MissSimone - is that the same place that Dave Tutera used on an episode to select broches for BM dresses?? That placed looked great and I want to track it down!

They're awesome and can address your questions at length. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...e-items-28059/
  3. We're using this b/c I really liked the idea of hiding the fee from our guests (not to mention that it is amont the lowest fees out there). My fiance used it as an excuse to plan our honeymoon itinerary and our guests are amazed at the detail in there! haha, we'll just have to take lots of pictures!
  4. I was able to contract an 8-piece band for $500 for 60 minutes. I think it is def a matter of negotiating! I asked my onsite WC for mariachi contacts and took it from there, however, many of them only spoke Spanish...
  5. I am not a bride but visited the hotel late last year and also met with Eva. She is FANTASTIC!! You will be in great hands. The resort is beautiful and secluded and very well priced. I hope you enjoy it!

That's exactly the schedule I'm following! What time does everyone expect their reception to end?? We dont have a time limit but I'm wondering when guests would start to knock out. We're serving late night food too, so I'm guessing maybe 2 or 3 AM? hmmm
  7. Can I ask you guys what you're doing for the furniture on the beach? Are you renting that separately? We're planning a BBQ for the rehearsal dinner but the hassle and cost of having to set up a separate area makes me think we'll have to host it in one of the restaurants
  8. Ooh great thread! I'm guessing a lot of the event planning companies can coordinate fireworks and firedancers. Can you guys post what companies/groups you're working with? Would love to price it out myself.
  9. I happened to like the Omni at Puerto Aventuras. They seemed to offer a high level of service and I really liked that the hotel only has 30 rooms (which are great quality). Guests can choose to do all inclusive or room only. The main downfall is that it's not next to playa but for me, I liked that it was more secluded. Also, their beach front has eroded but still soft sand. Good luck!
  10. Congratulations on a successful trip and on choosing a hotel!!! I'm happy to hear you liked CdM . Just when you thought you were done - now comes the PLANNING!!! more fun times

I lost the 30 lbs I gained over the last 5 years that we dated lol Quote: Originally Posted by nicdeb928 weight watchers is definitely good for losing weight...changing your diet is the best way to see results...the jillian michaels 30 day shred is awesome too oooh, ok I will definitely check out the px90 and the jillian michaels videos! I've heard many good things about the px90 now! I've been giong to the gym but I really want to find a way to get very toned so I can rock a bikini in the days before. That reminds me! Have you guys thought about the dreaded BIKINI LINES!!?? We're getting there several days before - it's going to be impossible to not form tan lines before the wedding!!!
  12. Aaaah, ladies. So I am JUST now focusing on getting in shape and I'm freaking out!!!! What are you guys doing to drop those extra pounds? Any exercise systems/videos that you would recommend? I am aiming to lose 10 lbs in 3 months so I can have enough time to get my dress altered before we go!

It looks good in black and white if you don't want to pay for color or can't use your work copier. This is so helpful! Thanks for posting! You've received quite the # of requests! Alas, for any other Noob members, posting your emails to ask for attachments may get you banned. 15. Thanks for sharing! I love the bright red hanging chilis! I have some great pics related to "rustic" and hacienda-style Mexican weddings. Will post when I have a chance.
  16. Thinking back on the past weddings I've attended, I dont like that the bride and groom never share their professional photos. Having actually experienced the event, I want to know how it was captured on film!!! I think your magazine concept will capture that element. Also, people love seeing pictures of themselves so you really can't go wrong!
  17. Yikes! I hope you guys get this sorted out asap. I am using Lorena Hijuelas who was recommended by my coordinator. Her page is here: Untitled Document. If you want a back up, feel free to reach out to her (no date conflicts as I have booked her for the 6th). She also brings her own hair stylist and speaks English.

They say that the prices go up next year, and I hope this is true, because if not, I'm sure our guests won't want to book in our room block when it's cheaper online! Mexb- Does it matter if they book through you or through your room block?? I would think they should be happy so long as they stay at the hotel right? If they didn't give you rates as competitive as they are offering, that's their fault!
  19. Hi! another nov bride - 11 / 6. We'll be getting married at Cieba del Mar. I know I am definitely behind in my planning based on where I had hoped to be. In terms of stuff done - bought dress, sent invitations, booked DJ, booked photog, booked mariachi. Within the next 2 weeks, I will finalize the BM dresses and groomsmen attire as well as our decorator/florist. And then it'll be time for OOT bags and Welcome Packets. It's amazing to me how much time wedding planning takes!!! Can't wait for the day to arrive already!
  20. Has anyone used Julieta for other general decor? I am just curious how she might compare to some of the larger production companies.
  21. Has anyone ever used Julieta (florist) for decor? I'm wondering how her work is outside of flowers.
  22. If they give you an outrageous price, I can give you the name of the vendor I contacted so you can point out that quote to your coordinator!

Tweets--You should definitely check out Azul. it is pretty close to Ceiba (5 minute drive or so). Their wedding planner is really sweet and it is a great property. It is family friendly (with a kid pool and even cribs/strollers that they bring to the room). Not sure if that is what you are looking for. But even if you dont expect kids to come to your wedding- the hotel is still really nice. Christa--I totally agree. I talked to a few other Ceiba brides that posted reviews on Trip Advisor and they said the food was great. I am hoping we can do a tasting when we get there (a week before the wedding) and choose the best option. I am not sure this is possible yet--but I think the key is to just choose one of their best dishes (Diana or the WC should be able to steer us in the right direction). I find that simple is always better... Tracy, Yes they said we would need 80% of our guests to stay there as well. However, I'm not clear on what the consequences are if we don't meet that threshold. Perhaps you can ask Diana but I think that as long as most of your guests stay at the hotel it'll be okay. It seems they just want to avoid a situation where they cater a wedding for mostly non-guests. Do you expect a lot of friends to stay elsewhere?? As for the food, we had a great dinner tasting and a so-so appetizer tasting. I do think that they make certain dishes exceptionally well and maybe some of their experimental stuff might fall flat. A better test would be to order from their regular menu to understand the chef's style. As compared to all the other tastings we had, Ceiba's dinner tasting was among the best (comparable to a Ritz Carlton trained chef that also prepared a tasting for us). I think our mediocre appetizer tasting was also impacted by the last minute timing and the fact that the restaurant was busy prepping for other events. For good recommendations, ask the staff!

My main concern is the wind during the dinner hour (who wants to worry about their napkin flying away?) but I think for the dancing it'd be fine to be outside as long as the sound system is strong enough. That said, I would think that wind blockers would be easier to arrange on the beach. It could serve as a decoration backdrop perhaps - to create a more private atmosphere? Or, better yet, you could get tents w/ the option of clear side panels to block out strong wind! I have inquired about tents and they're not that expensive. Don't know how many people you're expecting but a tent for about 50 ppl could run as little as $300.
