just staying 4 nights (I work in the schools so our honeymoon will be in July- going to Hawaii)... I love that is all seems to be worry free (past the payment part)... I cant wait to get down there and for the FI and I to be able to have everyone together is priceless!!!! Yea Beaches!!
  19. I agree, our hotel stay was quite a bit.... but just for the reception (Martha flowers etc) I bet you could do 10.
