  1. oh and I agree with Svete... Tricia, your rings are totally GORGEOUS!
  2. Hi ladies... so hard to keep up and completely overwhelmed with to do lists and work! Had a bridal shower this weekend, my first of 2, it was lovely and I am so spoiled and fortunate! Austin ran the Disney Marathon this morning. I met him at Disney last night and got up at 3am to go to Epcot for the start at 550am... it was 27degree and didnt go above freezing until almost the end...brrrr for many hours outside- happy he did so well and is finished!!! Yea!! And then he flew back to Virginia for another week and so I am on my own again... ..our dog misses his dad and is whining non-stop, kittens are chasing each other all over the house (they like to run underneath the sofa upside down, im not even joking!!lol), I pulled a muscle in my back (probably everything else would feel fine if not for that miserable pain) Brook, your vows are beautiful. (we havent done them yet- FI is a great writer and I am hoping after he comes home that he will take it on) VDB- we are doing programs. havent done them yet either... its something my mom really wants Erica, I just read a suggestion from a bride from our resort, to have the best man hold your e-ring and give it back at the reception... I kind of like Susie's idea tho.. love my ring I have a back tat also... (and had at one time a belly ring, but it came out once and I never put it back in) Brook- I didnt understand the Jet blue question... Id love to be part of a post wedding meetup Work is crazy... its good crazy but got to prioritize- 30 thank you cards and then work then bed... Anybody have any suggestions for how to bust out large number of thank yous? 4 Saturdays to go... (is anyone else out there enjoying how excited the guests are??)
  3. thank you Sherri for all of the suggestions, I put them on my list I agree ladies, so much to but I noticed the other day that the list is getting smaller!! And I am so loving the process!!
  4. just noticed my ticker says one month... OMG (freaking!) its going to fly by! So many loose ends to tie.
  5. Love all of your hard work, it looks beautiful! I especially love the hankies and lingerie bags (makes me want to run out and buy more things0 which i Cant!) Congratulations on your wedding!
  6. my dress came in just before Christmas and its so beautiful I cant wait to wear it (Im all dreamy thinking about it)
  7. ooh Brooke, come on down!! The oranges are ready for mimosas (unfortunately its way cold this week, highs only in the 50s but you are welcome anytime
  8. I love you gals in this thread, at this point, I cant imagine what I would do without yous... Wow, lots of new gals posted today, welcome Hi Jammies, I made a brochure on Vistaprint, that was pretty simple and had some info- also made a post card with double sides, one of the town and one of the resort- think I paid under $20 for the lot and it was pretty easy to put together (they have it all online, designs and everything). They have a sale about every 3rd day. Sorry I dont have info about your resort, we are in a different locale. Hi Tinkatude (I love that name!)- I think all of our weddings are set up so differently. First off, our big day is in Jamaica-mon (I think most everyone in here is getting hitched in Mexico)... My FI and I sent out save the date emails in September, invites 3 months ago, and way cheap vistaprint invites to the AHR (which is a Jamaican themed pig roast of all things) for those that were not invited to Jamaica (about a week ago). We used a TA, who has been wonderful and there are 64 of us going, all but 2 couples staying at the same AI as us. We are having a rehearsal dinner with 60 of us, and about 40 of us will be boozin it up during the Superbowl, which will be projected on a Jumbotron at the resort. ) We will probably have 1 dinner alone (which our resort provides special) and the rest of the time will be hanging out with our best friends and family. We live far from most everyone, so this to me sounds like an amazing long weekend. Our AHR is 2 weeks after the wedding. If you get your bags now, I bet you can achieve a nice OOT bag by visiting a good Dollar store and a Target. Especially if you dont have too many to do. (advil, tissues, gum/candy, and a magazine for on the beach would fit the bill for most). I have also learned that you can do crazy cool stuff with a printer, MS Word/Powerpoint and some Avery products. I have made personalized bags, bookmarks, puzzle books, crosswords, drink lists, coloring books, a welcome book, door hangers, monogram stickers, bag labels, luggage tags, CDs, programs, you name it. For me aside from marrying my best friend and getting to purchase and wear an amazing dress, making the OOT bags has been my favorite part (lots of love has gone into them) We are having the wedding in a garden overlooking the beach and the reception (with a sit down dinner) on the beach itself at sunset. We hired a DJ and a guitarist so we can boogie ... We are bringing our own photographer and I got a video camera for my last bday to video the day. My gf is letting me borrow her tripod so people can leave us messages ... We bought fresh flowers from the place, my bouquet will have pink and white roses and orchids and the MOH/BMs will have only white. Groom and Groomsmen will have white orchid boutonnieres. The MOBs (there are 3) will get a rose each, delivered by 3 boys (nephews of ours). 5 little nieces will spread rose petals (if the freeze dried rose petals ever arrive!!)... This is our first time getting married and we have spent every penny of what my parents set aside for the big day. About 50% of our cost is bringing in guests (we both have siblings with 4 kids each, who are all coming and who are all on scholarship lol).. Honestly, we initially wanted to keep it super small, but realized how much our families would enjoy a big party so opted for it and are excited for it. The beauty of a DW is that you can do as little or as much as you are comfortable with and in the end it can still be an amazing wedding and all of the guests will have fun. The most stress has been getting the guests booked, fielding comments about the cost, and thank goodness for our TA (cant say how many times I have recommended that someone call Michelle) Gosh guess I got to rambling again (thanks again that I have yall to ramble to) What am I going to do when it all over? (make babies )))
  9. hanging over my bubble bath in the bathroom, definitely... tomatoes
  10. Dunno what I did there, posted 2x as well as started typing got up and moved the cursor (I guess) and finished up in the wrong order (note to self, must proofread!)
