  1. Welcome! I'm getting married there March 4th! Info on our photographer is in my bio! Take a peek!
  2. Hey ladies! My date is mar 4th. I've ordered the dress (it came last week - I'm trying it on next wed), our STD's and invites have gone out. I have ordered and recieved our favours. We're not bringing any decorations/extra touches, so at this point I just need to get our music done for the ceremony, put the favours together, put ribbon and tags on fans for ceremony, and probably a hundred other things I'm forgetting Too much to remember!!
  3. I think some people order travel mugs and put them in the OOT bags. We're using our shot glasses as our favours though. TeNeil - thanks so much for the compliments! I feel a bit like a slacker bride - I'm not doing lots of things - programs, oot bags, because of cost and I just can't be bothered. But what I am doing I'm trying to do well. I LOVE my dress and it should be arriving any day! It is definitely a good idea to space things out.. I've been trying to order/purchase things about every month - it's worked out well for us!
  4. I found a jeweler (silver) that I really like. I ordered a charm to attach to a bracelet that's been in my family. It's brushed silver with out initials and wedding date. Very sweet and nice. The lady's shop is called sTuck in the coop. Her name is Heather. I was very impressed and will likely order from her again.
  5. My photographer will already be in the area likely, as he's doing our wedding Mar 4th, and our TTD mar 5th His name is Dean Sanderson and he's from Vancouver. There are pics of a recent TTD he did in Mecixo in my bio under photography. Good luck! his website: Dean Sanderson Wedding Photography
  6. TeNeil - It was the second time this week we got hit with an extra brokerage fee. I ordered some parasols from an american company and it was another 51 dollars on delivery. It might make a little difference that you're in Alberta, because I think it's the taxes that we would have had to pay on the product here? So yours might be less I put pics of the shotglasses in my bio.
  7. Awesome, thanks Kim!! Any tips/suggestions that might make our lives easier? Things you are super happy you did/went with?
  8. Funny you should ask! I JUST received my shot glasses today! I paid when I ordered them online, and I asked to see a proof too. What they sent me was no help, but I okayed it anyways. They took a few weeks longer to get here (probably because of the proof) and they look pretty good. Not super amazing, but pretty good. We put our wedding monogram on them - as its on most of our wedding stationary. I plan on putting some candies and a drink umbrella in them and wrapping with cellophane. I too had to deal with another 54 dollars in fees on delivery, which has been with everyhing ordered from the states. So, depending on how much the canadian company costs, it might be just as cheap to order the other 20 mugs to reach the min order. Good luck! I haven't taken pics yet as my camera was dead, but I''ll put them up on my planning bio when I do.
  9. I did luggage tag invites, two luggage tags tied together with ribbon. The first had only info for the wedding, the second, said something like, "Unable to eat, drink and be married with us? Please join us for a Wedding Celebration BBQ....." It had that info on that tag. The people who can come to the wedding are still coming to the AHR. I didn't want to call it a reception because we are just doing a party with lots of alcohol and a BBQ at our house.
  10. I found a TA who does only destination weddings and honeymoons. She's done it tons of times and I am so happy I went with her experience
  11. We are planning to try to get a group shot right before the family pics. We'll see if it works out
  12. I've sent out save the dates and invites now. We have a pretty solid list of attendees, and a few people are jumping on the wagon just now. I'm waiting for my dress to come in, the shotglass favours to get here and I need to get the ribbon and monograms on the palm fans for the ceremony. I've been avoiding thinking of music, but it's getting near on my to do list
  13. Thanks for all the good honest tips girls!! You thought them out - and I often need the reminder "I don't need that".
  14. Welcome to the forum! I'm having my honeymoon at the El Dorado Royale, and I"ve heard GREAT things about it! I can't wait to go

  17. Welcome to the board! It has SO much info!
  18. I bought them for my girls. But just cute sundresses that were on sale and cheap flip flops!
  19. I think ours so far was finding a resort in our guests budget right after olympics and other spring break factors. I thought it was never going to happen. Other than that, the whole putting it into another person's hands until you get there four days before
  20. I'm March fourth in the Mayan Planning is slow, but I think that's a plus
  21. I have been talking to Fernando as well and hair and makeup with him will be 330 US dollars in the Mayan.