  11. Good morning ladies Ive finally put the Christmas things away here too- place looks a bit bare but much easier to dust (hallelujah!). Shells, thats fantastic that you have only gained 2lbs over hols. I LOVE double cream, sweets etc and England does sweets better than anywhere (IMO)... (sorry bout your car too!!) VDB, where did you get your fake bouquets, if I might ask? Online? We need one for the toss (still not sure if we will do that or not) and your pice sounds great! Back to work tomorrow. I have a graduate intern with me for the next three months starting tomorrow and its my first one. I am really excited and nervous both because it is a great opportunity and because it will initially be a lot of work (and having someone watch me all of the time!)... I m also on my own for 2 whole weeks not, the FI is in VA for a course. Miss him already. You guys must be freezing up there, it is damn cold here (was in the 30s last night and that is waay cold for here). I am a wimp. Have a fun Sunday! Ali Susie, please dont grow up. I just love your positive attitude and bright outlook. Sorry that your bro is having a hard time committing, Im sure he will pull though. You asked about my weight, I have gained about 10lbs over the past year because of an injury and even though I know its only 10lbs, I have to look at the pictures for the next 50 years so I want to look my best. Ive always managed my love of food with a corresponding love of exercise and have trouble doing it now because of pain. So right now, I am 135 (5'2") and would love to be 128. On to brighter subjects My gf gave me a great suggestion last night. She suggested that the night before the wedding that I take something to help me sleep (tylenol pm?). She said being apart and in a strange bed and having the big day ahead, that sleeping for them was really challenging. She (my friend) took Tylenol PM and her hubby did not, and she said he was tired all day from not sleeping the night before- and she was great. So anyway, thought it sounded helpful so I am passing it on.

  13. Love! PDA (public displays of affection)
  14. We are getting married at Beaches Negril, and havent been there yet (and it is big) but I know for sure that they have handicapped accessible rooms and are placing our grandparents on the first floor to eliminate the need to climb stairs. I would ask the travel agents on this site if they have any suggestions as well (my travel agent prob could help you are well if you need)... best of luck!
  15. I dont think there are hard and fast rules... (my wedding book says there arent?) We paid prob 1/3 of the cost for each person in the bridal party. I did get Tiffany necklaces for the girls, they are 100 each (the Alphabet note necklace) with the thought that everyone should own at least a little Tiffany A handwritten thank you note goes a long way in my book
  16. Everything looks wonderful, well done! I love the idea of visiting everyone and delivering the OOT bags early, then you can relax even more when you are in Jamaica! Congratulations!
  17. Good morning ladies! Raykel- I havent ordered cups yet either... so indecisive. Cant decide between regular stadium cups (cheap plentiful and easy to travel with), plastic beer steins (FIs choice), or insulated mugs (which on this website seem very popular but Id be purchasing the cheapest possible ones so they may look cheap)... last night I made coloring books for the kids (we have 10 coming!). The FI leaves town Sunday for 2 weeks so I will have lots of time to starve, work out and DIY at home:) Brooke- Your sister has skills!! Of the 2, my preference is #1 but either will look awesome I am sure! Shells-Indian sounds lovely for NYE! (well be right over) IMO The UK kicks the US's behind in Indian cuisine... I think its exciting that you are getting close enough to the day to lay awake thinking about what to pack!!!! Yea!!!! Susie- do you ever make up for your lack of sleep or do you just not need it? Id die! And to all- I noticed yesterday that Shelk and Susie are both nominated for MOM for December... DOnt know if the poll is up yet....voting, anyone? We are out the door in a few for a dance lesson at 745am (hope I dont fall in my shoes) and then off to Savannah, Happy New Year

  19. wow, they look great, Im sure your guests were to happy with your effort
  20. Awesome suggestions, this thread is so helpful! Congratulations on your wedding!
  21. Hi everyone the FI and I are going to Savannah GA for NYE, weve got a hotel room on the river (where they shoot off fireworks) and there is a free party in town. Im on a strict diet now for the past 2 weeks so not much eating or drinking going on (how boring) but it should be a good time We get married 5 Saturdays from now (I think we are the next ones after Susie- well except for Diane Callahan who poked her head in 1-2x, she is getting married a few days b4 us at the same resort), hard to believe. Susie, you are so organized, I still have SO much to do. Since we have 60+ guests (I dont know how it got so big) and we are doing oot bags, and I am cheap, most of the stuff is DIY. I enjoy all of that stuff but it never seems to end (still got to wash and iron all of the bags, print cut and bind the welcome books, pick music). Also little details for the reception seem to keep popping up, and I havent done the program yet. Shell- I think the spa and catermaran sound great, it will be special for you and your friend to get ready for your big day together.... Susie- Glad to hear the crazy chick seems to be history,... you do have the best stories VDB- hope you are able to get your numbers finalized soon, I expect with the holidays nearly over people will be ready to address 2010... love the sunset cruise idea. Are you guys doing TTD photo shoots? My photog is into them so I want to do one. I have been hunting around for a cheap wedding dress to do it in and hit paydirt this last week. I found a couple who runs a food bank who got a load of sample dresses donated and was selling them cheap (like 20 bucks a piece cheap)... I bought a few (thinking I could pick later, the lady really wanted her living room back and that the money does to go feed the needy. ) Do you think it cheating that I use a different wedding dress? I cant trash the real one, its too pretty! Are you guys doing them? What kind of setting would you like (in the water?, in the mountains? at a Mayan ruin?)... I think Id like to go hiking or horseback riding, we will see. Also are you showing a vid of your wedding at the AHR? Where in the order of the day are you putting it? -Got to figure that one out too!! Hope everyone is staying warm... the countdown is on!!!!!!!!
